Overview

While supplies last. Limited to the sizes and widths that are currently available online.

One look at the vivid images created by iconic American artist Maxfield Parrish perfectly demonstrates the dramatic effect that texture and color can have on a composition. Similarly, both those elements have played a role in making this shoe our best-selling loafer. The underlay woven saddle and collar coupled with the classic tassel gives these hand-sewn moccasins a unique identity all their own. These creative elements become even more pronounced in the black-and-mahogany two-tone model, which is perfect for someone in the market for casual footwear that goes well with dress slacks or khakis. And for those who can't decide, the Maxfield in chili burnished calf can be worn with just about anything. Add in the comfort and stability of the full leather linings and single oak leather sole, and you have a picture-perfect shoe.

Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

When caring for your calfskin, use Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Premium Shoe Polish with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by This shoe fits. This shoe fits nicely! I'm a 8.5 size and the 8.5 fits nice. And after two days they fit like a glove. I have two colors of this shoe chile and Melot and could not be happier. September 3, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by would not order by web again This is a beautiful loafer but they just do not fit.. They fit at the front but are too wide at the heel which causes them to flop off as I walk. I discovered this the first time I wore them but had already scuffed the sole so did not think I could return them.....$175 wasted. July 16, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful craftsmanship and style. Bought these in Chil a couple years ago - at full price - and still they are a bargain - What a beautiful shoe - And if u can get them on special do it. I wear a B width - so AE is my go to place for shoes - the fit is perfect and the quality is even better. July 15, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Great shoe, but braiding splits around heel! These are my favorite shoes, but there seems to be no way to prevent the splitting. I wear Allen Edmonds almost exclusively, and I take exceptional care of them. However, I cannot recommend this shoe. July 14, 2016

Maxfield Tassel Loafers

I recently tried on the Maxfield in my measured Brannock size and it was far too uncomfortable at the top of the foot area due to my high arches - the area with the banding and tassel pressed down hard on the top of my foot making them painful to wear more than a few minutes. Loved the look of this loafer though. Looking at the Rye, had two questions -
1. I normally wear 0.5 size down in all my AE shoes except for the 114 last which I find shorter. Would you suggest brannock size, or 0.5 sizes down for the 2592?
2. Regarding the top area / pressing down, do you think the Rye will be more forgiving for high arches or exactly the same?
Thanks!

Answer:
The Maxfield and the Rye NY are constructed on different lasts so the fit will be different. The Rye NY is constructed on the 2592 Last which has a rounded, fuller toe and it's 1/8 inch longer than the Maxfield's 114 last. The added length may help with the vamp not falling as deep on the instep, however this can vary based on individual foot shape.

The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

Answer:
The Cody and the Maxfield are constructed on different lasts. The Cody Tassel Loafer is constructed on the 79 Last, which has a tapered back portion that allows for lower, shorter vamp designs creating a low fit across the top of the foot. The Maxfield is a Handsewn style constructed on the 114-Last which features a slightly shorter vamp with a more rounded toe.

The two-toned Maxfield is a closeout style, and is therefore limited to the sizes and widths that are currently available online. However, we recommend checking out the Maxfield in black leather or in chili leather which are still part of our current collection and are available to order in a size 11D.

Considering the Maxfield as my next purchase but concerned with the reviews regarding squeak and loose heel. Will AE replace the shoes if they develop the squeak or if the heel falls off?

Answer:
The squeak can be fixed by applying a bit of WD-40.

I cannot recommend the Maxfield, although it is made on the same last as the Walden and the Stowe, both of which I highly recommend. The Maxfield, however, it loose fitting and I cannot get it to fit correctly even by using tongue pads.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The “squeaking” noise is sometimes caused by the leather lining of our shoes rubbing against leather on the outside of the upper. This noise does not indicate a problem with the construction of the shoe; it is natural for two types of leathers which are layered upon one another to make noise. Depending on the leather and construction, the noise will start to dissipate once the shoes are broken in. Also, the wear on the heel is highly dependent on the amount of walking one does and terrain in which one walks in.

However, we want you to know that at Allen Edmonds we stand behind everything we sell, if you are unhappy with your purchase, please feel free to contact our customer assistance center directly at cacmail@allenedmonds.com or 1-800-235-2348 (Mon-Fri 7:00AM-6PM CST) and they will be happy to assist you.
