CARING FOR BURNISHED CALFSKIN To remove the slight haze you may notice with a new pair of burnished calfskin shoes, wipe them with a soft cloth or brush with a horsehair brush. Clean regularly with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry. Then, using a soft cloth, apply a medium coat of Allen-Edmonds premium shoe polish in a suitable color and allow to air dry. Brush with a horsehair brush to remove excess polish and buff using a soft cotton flannel cloth.

The shoes in the Allen Edmonds Classic Collection * have been constructed by hand using the company’s famous 212-step 360 degree Goodyear welt construction process since 1922, no shortcuts allowed.
There are many types and qualities of leather available, but we proudly source only the finest European leathers. Allen Edmonds calfskin leather has tighter pores than most competitive leathers. Thus, the shoes hold a shine better, are more durable and resist wrinkling.
The heated cork layer under the insole forms to your foot over time, providing a custom, orthotic-like fit. The more you wear your Allen Edmonds shoes, the better they form to your feet. We call this “custom cork comfort.”
Allen Edmonds is the largest cobbler in the world, and we perform all Recrafting® services in our Port Washington, Wisconsin facility where many of our Classic shoes were first handcrafted. We perform Recrafting on almost 50,000 pairs of shoes each year. To learn more about Recrafting Allen Edmonds shoes, visit www.allenedmonds.com/recrafting, where you can also see a video of our services.
*Some Classic shoes, such as loafers, use a handsewn construction technique outlined in the Casual section. |

This style is recraftable. When you send your shoes in for Recrafting®, our experts will first free the uppers from worn soles. Stretched over the proper last, the original uppers become shoes again through our unique manufacturing process. After your shoes are re-welted, soled and heeled, old finishes are carefully removed from the leather and new polishes and waxes applied. In about four weeks, shoes that look surprisingly new are returned to you. |
