Overview

Situated on the Scotland's rocky east coast, Dundee, with its medieval city center, array of parks, riverfront access and proximity to the hikes in the Highlands, is one of the world’s great walking towns. And to make sure you'll see all of it in comfort, you'll need a three-eyelet boot like the Dundee. An ankle-high blucher, this model provides great support and an adjustable fit. The rounded toe of the 511-Last allows for all-day wear while the Redenbach double-oak sole is built to stand up to the cobblestones of downtown or stand out in a more formal setting where you might find yourself on your feet all night. The rich shades of the Genuine Shell Cordovan leather glow just enough to set off the style's split reverse welt, fashioning a stunning silhouette that will have you walking on air.

Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

Cordovan leather requires different care than calfskin due to its different properties. To remove any natural oils or residue in areas where the shoe flexes, and to maintain the leather's quality, simply brush the leather with a horsehair shine brush or wipe with a cotton flannel polishing cloth. Polish occasionally with Allen Edmonds Cordovan Care Cream to protect the leather and maintain its rich color.

This shoe style is manufactured with Genuine Horween® Shell Cordovan. Click here to watch a video about the special care that goes into making Shell Cordovan, and learn about the long relationship between Allen Edmonds and Horween.

Rated 5 out of 5 by I find it hard to get narrow size Good shies are impossible to find in Narrow size. These felt good as soon as I out them on. March 22, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Get The Dainite sole I bought my pair a couple of years ago and while I always liked the look and the fit, I couldn't wear them in inclement weather because the leather sole was just too slick. This kind of defeated the purpose of a boot. I recently noticed AE was offering the Dainite sole as a replacement so I gave it a go. WOW. These soles are fantastic and have made the Dundee my go to shoe since November. I will be purchasing another pair with the Dainite sole. February 2, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by A perfect chukka I could not be happier with my pair of burgundy Dundee boots. The color is stunning and receives constant compliments, and while they were comfortable out of the box, they are now among my most comfortable footwear after a bit of breaking in. The design is classic and handsome, and the construction quality is first-rate. Bravo, Allen Edmonds, with some serious thanks due to John, Tom and Paul at the Destin store for pointing me towards the Dundee as an option - I absolutely love these boots. January 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by So far Great These started out as my fall boots, but the rotten weather has driven me to the black Long Branch which is more substantial. I love the look of the boot - low key. I hope they hold up as I intend these to be my go to shoes for most of the year. They take some breaking in - in fact, I don't think I'm there yet. I recommend shoe trees and the AE Cordovan leather polish as normal shoe polish DOES NOT work well on this leather - it clumps and leaves odd blobs on the surface that fortunately clean up with the Cordovan polish. Something was dropped on my shoes leaving a dimple on the toe. Other than that, the shoes are relatively new and won't be ready for a recrafting for a while. Is it possible for me to repair this damage?

Answer:
The main differences between the Dundee and the Dundee 2.0 is the use of the Butyl infused leather sole and the addition of a Poron foam insole for additional comfort. While there are no plans at this time to offer the Poron insole on the Dundee in Shell Cordovan, this style is eligible to be ordered with a custom sole. To learn more about the special order program, please feel free to contact our customer assistance center directly at cacmail@allenedmonds.com or 1-800-235-2348 (Mon-Fri 7:00AM-6PM CST).

3 pairs of eyelets are generally suitable for bar lacing, as these are shown. How does everyone lace and tie these?

Answer:
The Dundee is laced this way only for display purposes. However, you can achieve a similar look by following these steps:

- Begin straight across on the outside and in through the bottom eyelets. Adjust so that the left end is slightly longer than the right end.
- The left end crosses diagonally on the inside to the middle eyelet on the right side, then straight across on the outside to the middle eyelet on the left side.
- The right end crosses diagonally on the inside to the top eyelet on the left side.
- Finally the left end crosses diagonally on the inside to the top eyelet on the right side.

I wear an 8.5D in the 5 last (Park/Fifth Ave), but I wear a 9D in the Wilbert (1 last), which is the same last as the Dundee. But, I've read that the Dundee is roomier in the toe than the Wilbert, so I'm leaning toward 8.5D in the Dundee. I would appreciate any advice.

Answer:
Typically the same size ordered for shoes made on the same last. However, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape. The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

I would get the 9D. The toe on this boot tends to taper a bit. I have wide feet and find the wider width feels better.

Hi,

I am an 8D in the Strand. The fit of the Strand for me is close to perfect. My right foot is smaller than my left and I feel no pressure whatesoever. My left pinky ever so slightly touches the side of the shoe. But not irritating or painful at all. If I push my feet forward, it does have space to move. But when I walk, there is no heel slippage. So the space I feel is good because it protects my toes from hitting the front of the shoe. So again, I think the 8D is perfect for me in the Strand last.

But in a Brannock device, my left foot measure 8.5 (my right is closer to 8). I am borderline C and D. And for all it's worth, I have flat feet. So very low instep space. I've not really fitted any AE shoe other than the Strand.

I am interested in getting a Dundee. What would be my size?

Thanks,

Bill

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The Cordovan Dundee is constructed on our 1-Last (511), which is similar to the 7-Last from heel to ball in that it is the best fit for the average fit, but has a more rounded, fuller fitting toe. Meanwhile, the Strand is manufactured on our 5-Last (65) which is the longest in length of our lasts, and best for a long, narrow foot. By selecting shoes manufactured on the same last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit.

Typically the same size and last can be ordered in all of our shoes.

Lovely 25% less toxic waste NJ
I absolutely love shell cordovan, but haven't owned any for several years since my last two knee surgeries. I can't have leather soles and heels any more, the little bit of risk of slipping with a leather sole is more than I've been told I could get through without more damage, and more work on my knees.

Could I buy a pair of these, or other shell cordovan shoes, and send them to AE right away to have slip-resistant soles and heels replace the leather soles? Which shell cordovan styles would that be restricted to? What would the cost be?

I was in the same boat as you. I found the leather soles way too slick and I stopped wearing them.

I found out AE was offering the Dainite sole as a replacement and tried it.

Fantastic. During the year end sale recently a store rep told me I could order the Dundee with the Dainite sole without an upcharge and at the sale price. Since I had yet to take delivery on my re-soled shoes, I passed, but I will do it this year.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The Dundee style is defined as a chukka boot, meaning it sits at about ankle-high. Meanwhile, the Dalton is considered an above-the-ankle boot style. Shoe height will vary depending on the size and width of a shoe; however, these variations will be fairly insignificant.

For the Cordovan Dundee in a size 10.5 E, the shoe height from the inner sole to the top of the upper will measure to be around 4-3/4 inches tall.

Answer:
On me, the cordovan Dundee sits a little above my ankles. I own pair of Bayfields which may have shafts similar to the Dalton's and are fully lined in leather. The fit of the Dundee is adjustable--three eyelet blutcher style-- enough for my needs.
