Holding off on my purchase. I've been looking for a loafer style like the Kenwood Penny Loafer for a while now and had decided to purchase two pair this Tuesday, April 29th. My wife has sat with me a lot of the time during my search. Made in the USA, quality shoes, and made in Wisc. I was impressed! These would be the last two pair of casual shoes I'd ever buy. At my age I'd never wear them out. I then read the reviews. Sorry Allen Edmonds, no purchase coming from here. You don't seem to be addressing the squeak in the sole. I'll move on now and continue my search. April 27, 2014
Squeak x2 Browsing AE online for new items, I came across the reviews for the Kenwood regarding this awful squeak. AE's have been my go-to for footwear the last 5 years. I now only wear AE (except for running shoes)- casual, boots for winter, dress, etc.. The Kenwoods are the most comfortable pair I own and the only pair I have replaced. I took my first pair back to the AE store in DC for 'the squeak' where they kindly replaced them with a brand new pair about 2 years ago. Now my 2nd pair of Kenwoods have developed the same squeak. Its a shame as really are very comfortable and look great. But I to am conscious about where I wear them due to 'the squeak.' April 26, 2014
Squeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaak Love the classic look of this shoe - can't go wrong with a beef-roll loafer - and the execution of this style is well done from a visual perspective. I will echo the other comments that this shoe has squeaked from almost the beginning. I actually came to these reviews to see if others were having the same issue only to confirm this appears to be a common complaint. It has gotten to the point where I am very careful as to when/where I wear these - the squeak is that loud. It's disappointing to say the least. I guess a full recrafting would perhaps address the issue, but who wants to pay for that AE service given the price point of these shoes when new? January 15, 2014
Had some fit issues but was resolved to my satisfaction! All my other AE's were 10D but when I ordered the Kenwood online, upon delivery I discovered that it was too long. Returned it and received a 9.5D. It was perfect!. Customer service was excellent and easy to deal with. Build quality is great! Too new to report on comfort but if they are like my others, I expect a good experience. I'll be ordering more. January 14, 2014

What is the difference between the "Gentry" leather used for the black and burgundy Kenwoods and the "Polished" leather used for the black and burgundy Waldens?

Because the Gentry leather and Polished leather are sourced from different tanneries, as a result, the tanning processes are different. The Gentry leather tends to have a bit more depth in color, but other than that these leathers are very similar.

Should I place a shoe tree in my Kenwoods? Not sure if the standard AE cedar shoe tree will maintain the toe and not deform it.

Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

Yes, we recommend using shoe trees for all of your Allen Edmonds shoe styles. The main purpose of our shoe trees is to deodorize and maintain the shape of your shoes; they should have a snug fit but you should not be concerned about our shoe trees stretching any pair of your shoes wider or longer as long as you have the correct shoe tree size. To find the appropriate shoe tree size for your shoes, simply click the ‘Size & Fit” tab on the details section of the shoe trees product page.

The Kenwood and the Walden are both Handsewn styles. The Kenwood is constructed on the 800 Last which has a semi-rounded toe and roomier instep while the Walden is constructed on the 114 Last which features a slightly shorter vamp with a more rounded toe. By selecting shoes manufactured on the same last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit.

Typically the same size can be ordered in all of our shoes. However, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape. The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

You can also learn more about all of our lasts by selecting “All About Lasts” under Shoes 101 at the bottom of the page, or by clicking the following link: http://www.allenedmonds.com/aeonlin...

I purchased a pair of Kenwood loafers from the Outlet Store. I love them, but I had to send the first pair back for exchange because of squeaking in both shoes. The replacement pair is half-better: only the right shoe squeaks now. It is only a problem on hard surfaces, especially hardwood and tile floors. The squeak isn't apparent on carpet.

The squeak appears to come from within the shoe; it's not an issue of friction with the floor. I've worn them 2-3 times per week for the past few months, hoping that the squeak would resolve itself. My questions: will the squeak eventually go away? Or is it structural? Is there something that I can do (conditioning oil?) to help lubricate the surfaces?

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

A squeaking-like noise is sometimes caused by the leather lining of our shoes rubbing against leather on the outside of the upper. This noise does not indicate a problem with the construction of the shoe; it is natural for two types of leathers which are layered upon one another to make noise. We recommend applying a talcum powder, which can help to reduce this.

I've waited forever hoping the Kenwood would be made in a B width.
What gives? Why isn't this made in a B width? I love the shoe and would really like to have a pair.

I wear a 10.5D in the unlined Neumok but the same size is too large in the unlined Kenwood loafer. The 10D fit much better. It would appear loafer sizing for me may be comparable to boat shoe sizing where a half size down is adequate.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The Park Avenue is one of our Goodyear Welted styles, which is manufactured on our 5-Last (65); this last is the longest in length of our lasts and fits best on a long, narrow foot. Meanwhile, the Kenwood is one of our Handsewn styles, constructed on our 800 Last. This is a classic Handsewn last which features a semi-rounded toe, roomier instep and a longer forepart. By selecting shoes manufactured on the same last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit.

Typically the same size and last can be ordered in all of our shoes. However, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape. The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores.
