41 Leeds - Plain-toe Lace-up Oxford Men's Dress Shoes by Allen Edmonds Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication." Those are the words of Leonardo daVinci, who brought that sensibility to all of his artistic endeavors, including the many footwear prototypes he sketched out. In creating the Leeds, we combined this Italian's artistic notion with a uniquely American design to produce a shoe that is at once aesthetically pleasing while also being inherently straightforward. This model's handsome plain-toe and blucher vamp combine to create a traditional look that blends perfectly with any outfit, from a suit to khakis and even jeans. Of course, simple doesn't have to mean boring, so we added an intricate arch saddle-stitch and a double oak leather sole to give the Leeds just the right hint of refinement. Throw in the comfort that comes with the wider girth and more rounded, fuller toe of this 1-Last shoe, and you've got a fashionable, foot-friendly design that even an Old Master would be proud to wear. first. I truly believe that Allen Edmonds make probably the best shoes in America.
I have about 9 pairs of Allen Edmonds and the Leed style is just not comfortable. I've purchased them at the Orange County Ca location and was really attracted to them by the simple style and double soles. I just got back from a business trip to Europe and my feel are damaged from wearing these shoes. I have always worn 12D's in AE and the fit of these are seem really really stiff. I've worn the shoes about 4 times prior..hoping they would break-in...eventually.
I'm not sure of what to do..maybe take to a cobbler to stretch them out in the width...don't know.
Again, all other pairs of AE are practically perfect..Randolph, etc
I will continue to be a loyal customer and use the recrafting service which has no match in my opinion...but be careful on this particular style and bring back-up shoes for long business trips...etc
Yes, I recommend this product.

I bought a pair of Leeds back in the late 90"s made of Burgandy Shell Cordovan as I own 2 other pair of Leeds that fit fine and are my favorite shoes. I had this pair made with a vibram sole for casual wear. They have never fit! I've sent them back to the factory to have the size checked and to be stretched on several occassions and I'm always told "they're fine", but they still don't fit! So I've got an expensive pair of Allen-Edmonds Shell Cordovan shoes sitting in my closet that I can't wear! I have other Allen-Edmond Shell Codovan shoes that are wondertful but something went wrong with this pair of Leeds!!??
No, I do not recommend this product.

I love this piece. Own the calfskin version. I had this shoe in a slightly larger size due to some weigh loss and have recently replaced it with my current size of 10d-my brother inlay inherited those...hope he appreciates them as much as I do!
The Leeds looks great on feet with a suit or nice pair of slacks! The fit, fabulous! The double-oak sole has performed very well and lends well to the substantial, yet well-balanced look this shoe achieves. Can't wait for it to work-in even more!
AE, another colour in the calfskin?? ;-)
Yes, I recommend this product.

The Leeds are my very favorite shoes of all time. Well worth the $550 I spent on them. I have had a pair of shoes similar to the leads every since I could afford to buy my own shoes (oh since I was about 18). In NYC, we used to call them burgundy plain toe (as opposed to my MacNeils... wing tip) cordovans. People ask me about my 7 pairs of Allen Edmonds and simply say, "Well, they 're Allen Edmonds of course". I'm quick to tell them that they are made in Wisconsin and I say proudly, "Made in America"! And, oh, They take a great "spit shine".
Yes, I recommend this product.

I like the craftsmanship of the double oak leather sole with cork but don't know how it would compare to a Vibram sole.

I'm a big guy and need a sole to take the pounding so my joints don't have to.

Can anyone tell me if the double oak leather sole will do the job or should I order with Vibram.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

A Vibram Rubber Sole will provide more shock absorption than our Double Oak Leather Sole; however, it will not be as thick as the leather sole. Both options offer ideal support and are very durable. Keep in mind, the amount of wear you will get with either will also vary depending on the frequency and environment in which the shoes are worn.

Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The Williams is manufactured on our welted 2-Last (2-222) which has an elongated toe with a slightly higher instep. The McGraw is manufactured on our 4-Last (4-234) which has a slightly more squared toe, while the Leeds is manufactured on our 1-Last (1-511) which is more rounded with a fuller fitting toe; both the McGraw and Leeds are similar to our 7-Last which is the best fit for the average foot. By selecting shoes manufactured on the last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit.

