  • This shoe is eligible for our full Recrafting service (learn about Allen Edmonds legendary shoe Recrafting)
    Allen Edmonds Recrafting
  • Proudly made in the USA at our Port Washington, Wisconsin factory

First introduced in 1956 and brought back by popular demand in 2009, this model is our ode to a style that dates back hundreds of years. You see, originally, the wingtip gained popularity in Scotland because its secondary trim provided extra protection from the Highland's rocky crags and its perforations allowed water to drain from shoe as a highlander traversed boggy landscapes. Over the years, this dress brogue has remained a must-have model because its traditional 5-Last fit, sturdy leather sole and the strength conveyed by the short wings instill a sense of confidence to anyone who wears them. Of course, it doesn't hurt that the perfing on the wing, throat and backstay along with the pinking and intricate toe medallion also make these shoes as refined as they are enduring. And just as it has evolved from its humble beginnings into the quintessential business shoe, the McAllister is perfect for the man who is making his way in the world, but hasn't forgot where he came from.

Great looking shoes ... until I wore them. This was my first AE purchase (which I made at a AE store in Boston last week - service was excellent). The shoes looked great out of the box. I especially enjoy the detail work in this shoe. I finally had the opportunity to wear them to work today. I wore them from 8:30 AM - 7:30 PM under normal office work conditions. I did not walk in the rain, snow, or extreme heat or cold. I walked short distances outside (e.g. ten minute walk each way from parking to the courthouse, short walk to get lunch, normal walking through office). To my dismay, I noticed that on the right shoe, "paint bubbles" formed on the vamp and when I touched them, a paint-like substance flaked off the shoe, exposing a dull surface (contrast to the "depth of the leather" quote stated on the website video discussing the shoe finish). As the day went on, the flaking continued. When I was able to remove the shoes at home, it appeared that there is a spray-paint like substance on the surface of the shoe and that it had a dried out appearance, leading me to believe that the flaking would only continue if I were to wear them again. I am extremely disappointed with this product. I have never experienced such flaking in shoes- even a pair of garbage Bostonian loafers that I wore and treated terribly did not have this issue. I would never have expected this and I haven't decided yet if I am going to exchange these and try a different pair (maybe it is a defect - although the spray-paint substance leads me to believe otherwise) or just obtain a full refund. The shoes do gouge the ankles a bit, but if that was the only issue then I would not have written this review. May 1, 2015
Wow, the new Dark Chili is AWESOME I've been an Allen Edmonds customer for about 6-7 yrs now, and currently own about 10-11 pairs. My first was the Delray, and my most recent - the McAllister in Dark (Bob's) Chili. Wow, this is the finish I've been waiting for - I love AE's Walnut, and the Dark Brown, but have really wanted something right in between. Bourbon just wasn't what I wanted, but the new Dark Chili is PERFECT. Keep up the great work guys, and oh yes - the shoes themselves are fantastic. But then, I already knew they would be.... I'm a sucker for wingtips, and the McAllister is AE's flagship wingtip, if you will. You will NOT regret buying a pair of these: Oxblood, Walnut, Dark Chili, Black, doesn't matter - just do it. Absolutely beautiful Not long ago I purchased my very first pair of Allen Edmonds (Park Avenues in black). I loved those so much that I snapped up these McCallisters in Walnut when they went on sale. They are a perfect fit, and even more handsome looking in person than in pictures. I wear black shoes most of the time, but now I'm looking for excuses to bring these out instead. Be patient during the breaking-in period. In just a short time they will feel like old friends. April 26, 2015
Versatile Shoe I find the fit comparable to my Fifth Avenues; I ordered the same size in this shoe and it fit well. I felt at first as if it were a tiny bit too narrow, but this feeling has waned as they have become more broken in with wear. Walnut color is terrific and versatile. I have received many compliments. The Poplar Dress Belt in Walnut (99630) matched the color well. April 22, 2015

Ordered Randolfs in 11, (79 last) too small. McAllister in 11.5 (65 last) seems too big. Is the difference the last?

Answer:
The 65 Last is the longest in length of all of our lasts; best for a long, narrow look; and often the best fit for those with high arches. The 79 Last has a tapered back portion which allows for lower, shorter vamp designs creating a low fit across the top of the foot.

The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores as each last will fit differently based on individual foot shape. If that's not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoes in returnable condition.

Hi! Looking to pick up the McAllister's. I would like to know if the Bob's chili on the Manistee Dress Belt matches the chili burnished calf color on the McAllister? I need to make sure these match or find a belt that does. Cheers

Answer:
Yes, the McAllister in Chili Burnished Calf actually uses the Bob's Chili leather and will coordinate with the Manistee Dress Belt in Bob's Chili. We apologize for the confusion.

All welted Allen Edmonds shoes, such as the McAllister, feature a shank-less construction, meaning our shoes do not contain a metal shank like shoes from other brands; the sole is made of 100% leather with the exception of the rubber top lift. One major benefit of this type of construction is that Allen Edmonds shoes can pass through airport metal detectors without setting them off. This construction also allows us to offer light weight and flexible styles that our customer's prefer.

From what I can tell, the only shoes for which Merlot is still an option are the McAllister (both with the regular leather sole and with the combination tap sole) and the Park Avenue. For all the other shoes, Oxblood is available instead (Park Avenue is available in both Oxblood and Merlot). Some of the loafers are available in Burgundy.

I think this is a shame, because I think the Merlot offers a slightly different aesthetic to the Oxblood. The Oxblood is a much brighter dark red, while the Merlot is both more subdued and, I think, a bit more purplish. The Merlot is also different from either shade of Chili, because it doesn't have a brownish tint to it.

So, I hope you're going to keep selling a broader range of shoes in Merlot. At some point, I'd like to pick up a Carlyle in burgundy, but I think the Oxblood is just too bright.

Allen Edmonds shoes are manufactured in a variety of lasts, so fit will vary from style to style. And while typically the same size and last can be ordered in all of our shoes, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape. The Maxfield loafer is constructed on the 114 Handsewn last which has a semi-round toe with a slightly shorter vamp; fuller across the ball of the foot. The McAlllister, on the other hand, is constructed on the 65 last which is the longest in length of all of our lasts; best for a long, narrow look; and often the best fit for those with high arches. By selecting shoes manufactured on the last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit.

The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Around Thanksgiving 2014 I discovered a page on your website that was for special handcrafted shoes. All I can remember was the pictures of a pair of these shoes was awe inspiring! I had never fell in love with a pair of shoes up until then!

As I remember the pair of shoes was ~660US dollars and would take around 6 weeks to create. The page vanished a couple of days after that...I knew I should of printed that page, but alas, it didn't happen.

Did AE drop this service or maybe AE is not aware of its disappearance? Please let me know!

All Allen Edmonds shoes are handcrafted and depending on the style they can be backordered several weeks.

If you are referring to placing an order for a custom shoe, you can find the link by hovering over the 'SHOES' link at the top left of our homepage. Once the menu pops up, click the 'Create Your Own/Custom" link. Or you can click the following link: http://www.allenedmonds.com/aeonlin...

Also, we sometimes offer limited edition styles that are available to order for a limited time; they are removed from our website once the promotion is over.

Bob’s Chili is our new dark chili burnished leather that uses several unique dyes to create distinctly powerful highs and lows in the Chili color range. It has a darker tone than our standard chili leather. Bob’s Chili was an experiment on the burnishing wheel created by Bob, our head of finishing.
