Overview

From the tolling of the bells that open and close a day of trading at the nexus of LaSalle and Jackson Streets, the action on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade never ever stops. Cleverness and great instincts are requirements to be effective in the pit, but success also requires the nimble footwork that only a pair of comfortable shoes like the LaSalle, with their padded, leather wrapped comfort insoles, can provide. Don't worry if you have to go from trading to the office and then to a client dinner at Gibson's Steakhouse in the Gold Coast, because thanks to the traditional Algonquin toe and raised stitching detail in the heel, with this blucher you won't be sacrificing any style for comfort. And that's a promise you can take to the bank.

Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

When caring for your calfskin, use Allen Edmonds Conditioner Cleaner to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Premium Shoe Polish with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by 69 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Nice shoe but very narrow I like how this shoe looks but the last/ fit is very narrow. I can no longer wear my shoes because they are too tight. High quality but would only recommend for narrow foot. December 28, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Somewhat Disappointed with Quality control I bought my first pair of Allen Edmonds in the 80's and since then have worn no other manufacturer's shoes. I currently own fourteen pairs of Allen Edmond shoes and, in my legal career, have confidently worn them in federal courthouses from Los Angeles to New York. With even moderate care Allen Edmonds shoes last forever and continue to look good for years. Recently, however, I purchased a pair of LaSalle shoes in chili color. They are one of the best looking pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes that I have ever owned. But I didn't realize until later, when I was out in natural light, that the color of the shoes was clearly mismatched. In the "old days" this sort of defect would have been caught by Allen Edmonds quality control and the shoes would have been relegated to a factory seconds store. Also, as another reviewer pointed out, the LaSalles are built on a very narrow last and you should take that into consideration if you are considering buying these shoes. Other shoe manufacturers have fallen out of favor because they allowed their attention to quality and craftsmanship falter. I hope that is not the case with Allen Edmonds because I have been able to rely on their shoes for decades. December 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by My first AE's & I'm now a customer for life! I bought a pair of LaSalle's in Bourbon about a year and a half ago. This color is not normally available for the LaSalle, but they were doing a limited run of them, so I grabbed them on sale in this special color. Since I don't have a local AE store, I printed off the sizing guide and measured my own feet. My feet are a little wide, but not huge. In cheaper shoes I'm usually a 13 wide. According to the sizing guide though, I was a 12 somewhere between D & E. So, I rounded up and ordered these in a 12E. I could not be happier!! First, the shoes lived up to the hype regarding AE quality and finish. They were beautiful and reeked of quality! I am so tired of spending $100-150 on shoes only to have them fall apart within a year or two. So, I decided that was it... I'm spending more on my shoes, but less frequently. I'm so glad I did! A year and a half in and they still look nearly brand new. The color is beautiful too! I know other AE's are available in bourbon, but I'm glad I got my LaSalle's in that color while it was available. I have since purchased a pair of Delray's which are also top quality. And with the Rediscover America sale that's going on right now, I just ordered (haven't received yet) a pair of McAllister's in Merlot and also a pair of Long Branch boots. I am a customer for life now, and it all started with my first pair of LaSalle's! October 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by A quality well fitting shoe I could not get my size (11 1/2 B at the large shoe store which stocks allenedmonds. Narrow widths are a problem for those of us with longer narrow feet. I went on line and called the factory and I had my shoes in less than a week. I am very happy.j August 9, 2015

Answer:
Allen Edmonds shoes are handcrafted using leather which is a naturally breathable material; we recommend any of our styles that are made of 100% leather uppers and leather soles, as opposed to rubber soles. You can search by these styles by clicking the 'SHOES' link and then choosing 'Leather Sole Shoes' under the 'Soles' filter on the left-hand side of the page. Some great examples include the Park Avenue, the Strand, or the Carlyle.

The Lasalle is a longer, narrower shape than the Hancock, so I'm wondering if I would need an "E" Width on the Lasalle vs the "D" Width on the Hancock?

Answer:
The LaSalle is constructed on the 108 last which has an elongated forepart with a tapered and flatter toe. The Hancock has a different fit because it was constructed on the 97 which is the best fit for the average foot and it has a soft, slightly pointed toe. By selecting shoes manufactured on the last that most resembles the contours of your feet, you will achieve a superior fit, only enhancing the comfort of your shoes.

The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

Yes, the LaSalle and the Clifton are both constructed on the same 108 last, so as a result these two styles will feature a similar fit.

Answer:
The LaSalle style is manufactured on our 8-Last (108) which features an elongated forepart with a tapered and flatter toe. It is similar to the 222 last with a longer, narrower fit and a rounded toe. By selecting shoes manufactured on the same last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit. However, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape.

The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. LaSalle Dress Shoes

Almost satisfied customer
Washington, D.C.
I recently bought two pairs of this shoe. One of the pairs creaks very loudly - it seems (I'm not completely sure) that the tongue's friction against the leather it fits under causes the sound. The other pair is fine.

I thought the creaking would go away as the shoes got broken in. After a couple of weeks, however, the shoes are more comfortable, but the creaking is as loud as ever.

I have to consider this problem a defect, especially since my job involves lots of quiet meetings where the mere shifting of my feet in these shoes causes a lot of distraction.

Can the problem be fixed? Can I exchange the defective pair, even though I've worn them quite a bit in the last two or three weeks?

Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The “squeaking” noise in a premium leather shoe is normally caused by two types of leather in the shoe’s construction rubbing together. For example, the outer leather on top of the LaSalle’s tongue rubbing against the leather lining on the underside of the shoe’s eyestays. This noise does not indicate a problem with the construction of the shoe; it is natural for two types of leathers which are layered upon one another to make noise. Applying a talcum powder can help to reduce this.

If you are unhappy with your recent purchase, please feel free to contact our customer service center at cacmail@allenedmonds.com or 1-800-235-2348 (Mon-Fri 7:00AM-6PM CST); they can help better identify what issues you are having with this style.

We recommend wearing our Chili Burnished Calf styles like you would normally wear a solid tone brown or tan shoe. It can be paired with a brown suit, light gray, navy, or jeans. What’s great about our Chili Burnished Calf is it can give even the most formal of shoes a more casual look.

Ultimately, what each individual chooses is their own decision; we encourage customers to purchase and wear what they feel most comfortable in.

LaSalle Dress Shoes

Los Angeles, CA
Hello,

I purchased my first pair of LaSalle size 7.5D. I was very excited to wear my new shoes but after a long day my feet hurt. I feel like the front part of the shoe is narrower and that could be why me feet hurt. I would like to replace these with a new pair but I am afraid I will have the same problem. Does other models such as: Hancock, Clifton, Delray, and 5th Avenue use the same sole (dimension/width) on the front part of the shoe?

Thank you.

Just bought a pair of Lasalle's in the chili color, and really love them so far. However, one of the unique points of style for this shoe are the sole edges. How does one properly care for this surface and retain this unique appearance?

Answer:
Good: Neutral shoe polish
Better: Leather conditioner and neutral shoe polish
Best: Occasional leather conditioner and Natural Edge Dressing

If they take a bad scrape, I'd use a little chili or lighter polish to fill in the color then treat with the edge dressing.