Typically the same size can be ordered in all of our shoes. However, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape. The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

Thank you for your interest.

Given the full toe shape of the Leeds shoe, the Allen Edmonds Full-Toe Cedar Shoe Trees are ideal, although the Combination shoe trees also work very well.

How To Measure Your Feet For The Best Fit

Allen Edmonds creates shoes with the highest standards of craftsmanship and style to give you the best experience possible.

Our commitment to excellence starts with ensuring you have the right shoes for your personal needs and sizing. With more and more customers preferring the convenience of online shopping, we've developed easy-to-use tools to help ensure you take accurate measurements and get the proper fit with your shoes. To get a truly professional fitting, we recommend visiting an Allen Edmonds Master Fitter at any one of our retail stores. However, if an Allen Edmonds store is not located near you, this Shoe Fit Guide is designed to help ensure your Allen Edmonds shoes are the best possible fit.

Helpful Tools

Tip #1: Measure At A Time That Fits
Feet tend to swell in different circumstances and at different times of the day. We suggest you measure your feet during the midday or late afternoon after you have been on your feet for some time.

Tip #2: Wear Socks When Measuring
Wear the type of socks that you'll likely be wearing with your new shoes, as the thickness of the socks may affect your measurements.

Tip #3: Stand Straight and Balanced
When you do the measuring, be sure both feet are on the ground and you're balanced and straight to get the proper foot placement.

Tip #4: Get Someone To Help You
You need to have a friend help you take the measurements because if you were to try to take your measurements yourself, when bending down to mark your length and width, your sizing would be affected. Make sure your friend takes your measurements looking straight down at the Shoe Fit Guide. Even viewing it at a slight angle may affect the outcome.

Tip #5: Give Yourself A Bit of Room
If your measurement is on a length line, we recommend you go to the next half-size longer in order to give your toes a bit of room.

Tip #6: One Foot Larger Is Common
Almost everyone has one foot larger than the other. The key is to determine your size from the measurement of the larger of your two feet. And obviously, be sure to measure both feet.

CARING FOR CALFSKIN & GRAIN LEATHERS
Use Allen Edmonds Conditioner Cleaner to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Carnauba Wax Polish, Premium Polish or Shoe Cream with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry. Remove excess polish by brushing with a horsehair shine brush and buff to a desired shine.

SHELL CORDOVAN
To remove any natural oils or residue in areas where the shoe flexes and to maintain the leather?s quality, simply brush the leather with a horsehair shine brush or wipe with a cotton flannel polishing cloth. Polish occasionally with Allen Edmonds Cordovan Care Cream to protect the leather and maintain a rich color.

Our 360° Goodyear welted footwear is characterized by its durability, comfort and fit. The manufacturing process consists of over 200 steps. The process begins with the cutting of the leather. Patterned dies are used, and pieces are cut based on the style. Skilled handsewers then stitch the vamps, plugs, foxes and quarters together to form the uppers. Next, each last is selected according to the style and size. The insole is attached to the bottom of the last. Then, the upper is pulled over the last with great care to make certain that seams are straight. The 360° welt is stitched around the perimeter of the outsole, eliminating the need for the rigid metal shank that is found in most other shoe brands. A heated cork layer between the insole and outsole allows each foot to form its own uniquely shaped print for true custom comfort. Finally, finishing touches are applied, and shoes are inspected to ensure perfection before being packaged.

This Style is recraftable

This style is recraftable®.

Allen Edmonds 360° welted shoes are so well-made that we can actually return them to their original glory with our exclusive Recrafting process. Using the original manufacturing process, we literally rebuild worn footwear from the bottom up.

When you send your shoes in for Recrafting, our experts will first free the uppers from worn soles. Stretched over the proper last, the original uppers become shoes again through our unique manufacturing process. After your shoes are re-welted, re-corked, soled and heeled, old finishes are carefully removed from the leather and new polishes and waxes applied. In about four weeks, shoes that look surprisingly new are returned to you.
