Finch - Plain-toe Saddle Lace-up Oxford Men's Dress Shoes by Allen Edmonds
Dr. Seuss said quite simply "Fun is good." So it is on doctor's orders that we have created the Finch, the first saddle shoe in the Rough Collection. As colorful as any of the good doctor's books, this new shoe pairs the classic American saddle shoe with different types of leather to bring a never-before seen rugged element to this playful style. The finish of the solid waxed distressed leather will improve with time and, when combined with the heavier split-reverse welt and natural sidewall on the sole, helps make the Finch one of the most rugged saddle shoes on the market. Add in the exposed burnished brass eyelets which play off the contrast-color laces, and you can see why the Finch is going places and lighting up faces.

Are care instructions the same for both leather types on the Finch?
Answers
When caring for your Tan/Navy Leather, we recommend cleaning your Allen Edmonds shoes with Conditioner Cleaner followed by our Allen Edmonds Saddle Soap. Use Allen Edmonds Conditioner Cleaner to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable and follow with our Saddle Soap which cleans all smooth leather shoes while restoring the leatherâs natural oils.
Our Allen Edmonds Saddle Soap will not alter your pair of shoes; however, if preserving color is a concern we also offer our Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion which has been specially formulated for waxed leathers similar to that on the Finch. Keep in mind, it is also a good idea to use a different polishing cloth for each new colored leather to prevent cross-contamination between leathers.

Can polsh or cream be used in addition to Saddle Soap on the Finch?
Answers
We do not recommend using our Premium Shoe Polish or Shoe Cream on the Finch styles, like many of the styles in our Rough Collection. The majority of our Rough Collection features leather that has a natural oil finish. Because polishes and creams tend to carry a high dye concentration, this finish becomes susceptible to streaks and staining.
We recommend using our Allen Edmonds Conditioner Cleaner to remove surface area residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. Follow by applying our Saddle Soap which cleans all smooth leather shoes while restoring the leatherâs natural oils.

Part of what makes Allen Edmonds so unique is the wide variety of lasts we use to build our shoes. By selecting shoes manufactured on the same last that most resembles the contours of oneâs feet, customers will achieve a superior fit. Learn more about our lasts by selecting âAll About Lastsâ under Shoes 101 at the bottom of the page, or by clicking the following link: http://www.allenedmonds.com/aeonlin....
The Finch is manufactured on our 1-Last (511), which is very similar to the 7-Last (97) from heel to ball in that it is the best fit for the average foot, but features a more rounded and fuller fitting toe. The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

Is the Finch on the same platform as the Wilbert and Black Hills?
Answers
The Finch, Wilbert, and Black Hills are all part of our Goodyear Welted styles. However, there are ten different lasts used to manufacture our current welted footwear. Both the Finch and the Wilbert styles are manufactured on our 1-Last (511) which is similar to our 7-Last from heel to ball, but features a more rounded, fuller fitting toe. The Black Hills is manufactured on our 5-Last (65) which is the longest in length of our lasts, and the best fit for a long, narrow foot. By selecting shoes manufactured on the same last that most resembles the contours of oneâs feet, customers will achieve a superior fit.

What is the difference between an E or EEE designation for wide in the Finch?
Answers
From narrow to wide, each of our widths increase by a quarter of an inch in total girth, but will vary depending on the size of your foot and last on which the shoe style is manufactured. Therefore, an EEE is about 0.50 inches larger in circumference than an E width.
