Urbino Italian Loafers - Italian Made Moc-toe Venetian Tasseled Slip-on Loafer Men's Dress Shoes by Allen Edmonds

Though his work dates back to the 15th century, Renaissance painter and architect Raphael, whose birthplace you can visit in the hill town of Urbino, is still known for making some of the most graceful compositions known to man. We like to think that we bring that same sense of timeless elegance to our Italian loafers, particularly these slip-ons named for the artist's hometown. The sophisticated appeal of this handsewn moccasin, which comes in part from its raised stitching, makes it an excellent choice for gentlemen looking for comfortable footwear that goes with slacks or dress khakis. Pairing the clean leather upper with a thin rounded edge leather sole creates a fresh canvas that impeccably frames the shoe's artistic knotted tassel, giving the Urbino a refined appearance that will stand the test of time.

The Urbino is extremely comfotable but has one main problem. I have purchased several pair (6) of the Urbino, including the 2 pair I have now. All have given me the problem that the front of the shoes rolls over the sole and scuffs badly to the point a hole actually develops There is a very good picture already on this website that clearly shows this. I would like a call from Allen Edmond to see if this problem can be rectified or restored at a reasonable price. The shoe is good looking and extremely comfortable - that's the reason I have purchased so many pair , but I may stop buying if the problem is not rectified by refurbishing at a reasonable price. One cobbler in Doylestown, PA put metal taps on the very front of the sole and this stopped further deterioration, although the loafer had already become badly scuffed. This is a major problem with the Urbino. Some one should call me at 843-250-9193 to discuss this if Allen Edmonds wants to keep me as a customer. March 16, 2013
Classic Italian Style Soft, supple, classic high-end Italian styling. Look and feel you best in a pair of AE Urbinos! February 14, 2013
Great Shoe Bad Color Choices This has been my favorite casual shoe for years! The tan color was a great style for casual dress (Levis). Then you discontinued the tan - I bought all of them I could find. Eventually had to settle for the brown. Not such a great color for casual. Now you have discontinued the brown. I will have to find someone elses shoe suitable for casual wear, fit, style and color. Not a happy camper. February 14, 2013
Great shoe This is a very high quality shoe. The comfort is excellent. They hold up to lots of wear and continue to look good. I like them so much I ordered a second pair. I have black and brown. February 14, 2013

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The Urbino is a member of our Italian Collection, which is handcrafted using Bologna construction. Though the Italian Bologna Construction is similar to our Handsewn styles, by selecting shoes manufactured on the same last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit.

Typically the same size and last can be ordered in all of our shoes. However, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape. The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

Re-soled

Is this shoe in any way re-soleable? I know that is it not re-craftable but is there any chance since the soles are so thin that it can be replaced?

What would you recommend doing after the soles have worn through?

Thank you for your inquiry.

The Urbino is recraftable footwear.

Feel free to contact our recrafting team at 1-877-495-5564 with the name of the specific shoe you have and they will be able to confirm whether or not they can be recrafted before you send them back to us. In the event that we receive a pair of shoes that is non-recraftable, you will be contacted by phone or email and will not be charged for the service.

Feel free to contact us with any further questions.

Answer:
Apparently the Urbino has not been offered in brown since Fall 2010. Both the Spring 2011 and Fall 2011 catalogs show the Urbino available in black only.

You might contact the Allen Edmonds Shoe Bank and see if they have any brown Urbinos from previous seasons.
