Overview

This clearance shoe is a closeout style, and is therefore limited to the sizes and widths that are currently available online.

By combining a storm welt with a Toby Mini-Lug sole, we've given these shoes a strength of character perfect for a rough-riding outdoorsman looking for a dressier alternative to his trusty work boots.

Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

These types of leathers can be cleaned using a damp cloth to remove dirt and any residue. Follow by using a soft cloth to apply Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion, which has been specifically formulated for this type of leather.

Reviews
Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 14 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice shoe, but runs narrow. Overall quality seems not as refined as my previous Allen Edmonds shoes. Fairly good shoe, runs narrow compared to my other 9.5 D shoes (Lloyd, Player, ) and the overall quality seems less refined than previous Allen Edmonds shoes I've had, such as Leeds, Park Avenue, Rapid City, Aberdeen, etc. September 25, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Extremely happy with shoe. Sole has a little squeek Great product. Color was correct. I buy all my dress shoe at AE. . Thanks September 19, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor quality- Heel fell off after 5 wears I bought these and wore them gently 5 times, and then the rubber base of the heel fell off one shoe. Replacement process took 4 weeks and required several follow-up emails. I just got the “new” replacements and one shoe is heavily creased on the side and has obvious blemishes. Looks like a factory 2nd. Overall I’m very unimpressed with the shoes and service. August 1, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Product is good but buyer beware Disappointed that first shoes sent to me were clearly seconds. Check marks were on the soles. After returning these shoes, AE shipped first quality shoes to me. For the price, I would expect better quality control. July 2, 2015

What are the primary differences between 2.0 and 1.0 Varno shoes? I see nothing different in the "Overview" bullets for each shoe.

Answer:
The difference between the Varno 1.0 and Varno 2.0 are the soles. The VARNO 1.0 has the Hamlet rubber sole whereas the VARNO 2.0 has the Toby mini lug rubber sole. Both of these rubber soles are built to handle various climates and landscapes, but the tread pattern is slightly different.

I have a pair of Rapid City shoes. I like their casual look and their fit. I know they both use the same Last. I was wondering how the Varno compares to the Rapid City shoes.

Answer:
The Rapid City and the Varno 2.0 will be very similar in both style and fit since they are constructed on the same 511 Last. The main difference in these styles are the soles and leather color offerings. The Rapid City featured the V-Treat tap sole while the Varno 2.0 features the Toby Mini-Lug Rubber sole.

Does the Varno have a removable footbed so I can use my custom orthotics?

Answer:
The Varno 2.0 does not feature a removable insole. We recommend checking out the styles that are part of the Orthotic Collection or the Road Warrior Collection as those feature removable inserts to accommodate your own custom orthotic.

Answer:
The Varno 2.0 and the Black Hills are similar in style since they are both plain-toe shoes with a rubber sole, however they each have their own unique fit. The Varno 2.0 is made on the 511 last which is good for the average foot but has a more rounded, fuller fitting toe than other styles. The Black Hills is constructed on the 65 Last which is the longest in length of all of our lasts; best for a long, narrow look; and often the best fit for those with high arches.

Answer:
The discontinued Warton was constructed on the 511 last, which is the same last used for the Varno 2.0; as a result the fit will be similar. Since feet do tend to change in size and shape overtime, we recommend visiting your local Allen Edmonds store to be measured and ensure a proper fit for this style.

Answer:
The Varno 2.0 features a Toby mini-lug rubber sole and does not include a leather sole. However, it is constructed using a 4 iron leather midsole which is a very thin layer of leather between the rubber sole and the insole. All of our 360 degree Goodyear Welted shoes, including this style, include the cork layer under the insole to allow each foot to form its own uniquely shaped footbed for custom comfort.
