The literal translation of Delray is "of the king", a fitting moniker given how our loyal Allen Edmonds customer has pledged his allegiance to this model, making it a top-seller year in and year out. Part of its appeal is based on the dramatic interplay between the tapered split toe and the plug overlay, two unique features rarely found on a quality dress shoe. This five-eyelet blucher is further set apart from our other formal styles because it is designed on the 8-Last to give it an elongated forepart that corresponds well with all manner of professional attire. Whether your daily outfit includes a suit or dress slacks, we assure you that the Delray will quickly become the crown jewel of your wardrobe.

A leather sole has a special feel and traditional look that can't be beat. But in certain inclement weather situations or for guys whose jobs involve lots of time on their feet, it can be good to have the traction and stability that only a rubber sole can add. So you don't have to choose between these two options, we decided to fuse them into the tap sole, a leather sole with V-tread rubber inserts on the forefoot and heel. Polished yet practical for the ultimate presence and performance, the tap sole will have you walking tall, and that's no song and dance.

The good and the bad. Love the fit, feel and look of these shoes. I've never had a pair of quality dress shoes as comfortable as these. Here's the only caveat: About a third of the way down the shoe, from the toe, the leather on top of the shoe has sunk in . There is a bend in the shoe at this point and it has caused the top third of the shoe to "stick up" as opposed to being level with the rest of the shoe. Have always had wooden forms in the shoes when not wearing, so I'm not really sure what's going on. April 25, 2015
great looking classic Good quality shoes are becoming difficult to find. Spend a little more and you will have them a lifetime, spend less and replace them in 1-1/2 to 2 years. They are worth the extra few dollars for an american made product work. They look great and I can have them on all day at a trade show without sore feet. Great job guys! January 29, 2015
Disappointing experience 2 issues worth noting regarding my recent Delray purchase: 1. significant defect in leather should have never made it past quality control. 2. Shoes ran extremely long, use of online size guide was misleading. As a result, shoes have been shipped back. I expected more from Allen Edmonds. January 25, 2015
Very frustrated and disappointed! I currently have 20 pair of AE shoes in my closet! Not long ago I purchased the Delray's in size 10-D in chili; they fit a little long and tight in the toes. Then I purchased the Delray's with the combination tap sole but in a 9 1/2 E in black to compensate for the tight and long fit of the previous pair. These shoes are long and hurt my toes badly. Plus, they bend at a point very close to the toe that is so different than any other AE shoe of mine. What can I say other than I am very frustrated and disappointed. Looks great, feels terrible! Answer:
The Combination tap sole provides more traction than a leather sole, it also holds up better in wet conditions. The Delray is offered standard with a single oak leather sole. You can find by clicking on this link: http://www.allenedmonds.com/aeonlin...

Since you quit making as many A widths. I am having a hard time finding AE shoes, which I love.

I have a pair of AE Stockridge that have the thick padded insoles that are much to tight in the laces because of my high instep. Will the Delray be the same deal? Hurts to take hit on Ebay selling them used.

What would be my best fit with AE, considering I have a 10.5A and a high instep. Leeds have worked great for the instep, but you no longer make them in A width.

Thanks.

Answer:
The Delray style does not include the PORON cushioned insole like the Stockbridge style. However, keep in mind that each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape. The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, remember that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The Delray and the LaSalle are very similar styles that feature the same fit as they are both manufactured on the same 8-Last (108). The difference lies in the pattern; the LaSalle features additional stitching details at the heel, as well as at the seams of the vamp and the toe.

I own the Park Avenue (65 last), Bradley (511 last), and Bridgeton (79 last ??). Of all these, the Park Avenue fits best. I have a long narrow foot, (size 11.5 B), high arches and normal tapered toe shape.

Now I am looking at the Delray (108 last). How does the fit compare to the Park Avenue? Would you recommend this or any other lasts/styles for me?

Thank you

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The Park Avenue is constructed on our 5-Last (65) which is the longest in length of our lasts and fits best on a long, narrow foot. The Bradley was constructed on our 1-Last (511), which is good for the average foot and has a more rounded, fuller fitting toe. The Bridgeton is manufactured on our 9-Last (79) which has a tapered back portion that pushes the foot forward to fit low across the top of the foot rather than the instep. The Delray is constructed on our 8-Last (108), which features an elongated forepart with a tapered and flatter toe; it is similar in fit to the Park Avenue in that it is also good for a long, narrow foot. We also suggest trying styles constructed on the 3-Last (333) which has an elongated profile with a square toe shape for a more euro look.

Keep in mind that by selecting shoes manufactured on the same last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit. The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

I own a Delray (it was a gift) and I love the look and the quality. However, they are very difficult to wear for a long day because they are too narrow at my toes. I thought they might soften a bit and become more comfortable, but now I don't want to wear them because my feet hurt for a couple days after I walk more than a little bit in them. I have had them for a year or so and have worn them 12-18 times.

Is there an adjustment that can be made or should I replace them? What models should I choose from given that this last seems to be not a good fit for me?

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. Depending on the age and condition of the shoe, leathers may stretch and wear over long periods of time. If you are unhappy with the fit of your Delray’s, we recommend contacting our customer service center at cacmail@allenedmonds.com or 1-800-235-2348 (Mon-Fri 7:00AM-6PM CST); they will be better able to help recommend you a more appropriate size.

I have a Delray (chili split toe) that's woven on the top of the shoe. I believe the style is 3160. (There is also another number 56703). Has this style been discontinued and replaced by the 1298 Burnished Calf? Your shoe care reference guide is useful but I want to be sure I'm selecting the correct polish and cleaner. Many thanks.

Can you provide a shoe with a removable insole? I'd like to use my orthotics.

Also, what style for a dress shoe in $300- $350 range would you recommend given my wish to replace insole? I like the Del-Rey.

Thanks,

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

We only manufacture a select number of styles with our removable footbed. As well, Allen Edmonds Replacement Orthotic Insoles are designed for a select number of styles which feature removable orthotics. You can find the complete Allen Edmonds Orthotic Collection of shoes by clicking here: http://www.allenedmonds.com/aeonlin...?.

However, if the shoe is fit large enough, these inserts can be used in almost any of our shoes. Depending on your foot shape and preferred fit, typically we recommend ordering a size up. The best way to get a proper fit with your orthotic inserts is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.
