When Izaak Walton was penning The Compleat Angler over 350 years ago, he didn't only decide to write about fishing, but also to include a little bit of philosophy, poetry, politics and humor so that his work would have universal appeal. Some three centuries later, when we were designing the writer's namesake shoe, we too decided to include something for everyone. For the businessman looking for versatility and formality, the five-eyelet blucher design is as classic as it gets. For those that like more pronounced design elements, this model features an elaborate Algonquin-toe and a well-defined top plug created with intricate stitching. And for the man that is on his feet all day and needs to be confident that his shoe can withstand everything that is thrown at it, the Walton is not only built on the 3-Last to give you a roomier fit, but also has a double oak sole and a split reverse welt to ensure you'll have protection from the elements. Whether you choose the Walton for one of these reason or all three, you can be sure it will make almost any outfit you wear with it feel complete.

I wanted these to work so much-but they havent worked out for me I SO wanted these to work. I love the look, the split toe blucher is the best. I first tried another style that didnt work, so I then tried these. I first tried the 8 1/2 EEE, and they were too long (even though Im usually 8 1/2 or 9 EEE) so I went down to 8 EEE, and theyre still a little long. I even spoke with a salesperson and described my foot and what Ive tried in the past & this was their recomendation as well. Ive tried breaking them in for well over 2 years, and still they just dont make my feet feel good. Why so long? Well I dont wear a suit for work but a few times a month, so I would have hoped by now they would have felt right, but I havent been happy. Ive tried to have them softened several times, tried a bunyan stretcher.. no help. Man, I really wanted these to work, but now they just sit with my oak shoe trees in them.. May 18, 2014
High expectations-no dissappointment These shoes represent the quality, good looks and fit of Allen Edmonds shoes. I have been wearing AE shoes for many years, but, because of their quality, have only bought 5 pair, according to my shoe box collection. I was apprehensive about buying this pair over the internet, but the reviews allowed me to overcome that fear. I knew I loved them when I opened the box. I put them on and wore them all day on the job, which involved considerable walking indoors and between buildings. My only thought about them all day was how comfortable they are and how good they look. Looks like I'll be wearing these for a few years! January 15, 2014
Great shoe I've worn this shoe for approximately 6-8 months. It may be the most comfortable AE shoe I own and I own over 8 pair. It's a little heavy but once it's broken in it fits and feels perfect. I would say this is an "industrial strength" shoe and looks great with slacks. It's a little casual looking for me to wear with suits because of the larger sole, etc. I highly recommend it. stylish nice shoes I purchased a pair of walton in (Chili Burnished Calf) when you brought it back as classic/timeless classic. Is a nice shoe and the width is just right no change compare to your other shoes like (Broadstreet which i have already wrote my review about, that the width runs narrow. I'll soon send my (Walton Shoes) to you for recrafting. August 3, 2013

I am very comfortable in a la salle (108 last) with a 10.5 D. Do you think that this would translate faithfully to a 10.5 D in a Walton (73 last)?

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The LaSalle is manufactured on our 8-Last (108) which has an elongated forepart with a tapered and flatter toe. The Walton style is constructed on our 3-Last (73) which features more room over the instep due to being wider across the ball of the foot. By selecting shoes manufactured on the same last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit. However, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape.

The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help keep the shoe in returnable condition.

my foot splays out, making my left foot feel like i am hitting the front of the shoe. I'm measuring a 9.5 D, yet the D feels tight. The E leaves too much room in the ankle, so it feels like the shoe will come off. What should I do?

The Walton is manufactured on our 3-Last (73) while the Leeds is manufactured on our 1-Last (511). The 3-Last is wider across the ball of the foot with more room over the instep of the shoe. Meanwhile, the 1-Last (511) which is best fit for the average foot and has a rounded fuller fitting toe. By selecting shoes manufactured on the same last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit.

Typically the same size and last can be ordered in all of our shoes. Hi

I have the Easton and the Kennett in a 10B. They are an exact fit in the width, i.e., I couldn't wear a thick sock with them but a dress sock fits fine. Can I expect a similar fit--especially in the width--from the Walton?

Thank you

The Easton is manufactured on our 0-Last (000), while the Kennett is manufactured on our 4-Last (234) and the Walton on our 3-Last (73). The 0-Last features a sleek silhouette due to a more pronounced cone and elongated forepart with a subtly clipped toe; our 4-Last is fairly similar to the 7-Last in that it is the best fit for the average foot, but has a slightly more squared toe; finally, the 3-Last is wider across the ball of the foot with more room over the instep of the shoe. By selecting shoes manufactured on the last that most resembles the contours of one’s fee, customers will achieve a superior fit.

Typically the same size can be ordered in all of our shoes. However, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape. What color / style of pants go with chili? Great color but not sure if it's a straight brown replacement. Have some brown hounds tooth pants and several others that can't go with black. I need a color shoe that will go with anything I can't wear black with.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The Walton, one of our Timeless Classics at Allen Edmonds, is the perfect dress shoe as it offers both versatility and formality. What’s great about our Chili Burnished Calf though, is it can give even the most formal of shoes a more casual look.

We recommend wearing our Chili Burnished Calf style like you would normally wear a solid tone brown or tan shoe. Whether paired with a navy blue suit, light gray and browns, or jeans, this dress shoe is a classic addition for any outfit.

Ultimately, what each individual chooses is their own decision; we encourage customers to purchase and wear what they feel most comfortable in.

I recently purchased a pair of these shoes and I have found different opinions online about when the shoe should be sent in for recrafting. Since this shoe has a double sole, is it still acceptable to wear it until the cork starts to show, or is it supposed to be recrafted after the first layer of sole is worn through?

Answer:
I have recrafted only one pair of AE shoes thus far, but soon will send in my second pair. It's time, in my opinion, when the stitching wears down and blends with the leather sole, and/or the uppers are incapable of maintaining an appropriate look after regular shoe care and polishing.

Thank you for your interest.

Typically our customers can wear the same size in each of our shoes. However, our various lasts can fit different feet differently.

The best way to get a shoe with the right fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. You can find our store locations by clicking “Store Locator” at the top of the page, or by following this link: http://www.allenedmonds.com/aeonlin...

If it is not possible to get into a store, you can order from us risk-free. We are offering free returns online through January 2nd. Returns to any of our stores are always free.

You may return any product ordered on AllenEdmonds.com in unused condition. Trying the shoe on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

You could use almost any of the dark brown dress belts. I think the Brown Pebble Grain would be a very handsome match for a great pair of Brown Waltons. It would also be a very versatile addition to your wardrobe for casual or a dressy casual dinner party.
