Overview

While supplies last. Limited to the sizes and widths that are currently available online.

When a young friend found a poster of this shoe from the 1940s in his Belgium, Wisconsin attic he thought the design was super cool. Encouraged by a new generation of Allen Edmonds men excited about throwback shoes, we decided it was time to bring the Rogue back to life - a fitting metaphor because this shoe is full of vitality. Check out the perforations, which are 40% larger than usual for more pronounced character and stronger attitude. Just as striking are the sculpted arches and framed trimming on the sole that lift the in-step and create distinct and sophisticated contours. A product of the new 201 last, the Rogue also has a slightly broader toe and steeper vamp for a modern take on a classic look so that when you step out in this reintroduction you won't need any introduction at all.

Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

When caring for your calfskin, use Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Premium Shoe Polish with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry.

Our new Dark Chili and Oxblood burnished leathers can be cleaned using a damp cloth to remove dirt and any residue. Follow by using a soft cloth to apply our Allen Edmonds Saddle Soap which cleans all smooth leather shoes while restoring the leather's natural oils.

Further details and videos are available on our Caring for Your Shoes page.

Reviews
Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 37 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by GREAT FIT, GREAT LOOKING SHOE Love the look of this shoe in all of its colors. Wanted these in dark chili for a while but I honestly was waiting to see if a closeout or discount price would crop up if I was just patient. When the semi-annual sale of 2nd's arrived, I couldn't wait any more. The shoes just arrived yesterday and had to try them on immediately. I got these in 10 D and they fit like a glove. I had looked at a lot of reviews to see how the fit between the 5 last and the 201 last was different. I was a little hesitant to order them in the smaller size, but the other reviews on this site were spot on in their sizing advice between those two different lasts. I am confirming those observations. I also had purchased a pair of Rogue's in black on closeout in 10.5D a while ago. As a comparison, I also own a pair of Strand 10.5 D in walnut. The Strands are a wonderful fit at that size, while my black Rogues are a little large and loose in the toe box. I wear thicker socks and the Rogues fit pretty good that way. Thanks, Allen Edmonds, for producing such fantastic shoes right here in the good old U.S. of A. July 15, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sharp appearance and all-day comfort. This shoe is simply magnificent. Comfortable fit and eye catching style. It is great to have this kind of classic shoe presentation in a 21st century professional environment. July 13, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great style, high-quality shoes These are the first Allen Edmonds shoes that I’ve ever purchased (a couple of months back). I was never really into shoes but was tired of buying inexpensive, low-quality shoes that I needed to replace every 10 months. I read on blogs/forums that Allen Edmonds was the place to go for American made shoes so I decided to take the plunge. I’m very impressed by the versatile style and comfortable fit of the shoes but was most impressed by the quality. The leather is subtle, the burnishing is beautiful and the construction is second to none. These shoes have brought my style game to another level and i’m often complimented on them. I’m now looking to purchase at a pair of Daltons. July 13, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good value and quality I very much like the shoes. I own 8 Allen Edmond shoes already and I enjoy them very much, elegant and comfortable shoes!!. However, in this case I found the color of these shoes not exactly as depicted or expected. I ordered dark chili and they basically look brown gto me...not kind of dark reddish (chilies are reddish not dark brown) July 13, 2016

Answer:
Most (if not all) of the shoes you mention are 65 last. I have quite a few 65 last shoes in 12 EEE. a couple of the can be a bit tight in the toes after a full day. The Rogue's 201 last is a bit roomier in the toe. That is better for me. It is also a bit less tight across the instep because of the open lacing. (Also good for me.)
I would try the same size as your others. Try them on on carpet, and return them for a smaller size if you need to.

Answer:
Allen Edmonds shoes are constructed on a wide variety of lasts (foot molds) and each will feature unique fit characteristics. It is difficult to recommend a size through this channel and guarantee a proper fit because each last will fit differently based on the contours of your feet. The Rogue is constructed on the 201 Last, which is different than the lasts used for the styles you mentioned.

It is vitally important to visit an Allen Edmonds retail store or retail partner for a professional fitting to increase your chances of being fit correctly for each last and style. However, if that's not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoes in returnable condition.

Am looking for the correct polish for these, I assume that the brown that comes in the kit is not correct since these are dark chili burnished.

On a side note, is it possible to get a exact replacement of the flat shoelaces to have as a spare? Don't see them listed on the site.

Answer:
You can pick-up the correct color of shoe polish to match your shoes at either an Allen Edmonds store or an Allen Edmonds Outlet. The polishes are reasonably priced and they're made to match your exact color shoe (or you can order them online). If that's not an option, you can always use clear polish which will work as well.

