Overview

Form meets function in the pairing of our Lexington dress shoes with the Dainite rubber sole. The new bottom blends seamlessly with the shoe’s classic uppers, but there is more to this rubber sole than meets the eye. It is durable and comfortable, and the studded bottom provides remarkable grip in all types of weather. That’s why it is the replacement sole of choice for some of New York City’s most well-known cobblers, and also the reason why you can now find the Dainite rubber sole on the Lexington and for the first time ever.

Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

When caring for your calfskin, use Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Premium Shoe Polish with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry.

Our new Dark Chili and Oxblood burnished leathers can be cleaned using a damp cloth to remove dirt and any residue. Follow by using a soft cloth to apply our Allen Edmonds Saddle Soap which cleans all smooth leather shoes while restoring the leather's natural oils.

Reviews
Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by my go-to rainy-day dress shoe I got this shoe (in "bourbon") for rainy workdays. The fit is just about perfect (I sized down half a size in length, and one width wider, than I measured). The uppers are wearing incredibly well, and the Dainite sole is really robust -- hardly shows any wear at all. Out of the box, these shoes tended to "squeak" when walking -- this has more or less disappeared as they were broken in. June 24, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice shoes I walk a lot in the city, and I was looking for great looking shoes with the durability to stand up. These shoes fit the bill, and I'm quite happy with them. Although the Lexington share a last with another pair of AE's I have, these did not fit the same and I had to go up a 1/2 size. June 24, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome! Beautiful shoe! Unbelievable customer service! Superior fit and I live the Dainite soles! June 24, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by First pair of quality dress shoes I finally decided to stop spending a hundred bucks every year on cheap dress/work shoes, and get some REAL shoes. Shoes that fit well, would last a long time, and be remanufactured rather than just replaced. I'd heard about Allen Edmonds in this respect for quite a while, and bought two pair (same style in different colors), from their Clearance selection. I was not disappointed. Had them about 4 months now, and am finding them to be comfortable, presenting the appearance I want, and taking care of them properly is proving to be pretty easy. Storing them with the cedar shoe trees, the occasional coat of polish. I feel pretty confident that these shoes will last me quite a long time - they're quite sturdy, without being clunky or overly heavy. I've never had an issue with traction in wet or icy conditions, either. Two thumbs up, and I'll definitely be looking here if I ever need to buy another style shoe in the future. June 24, 2016

I bought a pair a while back. I've broken them in pretty thoroughly, but they squeak. Is there anything I can do to stop them from squeaking?

Answer:
Squeaking sometimes occurs on new shoes because Allen Edmonds uses authentic leathers such as calf skin. When two pieces of new leather rub against each other, such as the leather lining, upper leather and /or tongue leathers, a slight squeaking may occur. The fix is usually quite simple; general wear will eliminate the noise or you can apply leather lotion as a lubricant. Lotion can be found at AllenEdmonds.com, most shoe shine stands or simply visit an Allen Edmonds store and have a store associate apply the lotion for you.

Importantly, if you have any further concerns or needs please contact our online customer service team directly at eservice@allenedmonds.com or 1-877-817-7615 (Mon-Fri 7:00AM-8PM CST).

Answer:
The Park Avenue is a Balmoral style and the Lexington is a Blucher style. A Balmoral is a front-laced shoe in which the quarters meet and the vamp is stitched at the front of the throat. A Blucher is a style where the quarters flap open at the vamp, giving extra room at the throat and instep in fitting; the opposite of the balmoral style, which has a sewn, closed vamp.

The Dainite rubber sole is not a golf sole. The Dainite Rubber Sole is our newest rubber sole option. It’s durable, yet maintains a sleek profile while the stud pattern provides shock absorption.

I pass through security/metal detectors many times per day. This would be my ideal dress shoe, but I would have to pass if it contains much metal. Is the shank steel or fiberglass?

Answer:
All Allen Edmonds welted shoes feature a shank-less construction, meaning our shoes do not contain a metal shank like shoes from other brands. One major benefit of this type of construction is that Allen Edmonds shoes can pass through airport metal detectors without setting them off.

The Toby Mini-Lug Rubber Sole has the strength of a hiking sole with less heft. This is a great option for casual styles, but it is also used to update the appearance of dress shoes as the tread pattern can be seen in the profile of the sole. The Dainite Rubber Sole is our newest rubber sole option. It’s durable, yet maintains a sleek profile but the stud pattern still provides shock absorption.

Answer:
The only difference between these two Lexington versions is that one features the Dainite Rubber Sole and the other features a Single Oak Leather sole. Rubber soles tend to provide more traction and generally hold up better than leather soles on wet ground, but it's really comes down to personal preference. Besides that, the design, pattern and fit will be the same.

Answer:
The Dainite sole is a relatively clean sole, but it may collect surface debris as much as any other treaded rubber sole would. However it should be easier to remove due to the circular shape of the studs, as opposed to deep treaded sole where the debris can remain lodged.

Answer:
The Lexington style is constructed on the 65 Last which is the longest in length of all of our lasts; best for a long, narrow look. The DelRay, on the other hand, is constructed on the 108 Last which has an elongated forepart with a tapered and flatter toe.

It is vitally important to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores or retail partners to increase your chances of being fit correctly for each last and style. However, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoes in returnable condition.
