  • Proudly made in the USA at our Port Washington, Wisconsin factory

Surrounded by protected forests and sweeping farmland while boasting a population of a little over 1,000, Ashton, Idaho is located in the heart of the open-spaces that signifies the American West. Suitably, the style that bears the town's name is the most spacious footwear we offer. Building this five-eyelet blucher on the 8-Last creates the shoe's extra depth, which can be increased by removing the insole. This means that the Ashton can accommodate a custom orthotic or just provide that extra space for those looking for an unrestricted fit. The raised stitching on the split-toe and vamp coupled with the pre-stitched split-reverse welt gives these shoes a fresh appearance that will be at home in a casual office environment or on the weekend with khakis or jeans. We don't care if you chose them because you need the extra room or just want it; either way we know you'll be as big a fan of the Ashton as we have always been.

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

Ashton Derby Orthotics 4.4 5 96 96
Not only an excellent product, but also an extraordinary service This was my first experience with Allen Edmonds products and service. I could not have been happier. Purchasing online was a breeze. The site had all the needed information and explanation. Checking out was seamless. I received the products (2 pairs of shoes and 2 matching belts) exactly on the day they were promised. When I tried the shoes, I realized that my orthotics didn't fit well. I was very disappointed because I really liked how the shoes felt and looked. I took them the next day to the local Allen Edmonds Store in Beachwood, OH to return them. The salesperson over there, Justin, made my day on that evening. He was able to find the wider size (which is not common: 9.5 and EEE) that fit the orthotics properly. His demeanor and willingness to help were amazing. I have been wearing these shoes for almost a month, and I can tell you I have never had more comfortable shoes in my entire life. I have been wearing Johnston & Murphy, Boss, and Bally in the past. While all of these brands were really good, none of them compares in my opinion to Allen Edmonds in terms of comfort and quality of the leather. I wear these shoes for 10-11 hours daily. And although I have fully flat feet, I don't feel the slightest fatigue when I'm wearing these shoes with the orthotics. Although they look slightly bulky, they are very light. I read in my previous review about "squeaking" sounds. I have not had that problem in either pair of shoes (black, and Chili). I have been using the colored laces to match my ties which has added a nice touch to the shoes. Not only am I happy with my experience, I only plan on becoming a regular customer of this brand, especially after I read about their story. A true American success story. December 13, 2014
Good looking orthotic style. My custom orthotic fits perfectly! Sorry Sorry Sorry December 7, 2014
Disappointed This is my first pair of Allen Edmonds I have purchased. I had foot surgery a few years ago, and need to wear an orthotic support for my left foot. I bought these, since you can remove the insole. I have found them to be quite heavy, noisy, and not very comfortable. They run bigger than expected, and even the double e is too wide with the orthotic insert. I wore these for a week at a conference, and doubt I will wear them again, which is upsetting since I spent over $300 dollars. I have ordered this same shoe in another color in the regular width in hopes they work better. December 5, 2014
Very disappointed I require a narrow shoe. I have worn Allen Edmonds shoes for years and the narrow sized shoe has always fit perfectly. The shoes I received are too wide. It is certainly not the same sizing as all the other Allen Edmonds shoes that I have. This is not a narrow shoe. December 3, 2014

All of our lasts have some degree of “swing” to the inside because feet are not entirely straight.

I like the style of this shoe, but I'm looking for something a bit more casual in appearance. Is it possible to order this shoe in the black wax infused leather?

Yes, the Ashton style was designed with an orthotic fit in mind and so it features a removable insole to accommodate your own custom orthotic.

Absolutely, the Ashton style was designed with a dressy fit in mind, but it can be paired with either a suit or with jeans or khakis; they are the perfect foundation on which to build a great outfit. This style also features our VIP rubber sole, which is the most cushioning of the rubber sole options and perfect for those who are on their feet all day.

I do not require an orthotic insert, will this shoe fit the same as the prior version which was never billed as "orthotic?" Should I simply order the same size as an Ashton that I already have?

When the Ashton was introduced, a different style of orthotic insole was used, but other than that this style is still made on the same 8-Last (678), and so it will have the same fit.

Aside from the removable insole and the rubber sole, is there a difference in construction between the Ashton and the Walton? I ask because the Walton is now only available in black, and I might want to order an Ashton in a different color with a custom leather sole.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The Ashton style is manufactured on the 8-Last (678) which is modeled after the 4-Last, but with more depth to accommodate the removable orthotic. Our Walton style is constructed on our 3-Last (73) which features more room over the instep due to being wider across the ball of the foot. By selecting shoes manufactured on the same last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit.

Typically the same size can be ordered in most of our shoes. However, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape. The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

Yes, an individual can request a different sole be put on their shoe as a part of our Recrafting services in place of the style’s standard sole. However, the selection of which leather soles is limited to certain styles which include rubber, leather, and even golf soles.

Both the Ashton and Stockbridge styles are five-eyelet bluchers fully lined with calfskin leathers. These two styles are constructed on casual colored leathers, offered in our Black Custom Calf and Chili Burnished Calf.

Though similar in appearance, the Ashton and Stockbridge are quite different. For one, the Ashton style features a split-toe, while the Stockbridge is a cap-toe style. Our old Stockbridge style was manufactured on the 4-Last (234) and available with our Vibram min-lug tap sole with top lift. Meanwhile, the Ashton is constructed on our 8-Last (678) made with the VIP rubber sole. In addition, the Ashton is a very unique style, for it is a member of our Custom Orthotics Collection.
