Overview

Our popular Dalton is the seed from which the Long Branch grew and if you look closely you can tell it didn't fall far from the tree. The Long Branch shares the round toe of the 511 last and similar brogueing and wing tip blucher styling of its forefather. But where the Dalton is designed to be more elegant, one look at the Long Branch's bigger perfs, split-reverse welt and Vibram rubber lug sole tells you it is crafted to be hardier footwear. A true boot in every sense of the word, we've even given the Long Branch four exposed eyelets to go with three speed hooks as an ode to its work boot brethren. Recraftable and sold with two pairs of laces to suit your mood, we are sure you will grow to love the Long Branch as much as we have.

Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

These types of leathers can be cleaned using a damp cloth to remove dirt and any residue. Follow by using a soft cloth to apply Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion, which has been specifically formulated for these leathers or our Allen Edmonds Saddle Soap which cleans all smooth leather shoes while restoring the leather's natural oils.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 193 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Saved my life! My brother gave me these boots for my birthday and I have worn them every day since! One week ago I was attacked by two pit bulls and these boots slowed them down enough that I was able to restrain them and make it to the ER. Unfortunately I didn't have Allen Edmond shirt and pants! Needless to say other than a few puncture holes my boots only needed a bit of polish! I needed antibiotics and stitches! Best footwear I've ever owned! May 21, 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Excited... but eventually quite disappointed I have a pair of Dalton Wingtip. Love 'em! Get compliments all the time. Wanted a more casual pair of AE boots to wear more regularly and also for the (2015) Holiday Season. Got the Long Branch about 6-7 months ago. Ordered the same size as the Dalton (8D). Super excited when I got them. Made the mistake of wearing them right out of box on first day and went out with friends. Got great compliments right away. Unfortunately, feet were hurting. The sizing was quite different from the Dalton; the Long Branch was bigger. The difference in size puts pressure and leaves painful red marks on various parts of my feet after wearing the boots. Can't return them since I was so eager to wear them, and did, when I first received the boots. I am afraid I am stuck with a nice pair of AE (worn less than half a dozen times) that I can't wear comfortably anymore. I am not discouraged from future AE purchases. But, I wish I had been more restrained in my excitement and returned the boots for the correct size. I would still recommend this boot to people. Just be aware that sizing may be different from one pair of AE to another. May 18, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best walking boots ever Got these in early February and used a couple of times and then wore them on my 5-day fun visit to NY City. Walked 6-8 miles each day. Boots fit like gloves, comfortable and light. Makes walking a real pleasure. I like how it looks, well enough to Carnegie's for a concert, to the office for an appointment, rrstaurant in the evening and great walking all over. Great purchase. Highly recommended. April 3, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Major defect in both pairs I received. Returned twice! My wife got me a pair of Long Branches for my birthday in January. At that time there was glue inside many of the brogues and flayed leather along most of the shoe. Sent in for an exchange for a new pair. 4 weeks later the new pair comes and there is a gash in the side of the boot, a large black stain (got them in brown) on the cap and a big dent in the soles. Also the color of the sold edges was only applied to half of the sole edge! Unacceptable for how much these cost. They look like factory seconds. I own walnut strands, black fith aves and jingle bell Moks and had no issue with these shoes. This is completely unacceptable and upsetting considering how much I loved this company. I guess I have to return these and hope third time is a charm. March 14, 2016

For the dark brown version, is there a different belt that's available to match? The last recommendation is only available in one size now.

Where can I buy replacement laces for AE Long Branch boots? Mine came with a bright red and a medium brown. I like the material, the thickness and the "stretchiness" of the laces provided. I would like to find replacements and perhaps additional colors. Thanks.

Answer:
Try AE. Call their stores. I was at one couple of weeks ago and they had a choice of colors for shoes. Round and waxed stuff. I would stay away from the flat ones sold outside and also the leather ones which look rough. I have seen it in Amazon. Measure how long the laces are and order that and perhaps a little longer. I like to wind mine around the top of the boots and then tie. They are more secured and seem more comfortable. Love these boots. Love the rubber soles. They make the boots so much lighter.

I wear 10 EEE in the 65 last shoes (e.g. Strand) but tried a Dalton in 10 EEE and it was too narrow. I see that this boot is built on the same last as the Dalton. Is it safe to assume the same fit? Or is there any chance that these boots (owing to the leather used) fit wider?

Answer:
Many factors can affect the fit of a shoe, however if the footwear is made on the same last we typically suggest trying the same size. However, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoes in returnable condition.

It appears from the pictures of the product that the cromexcell version of the long branch have a thicker vibram sole than that of the dark brown color. Is this a mistake or an option for each color?

Answer:
We use the same soles for Long Branch styles, but it may appear that the soles are different thicknesses due to the color of the welt or the way the picture was taken. The Golden Brown version has a dark brown welt, and the Dark Brown has a lighter color welt.

Yes, that's the Long Branch style, thank you for your question! It's the Golden Brown Chromexcel leather, but they may look darker due to the creative lighting and adjustments used by the photographer.

Yes, CXL leather is better for wet weather than calf; however, no leather is truly water repellent. For my CXL shoes I use CXL cream from Saphir and have been highly impressed.

Answer:
Horween’s Chromexcel leather is heavily oiled during the tanning process which consequently provides good water resistance. However, while Chromexcel leather will tolerate splashes of water, keep in mind that the boot is not consider to be waterproof and it is still susceptible to water or salt damage like any other fine leather shoe. For added protection, we suggest using SWIMS overshoes if you expect inclement weather conditions.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The Long Branch is considered an above-the-ankle boot style. Shoe and heel height will vary depending on the size and width of a shoe; however, these variations will be fairly insignificant.

For the Long Branch in a size 9 D, the shoe height from the bottom of the sole to the top of the upper will measure to be around 7-3/4 inches tall.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The Long Branch style features a rubber sole which is built to handle a number of climates, landscapes, and weather conditions. However, keep in mind that the upper is made of fine leather which is a natural material and so it is not considered to be waterproof.

Our shoes are indented for use for style and comfort in relatively controlled environments. To provide an added layer of protection against dirt, snow, or water, we offer waterproof premium Swims Mobster Overshoes which allow you to wear your favorite boots regardless of weather conditions.

I'm looking for a stylish winter boot and was hoping this would be it with the rubber sole. I live in NYC and spend some time in Central New York where the snow can be tough. Recommendations?

Answer:
I would get these. I was just in NYC a few weeks ago and walked all over daily. It snowed one evening. Rubber boots handled the situation well. If you are wearing it regularly in snow I would consider spraying with leather gel water repellent. Now no leather is ever water proof but I find if I track over snow for a short while and wipe the shoes with water immediately and then give it some polish, it keeps well. These boots look great.
