Rush Street, ever changing, has remained a nightlife hub in downtown Chicago for decades. This type of reinvention keeps things fresh and that's why we apply the same notion to our shoes. Inspired by the best selling Strand, our Rush Street dresses down the uptown cap-toe balmoral design for a downtown atmosphere. By keeping the classic perfing and pinking we've underscored the shoe's sophisticated heritage, but by outfitting it in a golden brown Chromexcel® leather we've made it the perfect complement to your dark denim jeans and fitted twill pants. The finishes on the regular welt, collar and stacked heel are left natural to highlight the patina the leather will take on as it gets better with age. For comfort, the inside has a foam insole while the outside features a black Dainite rubber sole making the Rush Street the type of shoe that always stays in style no matter how much the times change.

This Shoe Rocks the Boat This is one of the coolest and eye popping shoes I've ever seen. Hands down. The Streets are a casual shoe for sure, but it will dress up your casual wear in a good way. The uppers are amazingly detailed with the pinking and perforations. I thought I may not like shoes that have perfing and pinking, but now that I see it in person, I know it will be a great shoe to wear with chinos, khakis or jeans. SUPERB. The coolest part of the Streets for me is the wooden center heel stack and the lighter contrasting welting around the shoe. It pops right out and adds character and charm. The Dainite sole is spot on in keeping with the casual look. The black sole adds a great contrast to the lighter welting, laces and piping. The Dainite is very comfortable and does feel "like" your standing on leather (but quieter and softer). This shoe takes classy and takes it to the level of cool. As far as sizing, I own a pair of the Park Avenues in 10.5D. The PA's fit like a glove and leave about an half inch/inch of toe space in front and less than a fingers space in the heel when my feet are all the way forward in the shoe. The Rush Street is the same last as PA's, but you should consider the Street has a stiffer sole out of the box compared to the PA's (Dainite vs leather sole). Because of this, the Street will not bend as easily to start out. This in turn could cause more heel slippage than normal. I do think the soles are starting to break in and do loosen up. I'm wearing it around the house to start with, so you should do the same and give it time to break-in. The chromexcel leather will break in over time too. I think a shoe's heel counter tends to break in more over time too, which in turn will cause less heel slippage. For reference, my heels are on the thinner to normal side. Another observation. If you tie a bar lacing on these Streets (laces go straight across each pair of eyelets), the shoe will not grip the top of the feet as well (for my foot shape at least), and in turn there will be more heel slippage. I thought at first the shoes were too long compared to the PA's. But then, I tied the lacing as I have on my PA's (criss-cross lacing) and the slippage was subdued greatly. Now I'm confident the shoes are not too long and fit fine just like my Park Avenues. I hope these explanations helps someone understand some of the causes of heel slippage. It may not be the shoe is too long, but the lacing and other factors mentioned above. You don't want your feet to feel cramped and tight either so consider the above before sizing down. One more note. The insole is padded and softer than a leather insole. I like it. The softness adds a little more comfort to me. The inner sole should conform more to your feet over time just like any of the other corked layer AE shoes. All in all, well done AE! Please keep moving forward and design more great classic shoes like the Rush Street. This is a shoe that bucks the traditional trend with style and class. June 22, 2015
Amazing shoes My first pair of Allen Edmonds in chromexcel, and I gotta say they are amazing! The fit, the look, and the style all synchronize into an amazing pair of shoes that can be worn casual or formal anywhere you go. Once your feet warm up the leather, you can expect a glove-like fit since the leather stretches so well. Because of this I suggest trying a width or length smaller than your usual size to make sure it doesn't get really loose as it breaks in. Expect compliments on your shoes! April 21, 2015
Versatile shoe This has been a great shoe for me. With the Danite sole, it's an obvious choice for those days when the streets are wet. It pairs well with jeans, khakis, or even dress pants. I have several pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes, and this one is my favorite (so far!). I would recommend this shoe without hesitation! April 3, 2015
Excellent, Well-Rounded Shoe I did a lot of research before purchasing these, so I feel out of principal I need to follow up and add to all the reviewers I read prior to purchasing. I wear slacks and a tie to work every day. I own a number of Allen Edmonds and Alden shoes already. I was going on a business trip and tried to think of the ideal shoe to allow for "dressy enough" during the day, but also "casual enough" to wear with jeans at night after work. I also wanted something comfortable since I'd be walking a lot. Bottom line, these were an exceptional choice. The balmoral lacing and 5 last give the shoe a dress shape that allows it to seamlessly blend with proper dress clothes. But the perforations and antiquing also give the shoe a casual flair that make it go great with jeans. The honey brown chromexcel color is just dark enough to work, but not too light, like natural chromexcel, which would make it too casual for business attire. The Dainite sole is a huge winner and I've since bought a couple other shoes with it since I like it so much. It does not lend itself to a pure "cushiony" feel like some of the orthotic rubber soles, but it has more cushion to it than the regular single leather soles, which makes it great for all day walking. I highly recommend these shoes. March 13, 2015

Answer:
Yes, the Rush Street is handcrafted using the 360 degree Goodyear welted construction during which a cork layer is applied under the insole. The combination of the cork layer along with the Poron foam insole and shock absorbing Dainite sole is what makes this such a comfortable style!

The Clark is offered in natural and black Chromexcel. Is there going to be a future product offering with the Rush shoe with Natural & Dainite sole ( brick color) and Black & Dainite (black)?

I have in my shoe care supplies the Allen Edmonds Spray Waterproofer that specifies to waterproof & protect all types of leather. Your prior response suggests you no longer recommend waterproofing products. If this is correct, are you confirming that Allen Edmonds Spray Waterproofer is now obsolete? Also would you consider a product such as mink oil unadvisable for your leather boots & shoes? Your previous reply suggests that you regard overshoes as the only satisfactory method of protecting Allen Edmonds leather shoes & boots of any type.

Thank you for your consideration of this question.

Answer:
We don’t recommend mink oil because the heavy oils can drastically change the color of the leather. Our Spray Waterproofer should be primarily used on suede, nubuck, and fabrics to protect against rain and stains. It is not recommended for use on cordovan, and burnished calfskins. If you are concerned about wet or snowy weather conditions when wearing fine leather shoe, we recommend using SWIMS overshoes which is a great way to protect your investments and they allow you to wear your favorite shoes regardless of weather conditions.

Answer:
Allen Edmonds shoes can be susceptible to water damage as leather is a naturally porous material. We do not recommend using waterproofing products because they clog the pores of the leather which will affect the quality and longevity of the shoe.

We recommend trying the Swims ‘Classic’ Overshoes which are a great way to protect your investments and allow you to wear your favorite shoes regardless of weather conditions.

The website photos suggest that the Olive Distressed Leather used for the Neumok is more bleached out than the Olive Distressed Leather used for the Rush Street. Are the photos accurate or, instead, is the same leather used for both shoes? If the same leather, which photo (for the Neumok or for the Rush Street) most closely reflects the actual color of these shoes?

Answer:
The same Olive leather is used on the Rush Street and the Neumok styles. The difference is the burnishing techniques used on the Rush street which makes it considerably darker in appearance. Also keep in mind that our hand-crafting process as well as the natural properties of the leather produces a unique pair of shoes every time.

Yes. This uses a 360 degree goodyear welt. If it can be recrafted then that means just the sole can be easily replaced as well.
