    Allen Edmonds Recrafting
  • Proudly made in the USA at our Port Washington, Wisconsin factory

First introduced in 1956 and brought back by popular demand in 2009, this model is our ode to a style that dates back hundreds of years. You see, originally, the wingtip gained popularity in Scotland because its secondary trim provided extra protection from the Highland's rocky crags and its perforations allowed water to drain from shoe as a highlander traversed boggy landscapes. Over the years, this dress brogue has remained a must-have model because its traditional 5-Last fit, sturdy leather sole and the strength conveyed by the short wings instill a sense of confidence to anyone who wears them. Of course, it doesn't hurt that the perfing on the wing, throat and backstay along with the pinking and intricate toe medallion also make these shoes as refined as they are enduring. And just as it has evolved from its humble beginnings into the quintessential business shoe, the McAllister is perfect for the man who is making his way in the world, but hasn't forgot where he came from.

Great looking shoe, make sure you try it on for size before purchase. Make sure you try these on before purchase as I believe they run a little narrow. After receiving a pair of Park Avenues (6 & 1/2 D) for my 10 year anniversary from my wife, I bought the Chili McAllister on the anniversary sale. I absolutely love the Park Avenues, they are so comfortable and have held up amazing over the last year. The McCallister looks amazing, the color is beautiful but I think I should have bought these in a 6 & 1/2 E as even after break in they feel tight. No hot spots or blisters experienced, just a little tight, not nearly as comfortable as the Park Avenues. Also, for whatever reason they have not been as durable (the sole) as the Park Avenues. I would strongly recommend trying them on for size in a store before purchase. June 7, 2014
Perfect fit looks beautiful This shoe fits the way it is supposed from day one as long as you know your size. I have always had breaking in issues with shoes but these felt like I had owned them for a year from the first day. I WILL be buying more shoes from A&E as they are worth the price. replaced a pair of nike made cole haans that fell apart in 1 month flat. I own 2 pairs of A&E shoes and cant wait till the Strands go on sale. May 30, 2014
Noisy, Squeaky Own a great pair of black and just recently purchased a pair of bourbon. Tried them on at home and noticed an annoying squeaky sound. Others have recently mentioned similar issue. Hope it was just a 'bad batch' as I returned for an Exchange. Hoping the 2nd pair isn't squeaky because the bourbon #w/ comb tap sole# sure does look sweet. May 30, 2014
Noisy Shoes I own around 10 pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes, and love each pair until these because they squeak. Really squeak all the time, kind of like a pair of cheap vinyl patent leather rentals I wore to my high school prom. Needless to say I'm disappointed, I don't know if it's the brogue detail and layers of leather that are rubbing together or what. The look great and are everything I expected except for quiet. Very frustrating from a high end shoe. May 28, 2014

My Mcallisters arrived with the thick round cotton like shoe laces. I noticed that my Strands and Fifth Ave. came with thin round almost wax coated shoes laces. So, which shoe laces am I suppose to have with the Mcallisters. I much prefer the thin round wax coated shoe laces.

Although they look similar in pictures, what is the difference between Broadstreet and MCAllister shoe style? Is the name different because they are built on a different last?

Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

While both the McAllister and the Broadstreet are designed using the same wingtip pattern; they possess their own unique fit. The McAllister is a member of our Timeless Classics collection and it’s manufactured on the 5-Last (65) which is the longest in length of our lasts and fits best on a long, narrow foot. The Broadstreet, on the other hand, is an spectator style, meaning it is offered in two-tone leathers; it is constructed on the 3-Last (73) which is wider across the ball of the foot with more room over the instep. Other than that, both styles feature a Single Oak Leather sole and a leather lined upper. They are also manufactured using the 360-degree Goodyear welted process, so they are both eligible for Recrafting.

It is correct that the 7-Last (97) is best fit for the average shaped foot; however the 5-Last (65), which is best for a long and narrow foot, is the best fitting last for the majority of our customers. For this reason our best-selling styles are made on the 5-Last (65).

Can these be ordered with the rubber soul and blue lining used in your University Wingtips? I like the toe design on this shoe much better, but LOVE the blue lining.

How will these work with the McAllister wing tips and do you need to make any concessions/ adjustments during sizing? I currently wear Johnson and Murphy dress shoes and need to remove the leather insole for a comfortable fit. I would like to keep the insole in place with these shoes. I want to fit and order online, what do you recommend?

The McTavish was not designed with an orthotic fit or removable insole in mind. We currently only manufacture a select number of styles with a removable foot bed. You can find the complete Allen Edmonds Orthotic Collection of shoes by clicking here: http://www.allenedmonds.com/aeonlin...

However, if the shoe is fit large enough, orthotic inserts can be used in almost any of our shoes. Depending on your foot shape and preferred fit, typically we recommend ordering a size up. The best way to get a proper fit with your orthotic inserts is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

If you are a first-time Allen Edmonds customer, it is vitally important that you are fit professionally at an Allen Edmonds Retail Store or Authorized Dealer who is familiar with the sizing and fit of Allen Edmonds shoes. By doing so, you will greatly increase the chances of being fit correctly the first time.

If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

I got them resoled in France, and the cobbler was very impressed with the construction. He said that in Europe it was difficult to find the same level of quality unless it was handcrafted for the wearer.

The majority of Allen Edmonds shoes are made to order, meaning they are manufactured after the order for a specific size and width has been placed. The message ‘Order now. Handcrafted in X weeks” reflects the estimated manufacturing time until it's completed and shipped.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The McAllister is constructed on our 5-Last (65), which is the longest in length of our lasts and is the best fit for a long, narrow foot. By selecting shoes manufactured on the same last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit.

Typically the same size and last can be ordered in all of our shoes. However, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape. The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. We suggest ordering the size recommended by our master fitters. Keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

In other dress shoes I wear a 9 or 9.5 E, I just received a pair of these and it was recommended that I order an 8 EEE and they fit. Not the most comfortable shoe I have purchased and not the best Quality Control but the size does fit.
