Overview

Transformation is good. Take the town of Nashua, New Hampshire, which almost disappeared off the map with the loss of its factories during the 1950s. But instead of giving up the town reinvented itself as a high-tech hub to become a two-time honoree as the best place to live in the United States. That kind of makeover reminds us of the style of this shoe, which takes the classic kiltie golf shoe design and revamps it into a casual moccasin. Originally, the kiltie was placed over the laces of golf spikes to keep out debris. Here, the kiltie not only adds just the right amount of sophistication but also acts as the perfect palate to allow the brown leather trim and tassels to play off the shoe's black or brown pebble grain body. By pairing this two-tone look with the slightly shorter vamp representative of the 114-Last and a tough Hamlet rubber outsole, we've also made this loafer more comfortable and rugged than ever. Among our most popular choice from the Casual Collection, the Nashua is sure to breathe new life into any man's wardrobe.

Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

When caring for your calfskin, use Allen Edmonds Conditioner Cleaner to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Premium Shoe Polish with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry.

Reviews
Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 165 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by The most comfortable pairs of shoes I own. This is my choice for traveling. I own all 3 colors. I wish they made more, as this style is unbelievably comfortable. They hold up well and wear beautifully. They make me never want to buy a leather soled pair of shoes again. I always take them on trip because I can walk for miles in comfort. March 25, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poorly made I bought three pairs of these shoes. Two are still basically unworn. The third I've worn regularly and they've started to fall apart. The soles began to separate weeks after I started wearing them. The rubber is very poor quality and the shoes are losing their shape as well. I wouldn't have bothered to write a review but noticed the Nashua wasn't in the newest catalogue. When I looked online I saw another reviewer had had the same bad experience. It's infuriating because I presume my other two pairs will fall apart when I start wearing them more as well. Readers: do not buy. February 26, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Very poor shoe I have purchased several A&E shoes in the past with great satisfaction however I was greatly disappointed in these shoes. At first the shoe was very comfortable and I enjoyed the look and feel of the shoe...but it soon lost its shape and the soles on these shoes fell apart and separated from the shoe itself...the heels wore out quickly and dis-colored. The shoe lost its shape and looked sloppy and dull. I would not recommend this shoe. February 19, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by My First A-E Rubber Soled Shoe As a second generation A-E customer, I currently own eight pairs of wonderful shoes of varying styles and age. I have never owned a pair of A-E shoes with rubber soles, so I was concerned that these might be less than what I experienced with my leather soled shoes. Suffice to say that I was very pleased, as they fit perfectly and comfortably the first time I wore them, as I would expect from any Allen-Edmonds shoe. The rubber sole was amazingly comfortable and made the shoe very quiet as well. I prefer loafers over a wingtip or more businesslike cap toe oxford, for example, but my office environment is such that I can wear a loafer and feel professionally dressed. I was concerned that the style of these loafers was too casual for the office, but they blend in well with a dress pant and are quite stylish. Needless to say, I am please with my Nashuas and am considering another pair in a different shade. January 18, 2016

Answer:
We do not make weather-proof or water-proof footwear. Allen Edmonds shoes are meant to be worn as dress or fashion footwear in mostly controlled environments. Fine leather is susceptible to water and salt damage because it is a natural material; as such, we advise proper care if expecting snowy or wet conditions. To provide an added layer of protection against dirt, snow, or water, we offer premium Swims Overshoes which allow you to wear your favorite shoes regardless of weather conditions.

Answer:
The Kenwood and the Flagstaff are made on the 800 last, the Nashua is made on the 114 last, and the Tobywing is made on the 1757 last. The last number is indicated in the bulletpoints in the description of each style. Please visit our 'All About Lasts' page, clicking the Last images will show you the current styles made in those lasts.

Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry. Squeaking sometimes occurs on new shoes because Allen Edmonds uses authentic leathers such as calf skin. When two pieces of new leather rub against each other, such as the leather lining, upper leather and /or tongue leathers, a slight squeaking may occur. The fix is usually quite simple; general wear will eliminate the noise or you can apply leather lotion as a lubricant. Lotion can be found at AllenEdmonds.com, most shoe shine stands or simply visit an Allen Edmonds store and have a store associate apply the lotion for you.

Importantly, if you have any further concerns, please contact our online customer service team directly at eservice@allenedmonds.com or 1-877-817-7615 (Mon-Fri 7:00AM-8PM CST). We would be happy to assist you.

Answer:
Every last runs a little different, but the 114 last used for the Nashua seems to run true to fit for me. I am a 13B and that fits me well with the Nashua. But for instance the Boca Raton runs a bit long and I wear a 12D Boca.
So it all comes down to the last and the shape of your foot.

Answer:
Allen Edmonds shoes are constructed on a wide variety of lasts (foot molds) and each will feature unique fit characteristics. It is difficult to recommend a size through this channel and guarantee a proper fit because each last will fit differently based on the contours of your feet. The Nashua is constructed on the 114 Handsewn last which is lower on the vamp, and fuller across the ball of the foot. To learn more about lasts, please click this link: http://www.allenedmonds.com/shoes-1...

It is vitally important to visit an Allen Edmonds retail store or retail partner for a professional fitting to increase your chances of being fit correctly for each last and style. However, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoes in returnable condition.

Is there a difference between these two soles other than the pattern? For instance, is one denser than the other?

Answer:
The proper care depends on the Nashua style you own. For the Black/Brown Nashua we recommend Black and Dark brown polish respectively to help maintain the color of the leather. For the Brown/Brown Nashua we recommend Dark Brown polish on the darker leather and Leather Lotion on the lighter brown leather. Finally, for the English Tan Nashua we recommend using only the Leather Lotion to prevent staining the contrast stitching. It is important to exercise caution on the two-tone styles to prevent cross-contamination of polish between the leathers.

Answer:
The Nashua is limited to the two-tone and the tan leather style currently offered online. We recommend checking out the Lowry Hill Tassel Loafer which has a similar design and is offered in both black and in brown leather.

Answer:
The widths of Allen Edmonds shoes range from AAA which is the narrowest width, to EEE which the widest width. At this time we do not offer or make shoes wider than a EEE. We recommend checking out styles constructed on lasts that are roomier across the ball of the foot, such as the 606 last (Patriot loafer) or the 800 Handsewn last (Kenwood loafer).

We also highly recommend visiting a master fitter at one of our retail stores as they will be able to better guide you in finding styles that will best fit the contours of your feet.

I would consider buying this shoe on sale. I usually take AE 9.5B. But for Wilburt, a 10B was suggested by you given the last, and it works we'll for me. What would you suggest for the Nashua? Thanks.

Answer:
Since each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape and the last that each style is constructed on, particularly when choosing Welted vs Handsewn styles, we highly recommend getting a proper fit by visiting a master fitter in one of our retail stores. The Nashua is constructed on the 114 Handsewn last which has a semi-round toe with a slightly shorter vamp; fuller across the ball of the foot.

If you are unable to visit one of our stores for a professional fitting, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

I have noticed some shoes have only half lining in leather, and the other half in canvas or no lining at all.
