Whether you are talking about the time-honored hand-sewn detailing or the full leather linings, this shoe is a classic example of American workmanship as well as a testament to our dedication to authenticity. Fittingly, this shoe also has a PORON® cushion inner, single oak leather sole as well as a fuller, rounded toe, making it a great shoe not only for long days at the office but also for long walks like the ones that inspired the man that inspired it.

Does Not Compare Well to Other Allen Edmonds Shoes I own several other pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes (Park Avenue, Strand, Broadstreet, McAllister, etc. and a 10-D always fits me perfectly and I am always impressed with the quality of the shoes. However, the Walden runs very short and very narrow. If I had to guess I would estimate a full size smaller. Also, the shoe feels very stiff and the finish on the shoes makes them look almost like patent leather. Essentially the shoe just doesn't look very good either. I Would not recommend this model. Size(width) doesn't match fit I bought two pair of these shoes(one burgundy and one black), I wore the burgundy a few times and found them extremely stiff and narrow. In most shoes I buy a D width and here I bought an E width but was still too tight...felt like a tourniquet around my foot. Beautiful shoe but bad fit, I returned the black but as I tried the burgundy I am stuck with that pair. March 6, 2013
Nice idea, but needs tweaking I'm a huge Allen Edmonds fan. I love what they do and what they stand for-great looks and great value. I own 6 pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes, and will continue to buy more in the future. The Walden does not fit, in my opinion, in with other Allen Edmonds shoes. First, the Walden's leather appears to be corrected grain. To an uneducated shoe buyer, this may be appealing. Corrected grain leather appears to have a polished sheen on top of it. It is so polished, in fact, that one cannot see the pores of the leather in the way one can do, say, with the Park Avenue or Fifth Avenue. This is because the grain has been sanded down to make it more consistent. The result is that corrected grain leather can look extremely polished-maybe even like patent leather. However, corrected grain is a lower quality leather that is just dyed and polished to look like an expensive leather. Thus, my first criticism would be for AE to step up and offer the Walden in a nice, full grain leather. Versus corrected grain, full grain would be much more supple and mold to the foot much in the way other AE shoes do. Second, and related to the first, the finish on the Walden appears to be sprayed on. I love polishing my shoes (and use premium shoe polishes and creams from Saphir, the best polish maker in the world) but when I tried to go for the "spit shine" look on my Waldens, nearly the entire finish on the toe boxes wiped away, leaving a splotchy mess of dark burgundy polish spots over the lighter burgundy underneath. If AE wishes to create an "antique" look with these shoes, it needs to replicate the process it uses for the Independence Collection shoes or, perhaps, the new bourbon color it offers. Third, the fit is off. It is too narrow. If the leather was more supple, perhaps the shoe would stretch out. However, the binder leather of these shoes is very rigid, and has not stretched in the 1 year that I have owned the shoes. I do love AE, and I will continue to buy their products, but if they are going to claim that their shoes are made of fine imported materials, they should ensure this for every model they produce. I buy AE because they are a better made shoe than other "American" shoe companies Cole-Haan, Johnston and Murphy, and Florsheim. The AE Waldens, although made in America, are similar to the quality sold by those other three companies' penny loafers. For this reason, I would not purchase another pair of AE Waldens. The product is made very well. Great craftmanship. This shoe is very well made, and I was very happy with my purchase a few years ago. Unfortunately, I have to move up from a 15 to 16 shoe size, and this shoe is not available in a "B" width. I hope that your company will consider making this shoe in a "B" width in the future. Narrow Feet

I wear a size 8A and am interested in the Walden or the Park Avenue which are not available in 8A. Do they run narrow enough that I might be able to wear them? Are there any nice dress loafers that run narrow that I might consider them as well? Other recommendations for a person with an 8A who wants a nice dressy casual shoe?

My pair of Walden's aren't fitting me correctly. They are shorter than my other pair od Allen Edmonds shoes. Perhaps they were marked with the wrong size on the shoe? What is the correct length and width, at it's widest on a Walden 8.5E Thank you for any help.

The Walden is Handsewn style, constructed on our 114 Last which features a slightly shorter vamp with a more rounded toe. By selecting shoes manufactured on the same last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit.

Typically the same size and last can be ordered in all of our shoes. However, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape. The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

Typically, we can Recraft a pair of shoes about 3 or 4 times before the leather becomes too stretched out. If you are unsure if your shoes can be Recrafted a second time, call Allen Edmonds Recrafting Consumer Service or bring them to an Allen Edmonds Company-Owned Retail Store. A sales associate will be able to evaluate your shoes. Otherwise, send your shoes into the Recrafting department, and they will evaluate your shoes.

Size and Style

Hi I Just bought my first pair of Allen Edmonds Black Sagamore Size 5 triple EEE at a Speciality Short man's clothing store in Toronto yesterday. I Really like them. I Also am really interested in this Walden Penny Loafer. In fact I prefer penny loafers, black being my favorite but he didn't have any in my size so I took these because they fit. I looked at your videos online and really think this is the company for me. But when I look for shoes that fit me, like most retailers and websites, I can't find my size. It stinks being a size 5 triple E because nobody has them. Before I found this pair of shoes I had to go to the kids sections and buy the biggest pairs of Sperry's they had. But in the Book the Millionaire Mind it says "You don't wear cheap shoes, they wear on you". Ain't that the truth! My Back! That book recommended Allen Edmonds as a top shoe company and I had been looking for an Allen Edmonds that fit for about 10 years and had basically given up ever having one until yesterday when I found it at this Short Man's Specialty Store. I want to know if its possible to get this Walden Black Penny loafers to London Ontario where I live. I think they are so cool and classy. I'm a dual American and Canadian Citizen and support made in North America model, your company seems excellent. Thanks

My experience with the Walden is that it runs wider than most shoes. I normally take an E width in all my AE shoes, but these I wear a D. If you're in an area where you can try a pair on, I'd say try a pair of EEEs and see what you think.
