Overview
The Neumok is a six-eyelet balmoral with classic Allen Edmonds brogueing from heel to toe, all achieved on an unlined upper in your choice of four distinctive distressed leathers. Whichever leather you choose, each is extremely malleable, promising to give you a personal fit and that sought-after lived-in look from the first day you lace up the Neumok. A perfect contrast to the supple body of the shoe, the single leather butyl sole with a stylish split-reverse welt provides a strong profile that is further enhanced by its handsome toasted edge. For those looking for a fresh take on the wingtip that goes with today's unconstructed look, don't muck around with anything else!
Allen Edmonds Shoe Care
These types of leathers can be cleaned using a damp cloth to remove dirt and any residue. Follow by using a soft cloth to apply Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion, which has been specifically formulated for these leathers or our Allen Edmonds Saddle Soap which cleans all smooth leather shoes while restoring the leather's natural oils.

Gosh, I'd say of all my shoes these in red or whatever color is my favorite. 4th pair of AE.
The shoes suggest red but the entire shoe is sketchy because it goes from muddy brown to dark red.
These shoes seem highly water resistant. They do not seem to ever get soaked so maybe the leather is treated somehow? Threw them in a bath once after walking through a muddy field and they dried out with no problems whatsoever.
I have to get these resoled. I've had them for about four months and they look almost new except for the worn out soles.

I bought these shoes almost a year ago. I got the Acorn Hillfire color (a Nordstrom special ). I absolutely love the look of the shoes. BUT - they have been painful to wear. There is a seam right next to the toe that rubs intolerably because the shoe is not lined. The shoe is not tight in that area, the seam just rubs if there is any movement. Socks help but there is some glue that is used on the seam and it sticks to the sock and causes the sock to rub on the toe so after a short while the same the same problem occurs. I thought the problem would go away after some time but it is still an issue after nearly a year. I should note that I have a pair of McTavish, which is a lined shoe that is very similar and is built on the same last. The McTavish is very comfortable. I have to conclude the problem is caused by the seam and the corresponding glue in the unlined shoe.

Vincenzo & Adam set me up in a Blue pair. Very nice! I can, and do, wear them with just about anything, and they look terrific. Admittedly, took some time to break in, but nothing out of the ordinary, and once done so, they are mine. A stylish stand-out, bold yet refined, nice shoes!

Such a shame that you can only get these shoes in tan and blue -- they've looked great in past colors like olive (for the fall). Any chance that the color offerings will be re-expanded? It seems there is a lot of demand for additional color offerings, at least based on the Q&A here on the website.

Love the Neumok for the available colors & wingtip design but wasn't a fan of having a single oak sole on a shoe like this so when I first heard the strandmok announced, I thought it would be a must-buy. But I have to admit, with the Strandmok I just don't get it. It has the danite sole but is still unlined, and the colors seem rather flat. Any chance you guys are coming out with either more Neumoks or a "Roguemok" in some wild color patterns? That would be great. BTW - I'm a huge fan, up to 23 pairs so far!

The Dalton and the Neumok are crafted on different lasts and as a result will feature a different fit. The Dalton is leather lined and manufactured the 511 last which is similar to the 97 last from heel to the ball of the foot, yet with a more rounded, fuller fitting toe. The 511 last is used in many of our boots because of the added room in the toe box. The Neumok is an unconstructed style, meaning that it is not lined, and it is manufactured on the 65 Last which is the longest in length of all of our lasts; best for a long, narrow look; and often the best fit for those with high arches.Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

I am hoping that due to the recent high demand of the Cyber Monday sales, AE was forced to temporarily take the red and olive Neumoks off the website to fulfill so many orders. Please tell me this is the case. Is AE really discontinuing these? The red Neumok is one of my favorite shoes of all time, followed closely by my black McTavish (which is also gone). What is the story?

The Neumok style is constructed on our 65 Last which is the longest in length of all of our lasts; best for a long, narrow look; and often the best fit for those with high arches. However, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape.The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

If we consider the average shoe to be something like the Park Ave or Fifth Ave, the fit of the Neumok is extremely similar, but I would say it is very slightly narrower, yes. Please note (as I stated in my review), that the brown Neumok is different than the others (that I would probably say is wider).Age: 25-34

I recently purchases the Acorn Hillfire Neumoks and was wondering how I should care for them. I see that you recommend water proofing them. Do I also need to use leather conditioner on them at any point? What is the best way to clean them?

The Acorn Hillfire leather has been buffed and distressed to achieve a unique velvet-like surface. As such, while it is not a suede or nubuck material, we recommend treating this type of leather with the same care as one would exercise for a suede or nubuck shoe.We recommend using our Allen Edmonds Spray Waterproofer only when caring for this style. Make sure the surface area is clean and dry; it can be cleaned by using a lightly damp cloth. Once dry, spray evenly from a distance of 6 - 8 inches and allow to air dry before wear.

I recently tried on a pair of Neumoks and am considering a purchase; however, after reading reviews of an issue with the heel falling off, I am a little hesitant. I was wondering if the issue has been addressed, or if the instances were just a result of the handcrafting process? I forgot to look inside the shoe to see if there are reinforcing eyelets for the shoe laces. I realize these are unstructured/unlined, but I worry about the integrity as I plan to wear these every other day for work (and hoping they last more than a few years - as I would consider $275 an investment). Lastly, how often do you recommend applying the leather lotion? Thank you!

It has NOT been dealt with. I purchased a pair of Neumoks Sept, 17 2014. I have worn them a mere 5 times and the heels are peeling. They have a serious problem with this shoe and it doesn't seem they have addressed it yet. The best thy can do is refund those that have a complaint as they have done with me. I can tell you this, based on the wear and general quality of the shoe, there is absolutly no way you can get more than a year of wear out of these. Certainly not if they are of the same build that mine were.As I said in my review, these shoes are simply not built to $275 shoe standards. Not by a long shot.

Aside from that, wear and tear on heels is highly dependent on the amount of walking one does. Weather also plays a large part in sole longevity. Rainy walking commutes are tougher on soles too. However, we want you to know that we stand behind everything we sell so if you are ever unhappy or have any issues with the materials or workmanship of our products we invite any customer with quality concerns or questions to call our customer service team or visit any of our store managers to discuss their needs.
The Neumok does have reinforcing eyelets. We recommend applying the leather lotion at least once a month, or as needed to keep the leather soft and supple.
