This is my my 7th pair of AE shoes and my second time around with the Walton. Awhile ago they discontinued it and I searched in vain for a split toe to take it's place. AE service is simply outstanding. The first pair I had were accidentally ruined during recrafting. Since it was discontinued they gave me a brand new pair of Delrays. I should have returned them as they were too narrow - the lesson here is that each shoe fits differently based on the last so make sure they are comfortable when you put them on. In any event when they re released the Walton I happily bought another pair. I recently sent them in for recrafting and due to the insoles shifting they could not recraft them. Did they send them back? Nope - they called and informed me of the situation and offered to send me a brand new pair for the recrafting cost. Simply awesome customer service and the reason I keep coming back. At these prices I don't buy shoes as often but the price reflects the quality. You simply can't recraft cheaper shoes so in the end you end up spending almost as much but with nothing to show for it. My next pair will be the Waltons in Chili. Thank you for a great product and great service!

This is my sixth pair of AE shoes. I ordered them online. Was very simple but I got a shoe that fit slightly small. So I called and was sent a return label. In a few days they shoe with the proper fit came. They fit perfectly and were excellent quality that I expected of AE. This is customer service that made this country GREAT.

The Walton is my first AE purchase.
I had put off buying AE shoes for awhile. I thought the pricing was a bit high. But you know what? The old saying is true: You get what you pay for. I bought the Walton in Black & Chili colors. (The chili color is a great color when contrasting with a blue suit) They have a nice sheen and a good fit. They do need to be broken in though. So keep that in mind when ordering AE shoes. But that is quality. They smell like quality shoes as well. That may sound silly but......
Today's shoes bought over the internet from other manufacturers use cheap leather (or even vinyl) and smell like they were manufactured in an oil field. (Trust me I have tried a few) Not AE shoes though.
These shoes have the heft, feel and look like quality shoes. The thickness of the soles, the chunky heel and the detailing are a mark of quality.
Before I add to my AE shoe collection (I am going with my favorite style, the Wingtip next) I want to see how long it takes to break in the Walton shoe.

Typically our customers can wear the same size in each of our shoes. However, our various lasts can fit different feet differently.

The best way to get a shoe with the right fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. You can find our store locations by clicking “Store Locator” at the top of the page, or by following this link: http://www.allenedmonds.com/aeonlin...

If it is not possible to get into a store, you can order from us risk-free. We are offering free returns online through January 2nd. Returns to any of our stores are always free.

You may return any product ordered on AllenEdmonds.com in unused condition. Trying the shoe on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

You could use almost any of the dark brown dress belts. I think the Brown Pebble Grain would be a very handsome match for a great pair of Brown Waltons. It would also be a very versatile addition to your wardrobe for casual or a dressy casual dinner party.

How To Measure Your Feet For The Best Fit

With more and more customers preferring the convenience of online shopping, we've developed easy-to-use tools to help ensure you take accurate measurements and get the proper fit with your shoes. To get a truly professional fitting, we recommend visiting an Allen Edmonds Master Fitter at any one of our retail stores. However, if an Allen Edmonds store is not located near you, this Shoe Fit Guide is designed to help ensure your Allen Edmonds shoes are the best possible fit.

Helpful Tools

Tip #1: Measure At A Time That Fits
Feet tend to swell in different circumstances and at different times of the day. We suggest you measure your feet during the midday or late afternoon after you have been on your feet for some time.

Tip #2: Wear Socks When Measuring
Wear the type of socks that you'll likely be wearing with your new shoes, as the thickness of the socks may affect your measurements.

Tip #3: Stand Straight and Balanced
When you do the measuring, be sure both feet are on the ground and you're balanced and straight to get the proper foot placement.

Tip #4: Get Someone To Help You
You need to have a friend help you take the measurements because if you were to try to take your measurements yourself, when bending down to mark your length and width, your sizing would be affected. Make sure your friend takes your measurements looking straight down at the Shoe Fit Guide. Even viewing it at a slight angle may affect the outcome.

Tip #5: Give Yourself A Bit of Room
If your measurement is on a length line, we recommend you go to the next half-size longer in order to give your toes a bit of room.

Tip #6: One Foot Larger Is Common
Almost everyone has one foot larger than the other. The key is to determine your size from the measurement of the larger of your two feet. And obviously, be sure to measure both feet.

CARING FOR BURNISHED CALFSKIN
To remove the slight haze you may notice with a new pair of burnished calfskin shoes, wipe them with a soft cloth or brush with a horsehair shine brush. Clean regularly with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry. Then apply a medium coat of Allen Edmonds Premium Polish in the appropriate color and allow to air dry. Brush with a horsehair shine brush to remove excess polish and buff using a cotton flannel cloth.

CARING FOR CALFSKIN & GRAIN LEATHERS
Use Allen Edmonds Conditioner Cleaner to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Carnauba Wax Polish, Premium Polish or Shoe Cream with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry. Remove excess polish by brushing with a horsehair shine brush and buff to a desired shine.

Our 360° Goodyear welted footwear is characterized by its durability, comfort and fit. The manufacturing process consists of over 200 steps. The process begins with the cutting of the leather. Patterned dies are used, and pieces are cut based on the style. Skilled handsewers then stitch the vamps, plugs, foxes and quarters together to form the uppers. Next, each last is selected according to the style and size. The insole is attached to the bottom of the last. Then, the upper is pulled over the last with great care to make certain that seams are straight. The 360° welt is stitched around the perimeter of the outsole, eliminating the need for the rigid metal shank that is found in most other shoe brands. A heated cork layer between the insole and outsole allows each foot to form its own uniquely shaped print for true custom comfort. Finally, finishing touches are applied, and shoes are inspected to ensure perfection before being packaged.

Allen Edmonds 360° welted shoes are so well-made that we can actually return them to their original glory with our exclusive Recrafting process. Using the original manufacturing process, we literally rebuild worn footwear from the bottom up.

When you send your shoes in for Recrafting, our experts will first free the uppers from worn soles. Stretched over the proper last, the original uppers become shoes again through our unique manufacturing process. After your shoes are re-welted, re-corked, soled and heeled, old finishes are carefully removed from the leather and new polishes and waxes applied. In about four weeks, shoes that look surprisingly new are returned to you.
