Would have been a great shoe.
My first venture with AE was a Strand I purchased 2 years ago in a Nordstroms. I am very happy with that shoe. So here I am excited with my second AE I ordered online. I like the Long Wing design so I chose the Aberdeen. I was so excited to open the box and take out the shoes from the dust bags. Until I tried them on....I am sad to report that I got a defective left shoe.
The eyelets of the left shoe are not aligned. I've attached pictures and you can see in the picture that the left eyestay of the shoe is positioned higher vs. the right side impacting how the eyelets align. So when you tie the laces, it is diagonal. The last pair of eyelets are so misaligned that the last eyelet of the left side aligns more to the 2nd to the last one of the right side. It is very unsightly and unbalanced.
Additionally, the tongue, even though it is partially hidden is also not aligned. It is leans diagonal to the left, which really looks bad as well. It seems like the left quarter of the shoe was cut bigger and affected the whole thing. If you look at the picture of my right foot, everything lines up nicely.
I'm asking for an exchange since I really like the style and I personally want to keep on trying to buy American. I hope I get a good one this time. Maybe I should stick to the store. I hope the factory sees this.

Great looking shoe - but very uncomfortable, stiff
Nice looking, versatile shoes. But these are the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever owned. Won't break-in as salesman told me - and it doesn't matter how they look if you can't wear them!

Great wearing show
These are the most versatile shoes I own. I have worn them with slacks, jeans and even a suit. The soft leather is very comfortable. I have recommended this style to all my friends.

Stylish addition
Great looking shoes that make casual Fridays at the office a little sharper. I added the red shoelaces for an extra touch. These shoes get lots of positive comments. The shoes fit great but are slightly narrower than other AE shoes.

In my particular case, this shoe does not seem to run large. I wear a 9.5 EEE and have been quite pleased with the fit.Hope this helps.

Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.The Jefferson style is manufactured on our 5-Last (65), which is the longest in length of our lasts, and fits best on a long, narrow foot. Meanwhile, the Aberdeen is constructed on our 2-Last (222). The 2-Last features an elongated toe with a slightly higher instep, and is very similar to the 8-Last (108) in that it also has an elongated forepart, only with a tapered and flatter toe. By selecting shoes manufactured on the same last that most resembles the contours of oneâs feet, customers will achieve a superior fit.
Typically the same size and last can be ordered in all of our shoes. However, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape. The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

After going through your online fitting the width of my foot is right on the line or D and E. Can you please let me know, in your best opinion, of this last will work in a D (e.g. is there a little extra width or would it be considered on the narrower side)? thanks, I know a fitting it is the best answer, but I live out of the country right now and will only be in the States long enough to try on at home and either keep or return.
