Unsure if you can find a better quality shoe. Worth every penny, and then they add the refurbishing option. Truly a hallmark of American craftmanship. I might not ever buy a different brand of shoe.

As my first Allen Edmonds shoe, I have to say that I am very impressed. The conceptions surrounding the brand, including its attention to detail, traditional craftsmanship, and quality materials, are all evident in this shoe. Furthermore, the McAllister in Walnut is the perfect shoe for business casual engagements or to dress up jeans or chinos. You won't be disappointed.

Bought 9 EEE in Walnut couple of months ago. They are wonderful. Aside from regular business meetings, wore them for an all day conference where I was on my feet for a number of hours. They were so comfortable. The finish of the shoe and the walnut color on quality leather with the brogue look - get ready for compliments. I usually wear them with my plain charcoal grey suit - especially if the shirt is pink or if the tie is pink/red on a white shirt. They look great. Make sure you have a Walnut belt to go with the shoes though. Just ordered the Carslbad in Walnut as well (taking advantage of the Anniversary Sale) - can't wait to try those out!

I bought my first Allen Edmonds shoe from one of the stores. I liked the McAllister even though I liked the Jefferson more I stayed with McAllister. After taking it home I found two issues with the shoes, one shoe had a small discolored patch and the other one had a nick next to the eyelet. Disappointed, had to spend 2hrs to return it back and now I have to wait for two more weeks to get a replacement. The sales person handled it well but I would expect better quality at the stores.
No, I do not recommend this product.

For the McAllister in Walnut Calf, we recommend using Allen Edmonds Conditioner Cleaner, Walnut Premium Shoe Polish, and Neutral Carnauba Wax when caring for your shoes.

Use Allen Edmonds Conditioner Cleaner to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. Allen Edmonds Shoe Polish is best used for regular polishing and achieving a lustrous glow and Carnauba Wax is known for imparting a richer glow to fine leathers. The choice between Shoe Polish and Carnauba Wax really comes down to individual preference on how shiny or rich in color you want your Allen Edmonds shoes to be. Our Walnut Premium Shoe Polish, however, is the most popular option.

I've been wanting to purchase these pair of shoes for a while now, but I'm just a bit scared that I might order a small size. I fit into the Verona's in a size 11(D) perfectly and I would like to know if I should order the same size on these shoes as well.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

Our McAllister style is constructed on our 5-Last (65), which is the longest in length of our lasts and is the best fit for a long, narrow foot. By selecting shoes manufactured on the same last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit. The Verona, however, is a member of our Italian Collection and so has a Bologna construction method which most resembles that of our Handsewn styles.

Typically the same size and last can be ordered in all of our shoes. However, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape. The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

Both the McAllister and the MacNeil styles are great for business and casual wear alike. The McAllister is a balmoral style dress shoe constructed on our 5-Last; this last shape is the longest in length of our lasts and fits best on a long, narrow foot. As a member of our Timeless Classics collection, the McAllister is one of our long-time favorite among customers. The MacNeil is a blucher style dress shoe, allowing for more room at the instep, constructed on our 7-Last which is the best fit for the average foot and lays flatter in the toe area. The MacNeil is available in calfskin like the McAllister, but is also a member of our Cordovan Collection which is made from genuine Horween shell cordovan.

Ultimately, what each individual chooses to pair their Allen Edmonds with is their own decision; we encourage customers to purchase and wear what they feel most comfortable in.

Answer:
The MacNeil and McAllister are both wing tips, but they are different. The MacNeil is a blucher - meaning open lacing where the lacing opening is not connected at the bottom. The McAllister is a balmoral where the lacing opening is connected at the bottom. The MacNeil will probably fit better if you have a high instep.

The MacNeil is a longwing - the wing tip portion extends all the way around the shoe. The McAllister is a traditional wing tip where the wingtip only goes about half way back.

The MacNeil is on the 7 last versus the 5 last for the McAllister. The 7 last us much more fuller fitting than the 5 last which tends to run narrower than other lasts.

