Long Branch - Wingtip Lace-up Oxford Men's Dress Boots by Allen Edmonds

Our popular Dalton is the seed from which the Long Branch grew and if you look closely you can tell it didn't fall far from the tree. The Long Branch shares the round toe of the 511-last and similar brogueing and wing tip blucher styling of its forefather. But where the Dalton is designed to be more elegant, one look at the Long Branch's bigger perfs, split-reverse welt and Vibram rubber lug sole tells you it is crafted to be hardier footwear. A true boot in every sense of the word, we've even given the Long Branch four exposed eyelets to go with three speed hooks as an ode to its work boot brethren. Recraftable and sold with two pairs of laces to suit your mood, we are sure you will grow to love the Long Branch as much as we have.

Long Branch Wingtip Boots 4.7 5 52 52
A little stiff at first, a wonderful boot once broken in I bought a couple pairs of boots at the end of the winter season; Cascade in black and Long Branch in waxy brown. Both boots are typically wonderful AE design, quality and comfort. The Long Branch was a little stiff at first, by design, but it has come around nicely after a dozen or so days of kicking around town with them on weekends. I look forward to many years of satisfying and stylish wear from this great product. (The Cascade did not require any break in; it was comfortable the first day I put it on and feels like an old pair of high top sneakers when I wear them, but much better looking!). May 29, 2013
Comfort - YES; QUALITY - NO I loved the design of the Long Branch enough to visit the DC store and purchase on sight. Unfortunately, within 24 hours I noticed the stitching in the heel was broken and the heel leather separating. See the attached image #1 I returned the boots to the DC store and bought another pair from Zappos. While the pair from Zappos did not have loose heel stitching, within one month the pull tab on the boot experienced loose stitching and came completely open. See the attached image #2 Having the pair of boots for just one month, I traveled back to the DC store and had the boots sent to factory for refinishing. Now get this... when I received the boot from factory, the factory only "recrafted" one side of the pull tab. Whoever performed the repair didn't bother to restitch both sides. See the attached images #3 (outside view) and #4 (inside view, illustrating that the other side of the pull tab was never attempted to be stitched) Overall, comfortable shoe. But quality, very lacking. It is one thing to have low Q/A. But when I send the boot back with explicit problems and the factory still misses the issue... I will think twice before buying another MODERN pair of AEs with the expectation of prolonged life. May 9, 2013
lacking in quality As an AE fan and previous customer, I was excited about these boots for the winter in Wisconsin. I bought them in Smokey Grey. These boots do not live up to AE quality. Brand new they had lining poking out from under the leather and inconsistent finish. After wearing them they developed rust colored stains on the leather on top in the area near the first eyelet. Pros: Comfort was great....even right out of the box. The soles wear like iron. However, I do not feel that these boots live up to AE quality standards. I purchased them (and live) a few miles from the Port Washington factory and asked if they could be sent back to be detailed. I was told that AE doesn't do that. For these reasons, I would not recommend them. I am still undecided as to whether I'd consider buying AE again. April 27, 2013
Fabulous boot Received this boot this week and everything about the boot exceeds my expectations. I wanted the Waxy Brown, but the store only had the dark. I liked the boot in the store, and then ordered online my color choice. The waxy brown is a perfect shade. The boot really looks magnificent. Quality is superb. The leather is rich and supple. The comfort of the shoe is amazing, and iI expect that to improve as the boot wears in. I looked at many choices for a wingtip boot, and oh so glad I made the right choice. Thank you AE. Answer:
If you want the boot to last longer and keep its shape better, yes. Wooden shoe trees remove excess moisture and moist leather ages quicker. Without shoe trees, the toe will curl upward and wrinkling will be more pronounced.

Not necessary. Laces loosen up enough to smoothly slide your foot into the boot.

Answer:
You should use shoe trees with all your shoes you want to keep in top shape. You don't necessarily need a pair for each shoe you own, but can rotate the shoes trees.

Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

Yes, we recommend using shoe trees for all of your Allen Edmonds shoe styles. For a size 10D shoe, we suggest using a Men’s Medium shoe tree.

We offer two types of shoe trees to help care for your Allen Edmonds. For a size 10 D, we suggest using a Men’s Medium shoe tree. Both the Full-toe and Combination Cedar Shoe Trees will fit your 10 D or any other shoe style; however, the Combination Shoe Tree features an overhang heel and an expandable split-toe making this a highly functional shoe tree. The main purpose of shoe trees is to deodorize and maintain the shape of your shoes; either option will work well.

More lace colors for Long Branch?

Customer avatar

Sierra Vista, AZ
I recently received my pair of Smokey Grey Long Branch boots and can tell that many different colors of boot laces will match well. I see that AE sells Benjo boot laces, but they appear to be flat and not round like the original laces included with the Long Branch. Does AE offer any more lace colors in the same style as the original laces? The boots are amazing by the way!

All of my AE shoes are the same size. 9.5 D. I've never had to deviate from my size with any pair of my AE shoes including the Long Branch -- 9.5 D -- fit perfectly. I've heard some people have had to go up or down a size for different product models, but that has not been my case at all.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The Long Branch is constructed on our 1-Last (511), which is similar to the 7-Last from heel to ball in that it is the best fit for the average fit, but has a more rounded, fuller fitting toe. Meanwhile, the McTavish style is constructed on our 5-Last (65) which is the longest in length of our lasts, and best for a long, narrow foot. By selecting shoes manufactured on the same last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit.

Typically the same size and last can be ordered in all of our shoes. However, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape. The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The Long Branch is considered an above-the-ankle boot style which features our Vibram lug rubber sole. Shoe and heel height will vary depending on the size and width of a shoe; however, these variations will be fairly insignificant.

For the Long Branch in a size 9 D, the shoe height from the bottom of the sole to the top of the upper will measure to be around 7-1/4 inches tall. The heel height for the Vibram lug sole will measure to be between 1” and 1-1/8” tall.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

At Allen Edmonds, we manufacture shoes with two types of insoles, our traditional leather foot bed and our Handsewn styles. For our traditional leather foot bed, like that used for the Long Branch style, we apply a layer of shock-absorbent cork between the insole and the outsole of our shoes which allows the sole to form an imprint in the cork over time, which acts as a comfortable cradle for your whole foot. The resulting imprint is totally unique to your foot shape and is part of the reason our shoes are so comfortable. Our Handsewn styles feature a sock liner in the foot bed of the shoe.

Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The Long Branch boot features a waterproof Vibram rubber outsole, but the upper is made of natural leather and so is not waterproof.

To protect your investments and provide an added layer of protection against dirt and water, we offer waterproof premium Swims Mobster Boot which allows you to wear your favorite shoes regardless of weather conditions.

Smokey grey if you can find that colour......or you could go with black, or a dark brown as the smkey grey has what I would call an espresso wash or patina. While grey, it almost feels like there's some brown coming through.
