17 New Orleans - Men's Cap-toe Lace-up Oxford Dress Shoes by Allen Edmonds Fittingly named after what Mark Twain called one of the few "unique" American cities, these one-of-a-kind shoes - in walnut perhaps - would have been a great choice for the writer as he toured Bourbon Street in his white suit and black string tie. The woven leather vamp allows the foot to breathe, making these bluchers perfect for the Big Easy's warm climate and a great way to take advantage of the breeze off the Gulf. The New Orleans style was created with a dressier fit in mind as it is a member of our Dress Shoe styles. This style is particular versatile as it has the ability to be dressed up, accompanied by a pair of slacks or a blue suit, and dressed down with a pair of blue jeans or khakis; they are the perfect foundation on which to build a great outfit.

Ultimately, what each individual chooses to pair their Allen Edmonds with is their own decision; we encourage customers to purchase and wear what they feel most comfortable in.

The New Orleans style features a lined leather upper, and breathes similarly to other lined leather upper styles. Custom Calf does not breathe as well as an unlined shoe, but does more so than cordovan leather styles.

How To Measure Your Feet For The Best Fit

Our commitment to excellence starts with ensuring you have the right shoes for your personal needs and sizing. With more and more customers preferring the convenience of online shopping, we've developed easy-to-use tools to help ensure you take accurate measurements and get the proper fit with your shoes. To get a truly professional fitting, we recommend visiting an Allen Edmonds Master Fitter at any one of our retail stores. However, if an Allen Edmonds store is not located near you, this Shoe Fit Guide is designed to help ensure your Allen Edmonds shoes are the best possible fit.

Helpful Tools

Tip #1: Measure At A Time That Fits
Feet tend to swell in different circumstances and at different times of the day. We suggest you measure your feet during the midday or late afternoon after you have been on your feet for some time.

Tip #2: Wear Socks When Measuring
Wear the type of socks that you'll likely be wearing with your new shoes, as the thickness of the socks may affect your measurements.

Tip #3: Stand Straight and Balanced
When you do the measuring, be sure both feet are on the ground and you're balanced and straight to get the proper foot placement.

Tip #4: Get Someone To Help You
You need to have a friend help you take the measurements because if you were to try to take your measurements yourself, when bending down to mark your length and width, your sizing would be affected. Make sure your friend takes your measurements looking straight down at the Shoe Fit Guide. Even viewing it at a slight angle may affect the outcome.

Tip #5: Give Yourself A Bit of Room
If your measurement is on a length line, we recommend you go to the next half-size longer in order to give your toes a bit of room.

Tip #6: One Foot Larger Is Common
Almost everyone has one foot larger than the other. The key is to determine your size from the measurement of the larger of your two feet. And obviously, be sure to measure both feet.
