Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

When caring for your calfskin, use Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Premium Shoe Polish with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry.

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 39 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by One of the most comfortable pair of shoe I own Good looking shoes, perfect fit except for the hill ankle area getting a wavy shape/look. I was told by the store manager that this is normal ?? Never had this happen with Alden, Church or Rossetti. Theses shoes are very comfortable, the wavy part don't really show as they are covered by the pants, they are well made. September 22, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love these. Very comfortable, easy break-in too! I really like this sole. I liked them so much, I Bought another pair. Hopefully AE will add more of these soles as "standard" to their shoe lineup. I will certainly be a buyer if they do. August 23, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love the style I purchased the walnut color. Its style and color are perfect to complement both suit and casual attire. I also have the Fifth Avenue in black. I have not worn either much, yet, but the comfort of walking is quite acceptable. July 16, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by The great I have had these shoes for a little over a month now but so far they have been amazing. I primarily wear them every Subday to church, meaning I have not broke them in quit yet. This is my second pair of Allen Edmunds and I can assure you that Allen Edmunds are the only way to go when it comes to a dress shoe.... All the way from the quality to the customer service, they exceed all other competition. If your looking for a well built, good looking shoe the Fifth Avenue rubber sole is great! July 16, 2016

How durable are the soles? I oversee operations for multiple facilities and I am constantly out of the office on the floor (concrete).

Answer:
The answer depends a lot on the type of use such as weather conditions and commute lengths. However, the Dainite soles are made with a dense rubber and therefore will likely last longer than leather soles. We still recommend rotating shoe styles daily and storing shoes with authentic cedar shoe trees. This will help extend the life of both the sole and the shoe by allowing shoes to breath and the cedar absorbs moisture and maintains the shoe shape.

This style is also eligible for our Recrafting services so you can send them in for sole replacements once the soles are worn down.

Answer:
The heel height of our shoes is approximately 1/2" from the bottom of the sole to the bottom of the heel. There may be some variations between sole styles and top-lifts used, but should be no more than a couple millimeters in difference which is relatively insignificant.

If you have any concerns about the pair you received, please contact the customer assistance center directly with your order information at 1-877-817-7615 so we can better assist you.

Listed are shoe conditioner cleaner and shoe polish. Do you not want to use shoe conditioner? Usually I assume that you want to use the cleaner to strip the leftover remains of last session. Then I use conditioner, plus cream if needed for recoloring. Finally I add polish to add shine.

Answer:
Typically, we find that Cleaner Conditioner is not absolutely necessary each time you polish the shoes, however it is helpful every once in a while when you need to remove excess dirt or polish off the leather. You can also use Leather Lotion instead of Cleaner Conditioner before polishing. Cleaner conditioner is essentially a mix of mostly soap with lotion, and the leather lotion is essentially more lotion with a small amount of soap. The process you follow is not uncommon and sounds like you are taking good care of your shoes.

Ultimately, each individual’s shoe care regimen is quite personal, so you may follow any process you wish as long as you test it to ensure you get your desired results.

Answer:
Allen Edmonds shoes generally weigh between 3 and 4 lbs. when shipped. Shoe weight will vary depending on the size and width of a shoe; however, these variations will be fairly insignificant.

I wear a 10D in the McCallister yet a 9.5D in the Delray and StrandMoc. Should I stay with the size I wear based on the same last? Any recommendation?

Answer:
I recommend choosing the same size as the McAllister. I have the same size in Fifth Ave with Dainite sole and McAllister with V-tread sole; both are comfortable.

Answer:
The Fifth Avenue and the McAllister are constructed on the same 65 last and the leathers and construction are more comparable. We recommend trying the size you have in the McAllister.
