Our play on the original design, which was intended to present a business-style toe while keeping the rest of the foot cool, combines a modern, transparent mesh vamp with a stylized perforated wing-tip toe. I saw these in the Allen edmonds outlet and had to have them. These are one of the best fitting, most comfortable pairs of A-E shoes I own. They almost feel like I'm wearing sandals. If there is a breeze blowing while walking outdoors, I can literally feel it through the mesh vamp. In fact, I like them so much I had to order another pair in brown/navy.
A perfect choice for hot summers in the south.

Ever since I first saw the Brown Calf and Navy Mesh I was sold. I brought a pair on the spot. They are the perfect summer shoe. Everywhere I go, I get complements. A few months later I purchased the Brown Calf and linen. Again just beautiful shoes! They go perfect with my linen suits when vacationing in the Caribbean. But my favorites are the Brown and Navy. I found both pair to be just a half size larger (I usually wear a 10D, but the 9.5D fit perfect). As usual the AE quality is there, and I love the leather sole with the stitching – I just will not wear a shoe of this caliber with a rubber sole.
I would recommend AE offer the Strawfut in custom colors (for a fee). For example I would like a lighter shade of brown (like cognac) with a darker brown mesh.

A very nice shoe. I have to take it slow when I shine them (I spit shine the dark brown leather portion). It's a shoe I reserve for summer wear. However, with the right outfit they would look nice in the winter as well.

I have a closet full of AE shoes. My wife tells me I am the male Imelda Marcos of AE shoes! The Strawfut is a great addition. I have two pair: in Brown/brown and brown/linen. If AE makes an oak/linen, I will buy it.
It, like all AE shoes, is comfortable out of the box. And if you get the spectator, you should expect a ton of compliments! Come on AE, give us an oak/linen option!

How To Measure Your Feet For The Best Fit

With more and more customers preferring the convenience of online shopping, we've developed easy-to-use tools to help ensure you take accurate measurements and get the proper fit with your shoes. To get a truly professional fitting, we recommend visiting an Allen Edmonds Master Fitter at any one of our retail stores. However, if an Allen Edmonds store is not located near you, this Shoe Fit Guide is designed to help ensure your Allen Edmonds shoes are the best possible fit.

Helpful Tools

Tip #1: Measure At A Time That Fits
Feet tend to swell in different circumstances and at different times of the day. We suggest you measure your feet during the midday or late afternoon after you have been on your feet for some time.

Tip #2: Wear Socks When Measuring
Wear the type of socks that you'll likely be wearing with your new shoes, as the thickness of the socks may affect your measurements.

Tip #3: Stand Straight and Balanced
When you do the measuring, be sure both feet are on the ground and you're balanced and straight to get the proper foot placement.

Tip #4: Get Someone To Help You
You need to have a friend help you take the measurements because if you were to try to take your measurements yourself, when bending down to mark your length and width, your sizing would be affected. Make sure your friend takes your measurements looking straight down at the Shoe Fit Guide. Even viewing it at a slight angle may affect the outcome.

Tip #5: Give Yourself A Bit of Room
If your measurement is on a length line, we recommend you go to the next half-size longer in order to give your toes a bit of room.

Tip #6: One Foot Larger Is Common
Almost everyone has one foot larger than the other. The key is to determine your size from the measurement of the larger of your two feet. And obviously, be sure to measure both feet.
