Overview

While supplies last. Limited to the sizes and widths that are currently available online.

First introduced in 1956 and brought back by popular demand in 2009, this model is our ode to a style that dates back hundreds of years. You see, originally, the wingtip gained popularity in Scotland because its secondary trim provided extra protection from the Highland's rocky crags and its perforations allowed water to drain from shoe as a highlander traversed boggy landscapes. Over the years, this dress brogue has remained a must-have model because its traditional 5-Last fit, sturdy leather sole and the strength conveyed by the short wings instill a sense of confidence to anyone who wears them. Of course, it doesn't hurt that the perfing on the wing, throat and backstay along with the pinking and intricate toe medallion also make these shoes as refined as they are enduring. And just as it has evolved from its humble beginnings into the quintessential business shoe, the McAllister is perfect for the man who is making his way in the world, but hasn't forgot where he came from.

A leather sole has a special feel and traditional look that can't be beat. But in certain inclement weather situations or for guys whose jobs involve lots of time on their feet, it can be good to have the traction and stability that only a rubber sole can add. So you don't have to choose between these two options, we decided to fuse them into the tap sole, a leather sole with V-tread rubber inserts on the forefoot and heel. Polished yet practical for the ultimate presence and performance, the tap sole will have you walking tall, and that's no song and dance.

Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

When caring for your calfskin, use Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Premium Shoe Polish with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by A beautiful and versatile shoe I've had a pair of these in the merlot burnished calf with the combination tap sole for about three years, and they have been very dependable. Fit is true to size and the leather gleams when I put a shine on them. The color works equally well with pretty much any color of suit (other than black and very light greys or tans), so a rotation of this and black Park Avenues/Fifth Avenues will get you very far. Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful I have the Merlot color with the combination sole - got them on sale at a great price. wear with suit or jeans - you can get away with this shoe for either! They are beautiful shoes and fit great, as long as you know the right size in the last. I wear 9.5E in most lasts - for the 65 lastI need a 9 EEE. July 14, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great business shoe for a casual life style First, I will say I only wear Allen Edmonds shoes. This product caught my eye since I was looking for a more business or formal style shoe since I live in a community where casual dress is prevalent. This product was perfect for my needs. This product looks great with many styles of clothing. From the style to the color to the quality to the value, this shoe cannot be beat. The topping is that this shoe is recraftable July 14, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very nice shoes but need quality control improvement I love the shoes. It is comfortable, elegant, and good quality. This is my first McAllister, and I love it to dead. One thing put a negative mark on my experience is the sketchy quality control. I had to exchange the shoes 2 times before giving up and be "ok" with what they sent me (there are 2 eyelets that have the round leather filled, they didnt cut it out thoroughly). The first one had bad stitching job, the second one was perfect except a big dent in the leather, visible to the naked eyes. Seriously, AE needs to step up in QC, I understand sometimes you guys can let a bad pairs escape, but QC is pretty bad given for shoes in this price range, just google it... Still, the customer service is quite nice and somewhat make up for it, but please, I hate exchanging shoes and keep waiting for a good pairs! July 13, 2016

Just wondering what color edge dressing is used on the Merlot. It would be great if there was some way to be able to know this prior to ordering for any given shoe so that people could order shoe, polish and edge together.

Answer:
At this time, the are no immediate plans to offer the McAllister with a standard single oak leather sole. Keep in mind, that you can special order it with a custom sole for an additional fee by selecting your preferred sole under the size and width.

Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

Products purchased on allenedmonds.com that are part of our standard catalog may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.
