14 Amok - Men's Plain-toe Lace-up Oxford Chukka Boots by Allen Edmonds It's fair to say the design team thought our head of production was running amok when he sidestepped them and drafted the concept for a desert boot with a hard leather sole. But when the design team finally got a look at it they were pleasantly surprised, and the Amok was born. Playing the trend towards unconstructed blazers, this two-eyelet Chukka boot has an unlined body that effortlessly molds to the contours of your foot, ensuring a personal fit. Offset by the sole's toasted sidewall, each of the Amok's antiqued suede colors make an ideal companion to a pair of jeans and a button down. The storm-welted and oil-soaked butyl sole is designed to stand up to inclement weather, making this boot a better fit for fall and winter than most suede shoes. The Amok is the must-have footwear for the modern man who knows that rules are made to be broken. I wear a B width and shoes such as this just do not come in narrow sizes from anyone. Glad AE finally produced one. Will most likely add a darker color later in the year. I found the B width at first a bit snug but the unlined shoe quickly molds to our foot and within a few hours was perfect.

The shoe does not live up to AE standards and what you expect as a consumer. The sole blemishes too easily and makes them need an immediate touch up to ensure they look as you expected them to.
Is it me or do they squeak as you walk. It was not worth the purchase price.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Overall in terms of style. the Amok is a very nice shoe. Though the Amok runs pretty narrow, I figured it would stretch. Unfortunately, due to this stretching, guys with wide feet like me, may cause the suede to tear, which it did on mine.
If you're feet are narrow, this shoe wouldn't be a bad shoe to wear. But since I have wide feet, and there's a tear on my shoe from this, I wasn't happy with it.
No, I do not recommend this product.

My fourth AE shoe and probably not my last, but sadly disappointed with the Amok.
The fit is.....just strange. And not at all similar to any of my other AE shoes. The quality seems to be lacking as well with quite a few nicks on the edge of the sole right out of the box. I realize these are soft sided and unlined, but the leather seems much poorer quality that I'd expect.
From a pure looks standpoint, they look great. But the fit and quality leave much to be desired.
No, I do not recommend this product.

I love the look of these shoes, but because they have a more chiseled toe box , I'm concerned that regular shoe tree with not fit or will stretch out the shoe. Am I mistaken, or is there a different type of shoe tree I should purchase?

Both the Full-toe and Combination Cedar Shoe Trees will fit your Amok or any other shoe style; however, the Combination Shoe Tree features an overhang heel and an expandable split-toe making this a highly functional shoe tree. The main purpose of shoe trees is to deodorize and maintain the shape of your shoes; either option will work well.

I purchased a pair of McAllister's 2 months ago, and had to go down one half size since the wingtip makes the shoe a bit longer. Now these are great and very comfortable, but I need a more casual shoe at times, so the Tan Suede Amok is my choice.

As in the McAllisters I purchased, should I order one half size down or should I go for true fit?

I have the mc tavish which is similar to the mc allister and bought my same size for each and both are very comfortable. AE shoes especially the 5 last do run longish at the toe but with not worries

The Amok is manufactured on our 4-Last (234) which is similar to our 7-Last in that it is the best fit for the average foot, but features a slightly more squared toe. The McAllister is manufactured on our 5-Last (65) which is the longest in length of our lasts and the best fit for a long, narrow foot. By selecting shoes manufactured on the same last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit.

Typically the same size and last can be ordered in all of our shoes. However, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape. The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

How To Measure Your Feet For The Best Fit

With more and more customers preferring the convenience of online shopping, we've developed easy-to-use tools to help ensure you take accurate measurements and get the proper fit with your shoes. To get a truly professional fitting, we recommend visiting an Allen Edmonds Master Fitter at any one of our retail stores. However, if an Allen Edmonds store is not located near you, this Shoe Fit Guide is designed to help ensure your Allen Edmonds shoes are the best possible fit.

Helpful Tools

Tip #1: Measure At A Time That Fits
Feet tend to swell in different circumstances and at different times of the day. We suggest you measure your feet during the midday or late afternoon after you have been on your feet for some time.

Tip #2: Wear Socks When Measuring
Wear the type of socks that you'll likely be wearing with your new shoes, as the thickness of the socks may affect your measurements.

Tip #3: Stand Straight and Balanced
When you do the measuring, be sure both feet are on the ground and you're balanced and straight to get the proper foot placement.

Tip #4: Get Someone To Help You
You need to have a friend help you take the measurements because if you were to try to take your measurements yourself, when bending down to mark your length and width, your sizing would be affected. Make sure your friend takes your measurements looking straight down at the Shoe Fit Guide. Even viewing it at a slight angle may affect the outcome.

Tip #5: Give Yourself A Bit of Room
If your measurement is on a length line, we recommend you go to the next half-size longer in order to give your toes a bit of room.

Tip #6: One Foot Larger Is Common
Almost everyone has one foot larger than the other. The key is to determine your size from the measurement of the larger of your two feet. And obviously, be sure to measure both feet.
