Overview
Is there anything more all-American than the penny loafer? How about one made right here in the U.S.A.? We didn't think so. That's why we named this new model the Patriot. A faithful interpretation of this timeless design, the Patriot honors our legacy of craftsmanship and classic American style like no other shoe on the market. Of course, there is always a little room for improvement, which is why we designed a brand new last - the 606 - especially for these shoes. Roomier in the forefoot but also featuring our trademark narrow heel (perfect for those who forgo socks), this last has helped us create our best fitting penny loafer ever. As if that's not enough, the Patriot is also featured in Genuine Horween® Shell Cordovan leather with an exclusive black, burgundy, and brown finish burnished to rich perfection. The consummate country club shoe, the Patriot is sure to become our next American classic.
Allen Edmonds Shoe Care
Cordovan leather requires different care than calfskin due to its different properties. To remove any natural oils or residue in areas where the shoe flexes, and to maintain the leather's quality, simply brush the leather with a horsehair shine brush or wipe with a cotton flannel polishing cloth. Polish occasionally with Allen Edmonds Cordovan Care Cream to protect the leather and maintain its rich color.

I am a 10.5 EEE. I bought these shoes and wore them hoping for a quick break in/. No such luck.l The last seems to be a little small and I developed a huge blister on the back of my left heel. I need to get the shoes stretched before I wear them again. I was disppointed because I own a lot of AE shoes and this is the first pair that did not fit well.

I have a narrow heel and low instep, and this shoe fits perfectly. None of the other penny loafers I tried would work. I'm so happy I finally found a pair that fits!

I already owned 2 pairs of Patriots, one in calf the other in shell cordovan and was quite happy with them.
I decided to order a second pair in shell cordovan, the pair of shoes that arrived did not have the heel pads installed, just bare unmarked leather insoles. Clearly, the heel pads were forgotten during the manufacturing process. Shoes were returned.

The Patriot penny loafer is a classic, elegant style. I am very happy with the quality of the materials and craftsmanship. They feel slightly too narrow at the tongue for my usual size D width however, they are not uncomfortable. I expect they will stretch as I break them in.

Thank you for your inquiry. We recommend using the Dark Brown Premium Shoe Polish for your Patriot Penny Loafers in Brown Burnished Calf. Prior to polishing, we do recommend using our Conditioner Cleaner to prepare the leather for polishing. They are the same model, made with different materials. The Patriot is constructed on the 606 last which has a broad, flat toe providing a roomier forepart. The instep transition and cone rise is farther back than a typical Allen Edmonds last. The Presidio was constructed on the 222 last which has an elongated toe with a slightly higher instep and a more narrow fit in the forefoot creating a sleek silhouette and rounded European look. The Cole was constructed on the discontinued 456 last which had a very wide rounded toe. Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.The Patriot style was not designed with an orthotic fit in mind and so it does not feature a removable insole. The styles that feature removable insoles are those that are part of the Orthotic Collection and Jack Nicklaus Collection; as well as the Voyager style.
Keep in mind, however, that if the shoe is fit large enough, these inserts can be used in almost any of our shoes.

Keep in mind, the best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.
