Jermyn - Cap-toe Slip-on Loafer Men's Dress Shoes by Allen Edmonds

Our design team has been trying to create a dressier version of the Grayson, Allen Edmonds' most popular business loafer, for a long while. It took some time, but once our Head of Patterns created this dynamic new cap-toe, we knew we were on the right track. With the addition of the elegant medallion and front-and-back perfing it was apparent to everyone that we had something special that we would put up against anything sold on London's famed Jermyn Street. The classic double tassels and side lacing remain, making the Jermyn dressy enough for the boardroom and versatile enough for the frequent-flying business traveler. This classic shoe comes in either black, walnut burnished or brown burnished calf to give you a refined look wherever you are.

THINNER SOX Shoes are great and very Handsome. The only recomendatin is to wear them with thinner sox and both you and your feet will be happy campers. These shoes are so true to sizes that there is no wiggle room and one can easily mistake it with disconfort. April 15, 2013
Beautiful shoe ruined by the fit Every shoe I have ever owned has been a size 8 (D or medium), including 3 current pair by Allen Edmonds. So I was confident and ordered an 8D in the Jermyn (Walnut) from AE online. When the shoes arrived I tried them on in the early evening. The fit was as I would expect except for one shoe had significant heel slip. Trying them on with thicker socks did not help. Neither did trying them on the next day. I contacted the helpful customer service staff with the intent to return the shoes. They suggested they would send me another pair. They also suggested that a D width would be consistent regardless of the length so I ordered a 7-1/2D since width had not been an issue at all in the 8's. Upon receiving the 7-1/2D the fit was snug, much tighter than the 8's, The overall length of the shoe was not materially different but the width felt much narrower. I put a pair of shoe trees in the shoes in hopes of stretching them a little. I left the shoe trees in for a week and then wore the shoes to work. I have now worn the shoes 4 times with shoe trees always left in them. The shoes have not loosened up at all. On the 4th wearing I received a compliment on the shoe - they do look good. However, at the time of the compliment I had been wondering how Chinese women used to suffer through foot binding. These shoes run narrow. In the mid-afternoon my feet hurt so much from the pressure on the outsides that I had to take them off. Though with a struggle, I was able to get the shoes back on prior to having to leave work in my stocking feet. The sizing of the shoe is unlike any I have ever tried on. The shoes will now find their way to the local city mission. I hope someone there can get comfortable use from them. I wouldn't order these shoes online. March 20, 2013
A beautiful shoe ruined by the fit I have never purchased a pair of dress shoes online before, but the loss of a relatively close AE store and a lack of Jermyn shoes in my size range within 3 hours drive led me to purchase a pair of Walnut Burnished Jermyn shoes online. First, the shoes are beautiful and the exact addition I was looking for in my wardrobe. Since every pair of shoes I own - tennis, running, drivers, chukka, boots, tuxedo and 3 pair of AE shoes are a size 8 I felt confident in ordering an 8D. The Jermyn size 8D arrived and upon trying them on I found them to be looser than normal, with significant heel slip from the left shoe. I tried them on again in the morning to the same result. I talked to the helpful customer service member and arranged to return the shoes. I ordered the Jermyn in a 7-1/2D as I was told the width would be consistent regardless of length. Upon receiving the 7-1/2D replacement I found them to be tight, very tight everywhere in fact. I put shoe trees in the shoes and let them sit for a week before wearing them. I wore the shoe for an entire day at work and they remained tight. I have worn the shoes 3 more times. Each time putting shoe trees in them and letting them sit for a week before I wear them again. I let them sit for a week not in hopes that they will stretch, but for fear my feet might deform if worn more regularly. [The binding of women's feet in China comes to my mind.] I made a mistake today at work. Sitting in my office around 3PM I took the shoes off as I could no longer stand the pressure on the outside of my feet. I almost didn't get them back on. I have as of today given up hope of ever being able to wear these shoes with any degree of comfort. On my next trip to NYC I will stop at Crockett & Jones and try on a pair of Langham 2 dress shoes in tan calf. March 13, 2013
This shoe has a great look. I purchased the black and brown. The bead that runs around the top of the black pair has stretched out of shape creating a poor fit. I love the shoes look but that would prevent me from buying another pair of this style. March 10, 2013

Answer:
I just purchased the Jermyn - I purchased the the same size as most of my other AE shoes of various lasts. The only AE shoes I have in a different size are the McTavish and Black Hills - both in 9D.

I just wanted to share my experience with the Jermyn sizing.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

Our 7-Last (97) is the best fit for the average foot, known for running fairly true to size, but also laying a little flatter in the toe area. By selecting shoes manufactured on the same last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit.

Typically the same size and last can be ordered in all of our shoes. However, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape. The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

The Jermyn style is offered on our size chart #3, which is not available in a size 12.5. Because it is also not a member of our special makeup program, the Jermyn is limited to sizes and widths currently available online.

Are you considering a Jermyn-type monk strap or wing tip monk strap preferbly with a rubber sole?

I unsucessfully looked for years for Allen Edmonds quality. The ones I found and wore out were ok, ungreat. The current ones on the market are sooooo expensive and non-Allen Edmonds quality.

please help make me an even more satisfied customer!
