Overview

This clearance shoe is a closeout style, and is therefore limited to the sizes and widths that are currently available online.

Allen Edmonds and the penny loafer came into existence right around the same time and over the years both have evolved without losing the American style that made them successful in the first. The Ascher captures the classic image of a penny but we've given this design a slightly longer and wider saddle for a contemporary look that can be dressed up or dressed down with equal favor. Crafted using Bourbon calfskin, this rich leather is the ideal choice to show off the Ascher's organic lines. The seam on the new style of moccasin toe is created with a pintuck stitch to add an element of sophistication to this otherwise traditional design. A roomier forefoot and higher toe wall marry nicely with a narrower heel for a comfortable yet secure fit. Overall, the Ascher is the natural selection for anyone looking for a loafer to both advance and enhance their wardrobe in one simple step.

Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

When caring for your calfskin, use Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Premium Shoe Polish with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Solid loafer High-quality shoe. Great fit for a wider (and flat) foot; other loafers just don't work for my foot shape. Bonus points for being made in the States. November 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by After service rocks! I bought the shoes for my trip to Napa/SFO and they were delivered to my address in Hawaii in an amazing 2 days! I first wore them in San Fran and they felt a bit tight in width but tried to walk and break them in for a few days. I noted that there were 2 stores in SFO so I went to the first store and Jay was wonderful in trying to find a pair of wider shoes for me to try on but there were none in the Embarcadero store. He told me that the Sutter Street store would have some for me to try so I went there and Mario was super accommodating and he ended up putting my shoes on the stretching machine overnight and having them ready prior to my departing flight the next day. What I got back were shoes that were much more comfortable and I am completely satisfied with the excellent customer service that both these gentlemen provided me. Mario even sent me an email to follow up with how my shoes felt after the stretching. Absolutely first rate service. September 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Loafer For All Uses I've tried them all the AE good year welted loafers except the Addison. This loafer is the only one that works for me because the quarters are cut low enough that they do not rub against my ankles. Also, the strap has a little more give (probably due to design and/or placement) than the 606 lasted Patriot, which did not work for me because (1) they squeaked, (2) were too tight across the instep due to the strap, and (3) the sides (or quarters) were so high up they were comical (and unwearable). The Ascher was better under the strap, and did not have other the design issues. It also has more toe box room than the Randolph and Westchester, which also were similarly too high on the sides for comfort. So, this particular loafer fits more like an Alden loafer with respect to the lower sides and heel than the typical AE loafer. So, I really like it. Also, the Oxblood calf is insanely beautiful and practical for basically any use. They are basically true to size on the brannock, probably a half size shorter than the 5 lasted shoes. Overall, these loafers are winners and, in my opinion, the good year welted loafer offered by AE. July 22, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great every day penny loafer These shoes are perfect every day loafers. I've been wearing them for two weeks and have already received several compliments. July 17, 2015

Answer:
Allen Edmonds shoes are constructed on a wide variety of lasts (foot molds) and each will feature unique fit characteristics. It is difficult to recommend a size through this channel and guarantee a proper fit because each last will fit differently based on the contours of your feet. The Park Avenue is constructed on our 65 Last which is the longest and narrowest last that we offer; whereas the Ascher is designed on the 606 Last with a roomier forefront and features a shorter and wider fit in comparison.

It is vitally important to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores or retail partners to increase your chances of being fit correctly for each last and style. However, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoes in returnable condition.

Probably an 8.5c or 8d would work for you. The 5 last is half size long for me.

Allen Edmonds shoes are constructed on a wide variety of lasts (foot molds) and each will feature unique fit characteristics. The Park Avenue is constructed on the 65 Last which is elongated with a narrow fit. The Ascher is constructed on the 606 Last which has a broad, flat toe providing a roomier forepart. The instep transition and cone rise is farther back than a typical Allen Edmonds last.