Answer:
We recommend using the Premium Shoe Polish by Allen Edmonds in Bob’s Chili as this is the same color as the Dark Chili.

At this time we do not offer replacement flat laces for the Rogue. However, a member of our Customer Service team will reach out to you to offer some suggestions as a replacement.

Is the 201 last more like the 97 last or the 65 last? The 97 last fits me perfectly, whereas the 65 last is long. Which of these two "classic" is the 201 most similar to? Put another way, if I take a 6.5 E in the 97 last and a 6 EEE in the 65 last, which size in the 201 last is likely to be best for me? Unfortunately, I live too far from an Allen Edmonds store to use a master fitter. Thank you for your assistance.

Answer:
If you have found a very good fit in the 65 last, the 201 last will fit you almost exactly the same if you keep the width and get 1/2 smaller size. So your 6 EEE in the 65 last would compare to 5 1/2 EEE in the 201 last, at least in my experience

Answer:
I would try the 6. I take a 12 EEE in the 65 last, but the 12 in the 97 is too short for me. (I describe it opposite from you.)
The 201 is, I think, even roomier in the toe than the 65, so I don't think you'd be happy with the longer size.
I have had to return shoes that didn't fit well, and have never had difficulty from AE about returning them for a different size or for a refund.

Answer:
I enjoy my 65 last shoes, but the 201, in the same size, is far more comfortable for me. I understand that I'm in the minority as most guys get the Rogue one-half size smaller.

I'd say the Rogue fits much like the Grayson, which is the only 97 last that I own. The Grayson fits very comfortably, but if I had to compare, I'd say the Grayson fits just a bit larger in the heal than the Rogue, but that may be because its a loafer and not snugged up with laces.

Answer:
I've never owned a pair of AE shoes in the 97 last, but maybe this will help:

Balmoral-style shoes on the 65 last in size 10D fit me dead perfect. I'll wear them from morning to bedtime and forget they're there. The first pair I had were McAllisters, and at first they did feel just a little "long". I got over it. Partly I think it was just that the rather thick and stiff leather sole took a little breaking in.

A pair of Rogues, Blucher-built on the 201 last, fit almost as well, but a half-size smaller in 9.5D. They aren't quite as perfectly snug as the Balmorals across the forefoot, though, and I think if they were any wider than D they would be too wide. However they don't feel any longer than shoes in the 10D / 65 last / Balmoral style; if anything the 201 in 9.5D feels "shorter".

Hope you can use that to triangulate.

Answer:
The 201 Last resembles the 65 Last closest in fit and length. The difference is that the 201 Last is a little wider in the toe box and will have a higher cone providing more room for a higher instep. These two lasts feature a slightly longer and narrower fit than the 97 last. It is difficult to recommend a size through this channel and guarantee a proper fit. Each last will fit differently based on the contours of your feet.

It is vitally important to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores or retail partners to increase your chances of being fit correctly for each last. We understand sometimes this is not possible, so keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. If you polish your shoes regularly you have nothing to worry about. I have been caught in the rain in these shoes and they were fine afterwards. That being said, they aren't waterproof so I wouldn't walk through puddles or through snow.

Answer:
I walk to work, (about 0.75 miles) and got caught in a drizzle that turned into rain on the way home. I towel dried mine, and then re-polished them the next day. No problems. I would still avoid rain if possible, and obviously avoid that gross chemical salt infused snow/slush that piles up in some parts of the country. Keep in mind that AE got their start producing shoes and boots for the military, so I think they understand that you may need to walk in the rain sometimes.

Answer:
It's best to protect your shoes from a lot of water. Especially the shoes with leather soles. Order a pair of Swims overshoes from AE store or online. Good investment. They are lightweight and fit easily into a gym bag or laptop case.

Answer:
All Allen Edmonds shoes are susceptible to water damage as they are made from fine leather which is natural material and so it is important to care for your investments to prolong the life of your shoes. We do not recommend wearing fine leather shoes in rainy or snowy conditions. We recommend using Swims overshoes which are a great way to protect your investments and allow you to wear your favorite shoes regardless of weather conditions and protect the shoes against rain, snow, salt, and anything else you might come across.

Answer:
Yes, the Sanford was constructed on the 97 last, and the Rogue is constructed on the 201 Last. The 97 last is the best fit for the average foot. The 97 last is one of Allen Edmonds early lasts, and has a soft, slightly pointed toe. It lays flatter in the toe area for a classic American look. The 201 last is the newest last introduction from the Product Development team. This last has a higher cone, providing more room for a higher instep and contemporary shelf appeal. The toe down has fuller forefoot width for more comfort and slight chisel to the toe profile, providing a sleek looking aesthetic which complements our iconic 65 last.