The MacNeil has a double sole versus the McAllister's single sole.

As far as business wear - both would be equally appropriate for business wear in my opinion.

How To Measure Your Feet For The Best Fit

Allen Edmonds creates shoes with the highest standards of craftsmanship and style to give you the best experience possible.

Our commitment to excellence starts with ensuring you have the right shoes for your personal needs and sizing. With more and more customers preferring the convenience of online shopping, we've developed easy-to-use tools to help ensure you take accurate measurements and get the proper fit with your shoes. To get a truly professional fitting, we recommend visiting an Allen Edmonds Master Fitter at any one of our retail stores. However, if an Allen Edmonds store is not located near you, this Shoe Fit Guide is designed to help ensure your Allen Edmonds shoes are the best possible fit.

Helpful Tools

Tip #1: Measure At A Time That Fits
Feet tend to swell in different circumstances and at different times of the day. We suggest you measure your feet during the midday or late afternoon after you have been on your feet for some time.

Tip #2: Wear Socks When Measuring
Wear the type of socks that you'll likely be wearing with your new shoes, as the thickness of the socks may affect your measurements.

Tip #3: Stand Straight and Balanced
When you do the measuring, be sure both feet are on the ground and you're balanced and straight to get the proper foot placement.

Tip #4: Get Someone To Help You
You need to have a friend help you take the measurements because if you were to try to take your measurements yourself, when bending down to mark your length and width, your sizing would be affected. Make sure your friend takes your measurements looking straight down at the Shoe Fit Guide. Even viewing it at a slight angle may affect the outcome.

Tip #5: Give Yourself A Bit of Room
If your measurement is on a length line, we recommend you go to the next half-size longer in order to give your toes a bit of room.

Tip #6: One Foot Larger Is Common
Almost everyone has one foot larger than the other. The key is to determine your size from the measurement of the larger of your two feet. And obviously, be sure to measure both feet.

CARING FOR CALFSKIN & GRAIN LEATHERS
Use Allen Edmonds Conditioner Cleaner to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Carnauba Wax Polish, Premium Polish or Shoe Cream with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry. Remove excess polish by brushing with a horsehair shine brush and buff to a desired shine.

CARING FOR BURNISHED CALFSKIN
To remove the slight haze you may notice with a new pair of burnished calfskin shoes, wipe them with a soft cloth or brush with a horsehair shine brush. Clean regularly with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry. Then apply a medium coat of Allen Edmonds Premium Polish in the appropriate color and allow to air dry. Brush with a horsehair shine brush to remove excess polish and buff using a cotton flannel cloth.

Our 360° Goodyear welted footwear is characterized by its durability, comfort and fit. The manufacturing process consists of over 200 steps. The process begins with the cutting of the leather. Patterned dies are used, and pieces are cut based on the style. Skilled handsewers then stitch the vamps, plugs, foxes and quarters together to form the uppers. Next, each last is selected according to the style and size. The insole is attached to the bottom of the last. Then, the upper is pulled over the last with great care to make certain that seams are straight. The 360° welt is stitched around the perimeter of the outsole, eliminating the need for the rigid metal shank that is found in most other shoe brands. A heated cork layer between the insole and outsole allows each foot to form its own uniquely shaped print for true custom comfort. Finally, finishing touches are applied, and shoes are inspected to ensure perfection before being packaged.

This Style is recraftable

This style is recraftable®.

Allen Edmonds 360° welted shoes are so well-made that we can actually return them to their original glory with our exclusive Recrafting process. Using the original manufacturing process, we literally rebuild worn footwear from the bottom up.

When you send your shoes in for Recrafting, our experts will first free the uppers from worn soles. Stretched over the proper last, the original uppers become shoes again through our unique manufacturing process. After your shoes are re-welted, re-corked, soled and heeled, old finishes are carefully removed from the leather and new polishes and waxes applied. In about four weeks, shoes that look surprisingly new are returned to you.
