Use Instructions

Prior to polishing, wipe the upper calfskin leather with a damp cloth to remove any trace of surface dirt; allow shoes to air dry at room temperature. Apply Conditioner Cleaner to cloth and wipe shoes. This rich, leather-softening emollient nourishes as it deep cleans. To neutralize salt stains, rub directly onto stain; allow to dry. To polish and protect your fine footwear, apply Allen Edmonds Shoe Cream, Premium Shoe Polish, or Carnauba Shoe Crem and buff to the desired shine.

Excellent Product I am certain this product is adding years to the life of my shoes. I have been using this cleaner and conditioner for over a year. My shoes show no signs of drying or cracking. February 14, 2012
Conditioner cleaner I used this on a pair of Dalton's which had the toe scuffed today and as expected it changed the color on the tow to a very rich look. I use the Chili shoe polish on these and it allowed the boot to be a beautiful multicolor with caps slightly dark while the remaining boot the original color. I have 16 pair of Allen Edmonds shoes most are MacNeil with two cordovan leather for dress and the rest are calf skin shoes and boots. On the black, grey, and brown, and chili colors of calf skin the product is great. I also used it on a black leather jacket which made it soft and new again. Stephen in Haslet. Texas. March 22, 2014
Excellent product. I used to apply saddle soap to clean and nourish leather. For fine shoes, AE's Conditioner Cleaner is the best I've experienced for cleaning and nourishing leather. I've noticed that, on shoes with old salt stains, it seems to repair at least some of the damage. March 20, 2014
Be Careful! Changes the color on some AE shoes! I used this on my pair of Aberdeen Grey and Neumok Blue shoes and both were darkened significantly. The Aberdeens are now a very dark grey and the Neumoks no longer look blue at all, just a faded blackish. I no longer wear either of them. Luckily I have about a dozen other AE pairs that I do still wear. E-mailed AE and the response was: "Unfortunately there is not really a way to change back the color of these shoes. Each time you treat a pair of shoes, the color can change. My best suggestion would be to only use the saddle soap on these shoes to try and clean off the surface of the shoes to lighten them back up. We do recommend to use the leather lotion and saddle soap for these shoes. The conditioner cleaner is more for the our calf skin leathers and not these distressed leathers. " November 15, 2013

Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

Allen Edmonds Conditioner Cleaner may darken the leather temporarily while damp, but this product is toneless in color and when used properly it will not change or darken the color of the leather. Keep in mind, however, that leather may naturally darken or lighten over time according to wear.

Prior to polishing, wipe the upper calfskin leather with a damp cloth to remove any trace of surface dirt; allow shoes to air dry at room temperature. Then apply a small amount of Conditioner Cleaner to a cloth and wipe shoes; allow them to dry before applying Premium Shoe Polish.

Broad question - a couple of months ago I got salty/snowy water around the sole and up to the sides of brand new black PARK AVENUES. There seems to be a slight "waterline" that is visible where the shoe was exposed to the salty water.

Since the shoe has been polished a couple of times since then thinking that would removed the "line" but didn't, is there a recommended course of action? Remove polish? If so with what? Condition clean, then polish again?

Insight appreciated.

Salt stains may cause permanent damage to leather, so it is important to wipe salt from the leather before it has a chance to dry. We suggest sending the shoes to our Recrafting department so they can evaluate the stains and determine if a professional cleaning or a refinishing service would be beneficial. You can contact our Recrafting department at recrafting@allenedmonds.com or 1-877-495-5564 (Mon-Fri 7:00AM-6PM CST).

To provide an added layer of protection against dirt, water, and salt damage, we offer waterproof premium Swims Overshoes which allow you to wear your favorite shoes regardless of weather conditions.

The Conditioner Cleaner removes common surface area dirt and dust prior to polishing, neutralizes salt stains, and protects the natural beauty of the leather; we recommend using this product on calfskin and other fine leathers. The Saddle Soap cleans while restoring the leather's natural oils; we recommend using it for styles that are made with rougher or distressed leathers such as the styles in our Rough Collection.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

Apply our Allen Edmonds Conditioner Cleaner regularly to remove surface area residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Shoe Cream or Polish as needed or desired for shine with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry. Remove excess polish by brushing with a horsehair shine brush and buff to a desired shine.
