How To Measure Your Feet For The Best Fit

Allen Edmonds creates shoes with the highest standards of craftsmanship and style to give you the best experience possible.

Our commitment to excellence starts with ensuring you have the right shoes for your personal needs and sizing. With more and more customers preferring the convenience of online shopping, we've developed easy-to-use tools to help ensure you take accurate measurements and get the proper fit with your shoes. To get a truly professional fitting, we recommend visiting an Allen Edmonds Master Fitter at any one of our retail stores. However, if an Allen Edmonds store is not located near you, this Shoe Fit Guide is designed to help ensure your Allen Edmonds shoes are the best possible fit.

Helpful Tools

Tip #1: Measure At A Time That Fits
Feet tend to swell in different circumstances and at different times of the day. We suggest you measure your feet during the midday or late afternoon after you have been on your feet for some time.

Tip #2: Wear Socks When Measuring
Wear the type of socks that you'll likely be wearing with your new shoes, as the thickness of the socks may affect your measurements.

Tip #3: Stand Straight and Balanced
When you do the measuring, be sure both feet are on the ground and you're balanced and straight to get the proper foot placement.

Tip #4: Get Someone To Help You
You need to have a friend help you take the measurements because if you were to try to take your measurements yourself, when bending down to mark your length and width, your sizing would be affected. Make sure your friend takes your measurements looking straight down at the Shoe Fit Guide. Even viewing it at a slight angle may affect the outcome.

Tip #5: Give Yourself A Bit of Room
If your measurement is on a length line, we recommend you go to the next half-size longer in order to give your toes a bit of room.

Tip #6: One Foot Larger Is Common
Almost everyone has one foot larger than the other. The key is to determine your size from the measurement of the larger of your two feet. And obviously, be sure to measure both feet.

Verona - Men's Italian Made Moc-toe Bit Slip-on Dress Shoes by Allen Edmonds

Whether known as the setting of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet or the 1st century Roman amphitheatre that doubles as an opera house, you won't find too many places with the dramatic impact of Verona. Impressive in its own right, Verona's namesake shoe has the classic Italian moccasin profile but also has an updated sleek shape to distinguish it from it predecessors. The subtle saddle allows the metal bit to take center stage, meaning this slip-on has the sophistication to team with a tailored suit as well as the flair to bring your own personality to a laid-back pair of jeans. Thoughtfully furbished with full leather linings and leather sole with combination leather/rubber sole, the Verona is expertly crafted to play a starring role in any man's wardrobe.

CARING FOR CALFSKIN & GRAIN LEATHERS
Use Allen Edmonds Conditioner Cleaner to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Carnauba Wax Polish, Premium Polish or Shoe Cream with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry. Remove excess polish by brushing with a horsehair shine brush and buff to a desired shine.

Bologna construction is a well-known Italian shoe-making technique where the leather forming the upper extends all the way around the shoe and is sewn into a tube. The upper part of the leather is lined, and the lower part of the leather, where the foot will rest, is lined with a soft leather insole. The upper lining is stitched to the soft leather insole on the underside to form a channel on the inside. This type of construction allows for the sole to be cut extremely close for a sleek profile and a lighter weight shoe. Combined with the finest Nappa Calfskin, the result is an extremely flexible shoe with slipper-like comfort.
