A faithful interpretation of this timeless design, the Patriot honors our legacy of craftsmanship and classic American style like no other shoe on the market. Of course, there is always a little room for improvement, which is why we designed a brand new last - the 606 - especially for these shoes. As if that's not enough, the Patriot is also featured in Genuine Horween? Shell Cordovan leather with an exclusive black, burgundy, and brown finish burnished to rich perfection. Beautiful leather, staining and craftsmanship It really isn't fair for me to give these shoes an overall ranking because I have very wide feet and others may not have the same problem with fit that I have had. On the right shoe, the area of the Weejun strap is too tight on the inside. I've had the shoe stretched, and it is still a little too tight, although wearable and otherwise comfortable. The left shoe is fine. I have a number of AE laceups and one pair of AE loafers and have not had this problem. May 27, 2015
A hole in the bottom after 9 months? Having only purchased my first pairs last year, I'm new to AE. I bought these and two pairs of cap toe oxfords. The oxfords have worn well, but the loafers have worn through on the bottom of my right foot. They were probably worn 1-2x per week and purchased last May... so I figure no more than 50-60 times worn. I expected to not have a hole in my shoe after such low usage. March 24, 2015
Interesting fit.... Finally got to try this one - maybe I should call this the "last stop". Want to preface this by saying that many, if not most of the loafers by AE cause issues for me. I have an arch/instep issue in general so I have been looking for the best fit to accommodate this, and with loafers it is tough. I can't wear anything on the 79, most recently tried the Randolph & Cody - everything on this last is too long, bad toebox, heel too wide. The Nashua on the 114 isn't bad, but the top of my feet are aching by the end of the day. Others on the 114 won't work - the hard leather/band is too much on things like the Maxfield. The Italian collection loafers #those that I can actually fit without being super long, such as the Lucca or Verona# are pretty good, I still ache after a day's wear but not too bad. Tried the Presidio on the 222, great fit but the arch issue was moderate. I have sort of "gravitated" towards the 97, because the fit of the Grayson #and its older brothers like the Manchester & Jermyn# leave my arch alone, but they are far from perfect - the heel is humongously wide and the toebox is cramped. I tried the Dornoch & McGraw on the 234, thinking this would correct the toebox, but these are just huge everywhere, toebox, heel, everything. The 145-last driving mocs are ok, but I just sort of wear them to knock-around, nothing too serious. Did not get to try the Rye on the 2592 so can't comment on that. Did try the Ventura Highway at one point and the fit wasn't bad, but there was significant bowing in the sides and I couldn't have gone down in length any shorter. So, that brings me to the Patriot. The Patriot was like the magic loafer fit. Toebox was good, not super huge. Heel was normal, not super wide like the Grayson. Spot on. Just wish it wasn't so bland looking - come on, why not more styles on the 606? Word of warning on this - I view this as the loafer to try if nothing else works for you. I'm sure most people would complain about a narrow heel or bad fit on the instep, but if you are out of options, this is definitely for you. March 14, 2015
Superb Shoe I own 10 pair of AE's and was trying to find a comfortable loafer. I cam across the Patriot in burgundy and tried them on and bought them. I have to say next to my Park Avenue's, this is the most comfortable shoe I own. The fit and feel are tremendous and I have to stop myself from wearing them everyday. Great shoe! March 12, 2015

This is the first pair of AE I will be polishing myself and want to get a good color match. The shoe description is "brown burnished calf" and the polish colors I think might match are "Dark Brown", "Bourbon", or "Walnut". Which is the best fit?

Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry. We recommend using the Dark Brown Premium Shoe Polish for your Patriot Penny Loafers in Brown Burnished Calf. Prior to polishing, we do recommend using our Conditioner Cleaner to prepare the leather for polishing. Apply it with a soft cotton cloth in small amounts at a time and in circular motions, then apply the polish and buff or brush to a desired shine.

The Patriot Cordovan loafer refers to the leather type, it is made from our Genuine Shell Cordovan, while the Patriot Penny Loafer is made from our traditional Calfskin. They are the same model, made with different materials. Shell Cordovan is the finest type of leather available for shoemaking and is renowned for it's natural patina, durability, and water repellency.

Answer:
The Patriot is constructed on the 606 last which has a broad, flat toe providing a roomier forepart. The instep transition and cone rise is farther back than a typical Allen Edmonds last. The Presidio was constructed on the 222 last which has an elongated toe with a slightly higher instep and a more narrow fit in the forefoot creating a sleek silhouette and rounded European look. The Cole was constructed on the discontinued 456 last which had a very wide rounded toe. By selecting shoes manufactured on the last that most resembles the contours of your feet, you will achieve a superior fit, only enhancing the comfort of your shoes.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The Patriot style was not designed with an orthotic fit in mind and so it does not feature a removable insole. The styles that feature removable insoles are those that are part of the Orthotic Collection and Jack Nicklaus Collection; as well as the Voyager style.

Keep in mind, however, that if the shoe is fit large enough, these inserts can be used in almost any of our shoes.

The Firenze style is a member of our Italian Collection, which has been known to have a slightly more snug fit. The Patriot style is manufactured on our 6-Last (606) which has a broad flat toe that provides a roomier forepart, however the cone rises back farther back than a typical AE last and may not be the best fit for a higher instep. By selecting shoes manufactured on the last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit, only enhancing the comfort of the shoes.

8 EEE is my normal AE size. Some styles still are too tight over the arch to be comfortable.

Second question - Do you ever have factory seconds in the cordovan shoes?

By selecting shoes manufactured on the last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit, only enhancing the comfort of the shoes.

We suggest trying styles made on our 3-Last (73) which is the fullest in girth measurement with a tapered toe and more room over the instep. Check out the styles constructed on the 3 Last by clicking the following link: http://www.allenedmonds.com/aeonlin...

Keep in mind, the best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.
