Overview

That's right. The shoe for the man who knows that power and responsibility are not mutually exclusive but instead inextricably joined has been updated. By lifting the upper we’ve not only made the iconic long wing more prominent, we’ve also balanced the shoe’s strong demeanor with a durable oil-infused Double Butyl outsole. While the traditional brogueing highlights the time-honored handcrafting that goes into these bluchers, the cushioned Poron insole and contrast tan lining give them a youthful presence that allows them to be worn on your commute, at your job and on the town without missing a beat.

Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

When caring for your calfskin, use Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Premium Shoe Polish with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry.

Reviews
Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 8 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great shoe, but prefer the original Out of all AE shoes, the Macneil is my go-to work shoe. I own four pairs of the original. The blucher construction fits far better than any balmoral for my crazy high instep while the shape of the last just seems to accomodate my foot after break-in. The double leather sole adds much comfort when you are on your feet all day. I wish the instep were higher but that's personal preference. I do think that the new Macneil 2.0s are a step DOWN in quality when compared to the original Macneil. I don't like the new raw unfinished edges on the leathers. On the plus side, the 2.0 breaks in much more quicky (after about five wearings) whereas the original took a good thirty days of wearing before the cork footbed molded to fit perfectly 'like a pair of old shoes'. It seems as if buyers want instant gratification. Maybe instant gratification may reduce the return rate for Allen Edmonds. I definitely prefer the comfort of the old cork footbed over the new Poron, and I would happily endure a few weeks of pressure points on my sole to eventually get my perfect fit. This is still a great shoe. But it's not as great as it used to be. The Dainite rubber sole on this version provides great traction, and this turns out to be my wet-weather work shoe. On dry days, I prefer old-fashioned leather soles. July 13, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Shoes The Macneil was my first AE shoe purchase. Since then I have also purchased a pair of Strands and a pair of Cornwallis. The Macneils are great, I love them. I've been wearing them for about a year, a few times a week. They still look like brand new. Very comfortable. I got them fairly dirty over the past weekend and polished them for the first time yesterday, and they look as good as they did out of the box when they were new. The leather soles are loud on hard floors. I got Danite souls on my Strands and the Danite soles are more quiet and flexible giving a more comfortable feel. Good shoes, I'm glad I bought them. I like them a lot. I would recommend. June 24, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Comfort and Class I don't buy "high-end" shoes a lot. In fact, this is the first time I ever did. But I love shoes and I was bent on buying a good pair for myself this time. I shopped around pretty methodically and over several months, trying on quality shoes from all the usual big names (which I won't name here--they make great shoes too, after all). But I settled after a lot of trial and error on these Allen Edmonds and I cannot be happier. They're beautiful shoes--comfortable to wear all day while I'm on my feet (I am a teacher) and classy-looking. They have such great "substance." So now I've told my wife that this is the start of my "collection." She's taken to calling me Imelda. June 24, 2016

Answer:
Yes, you may use the Dark Brown Premium Shoe Polish on the Brown Country Grain leather. We suggest applying a small amount in an inconspicuous area to see if you like the result as it may appear slightly darker, however the difference is typically insignificant. Alternately, you can also use the Neutral Premium Shoe Polish.

Is the sole still considered a double sole? The pictures looks like it is the same thickness of the sole of a butyl leather Macneil 2.0.

Answer:
It's not a double sole, but we use a 2 iron leather midsole, so it's pretty close to the thickness of the Butyl Double Sole.

Answer:
Allen Edmonds shoes are constructed on a wide variety of lasts (foot molds) and each will feature unique fit characteristics. It is difficult to recommend a size through this channel and guarantee a proper fit because each last will fit differently based on the contours of your feet, and particularly difficult when switching from sneakers to dress shoes due to their unique constructions.

It is vitally important to visit an Allen Edmonds retail store or retail partner for a professional fitting to increase your chances of being fit correctly for each last and style. Please use the 'Store Locator' to find stores near you. However, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoes in returnable condition.
