3 San Marco - Men's Plain-toe Casual Shoes by Allen Edmonds Piazza San Marco (or St Mark's Square in English) is located in the heart of Venice and is home to a magnificent cathedral, the Duge's Palace, famous cafes and legendary boutiques. It takes a boatload of versatility to fit into such an array of destinations, but this is one shoe that can handle them all. For instance, this five eyelet plain toe blucher is proper enough to be appropriate for visiting a Duomo but the pebbled grain calf provides just the right note of flair you'll want if you decide to have a drink at Harry's Bar. With no cars in the city, you'll be doing a great deal of walking to make sure you see everything the square has to offer, so we outfitted this shoe with a Toby mini-lug rubber sole, which will give you added traction and cushion without sacrificing style. A well built casual oxford but it does not feel like a true D width in my regular size 11. I will keep them for casual office wear and rainy weather dress days. I wear thinner socks for comfort. Its disappointing that your shoe size has a different fit for various models of AE shoes.

The San Marco's are a very finely crafted, extremely comfortable and supportive shoe. They fit a bit like good cowboy boots - a little narrow across the instep and somewhat long in the toe, which is a good thing because it provides great support and plenty of room for the toes without looking blocky or odd. The leather looks like fine quality chocolate - gorgeous. However, in spite of their good looks they are also a fairly rugged shoe, and based on the quality of construction, I feel certain they will last for many years to come.

My first couple of AEs were comfortable from the beginning. Requiring little break in time I was able to wear and go. One complaint I had initially with AE was that the shoes seemed to widen over time which I prefer a snugger fit. I first saw the San Marco on one of my fellow workers and I really liked the look. When I finally pulled the trigger I was fortunate enough that the shoes were on sale, reduced by $100. I put these on and they fit very well from the start. Unlike my others these have retained their supportive fit and I prefer them to my other shoes. I toss with getting a more formal pair versus another San Marco in a different color, decisions.

The San Marco style is manufactured right here in the USA at our Port Washington, Wisconsin factory. All of our shoes using the 360-degree Goodyear welted process are manufactured in the United States of America.

How To Measure Your Feet For The Best Fit

With more and more customers preferring the convenience of online shopping, we've developed easy-to-use tools to help ensure you take accurate measurements and get the proper fit with your shoes. To get a truly professional fitting, we recommend visiting an Allen Edmonds Master Fitter at any one of our retail stores. However, if an Allen Edmonds store is not located near you, this Shoe Fit Guide is designed to help ensure your Allen Edmonds shoes are the best possible fit.

Helpful Tools

Tip #1: Measure At A Time That Fits
Feet tend to swell in different circumstances and at different times of the day. We suggest you measure your feet during the midday or late afternoon after you have been on your feet for some time.

Tip #2: Wear Socks When Measuring
Wear the type of socks that you'll likely be wearing with your new shoes, as the thickness of the socks may affect your measurements.

Tip #3: Stand Straight and Balanced
When you do the measuring, be sure both feet are on the ground and you're balanced and straight to get the proper foot placement.

Tip #4: Get Someone To Help You
You need to have a friend help you take the measurements because if you were to try to take your measurements yourself, when bending down to mark your length and width, your sizing would be affected. Make sure your friend takes your measurements looking straight down at the Shoe Fit Guide. Even viewing it at a slight angle may affect the outcome.

Tip #5: Give Yourself A Bit of Room
If your measurement is on a length line, we recommend you go to the next half-size longer in order to give your toes a bit of room.

Tip #6: One Foot Larger Is Common
Almost everyone has one foot larger than the other. The key is to determine your size from the measurement of the larger of your two feet. And obviously, be sure to measure both feet.
