Overview

These loafers are the perfect traveling companion, so long as you don't stick a penny in the saddle (a no-no sure to draw the ire of both the fashion police and TSA). Not only will the slip-on loafer design help you get through airport security with minimal hassle, but the versatility inherent in the extended profile, single oak sole and raised stitching on the moccasin toe, means that this one shoe can cover all the events - work and play - that go along with an important business trip or just a busy home life. The Shell Cordovan styles feature Reddenbach single oak leather soles and dovetail toplifts for an even more sophisticated look. Whichever style you choose and no matter where you are, with the Randolph on your feet, you'll feel at home anywhere.

Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

When caring for your calfskin, use Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Premium Shoe Polish with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Loafers Third pair of these. Every one gets resoled twice before the uppers are too beat up to be usable. Great shoe. September 10, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by This is with out a doubt the best feeling leather I have ever worn. The shoe fit is a little different but I am happy, I used to buy only ColeHaans.; I own five pairs. But I can reach costumer support about a problem. I tried calling and emailing and over 8 months and 4 tries I did not get one response from Colehaans so I decide to try Allen Edmonds so far I am extremely happy. MADE IN USA is why decided to try Allen Edmond's. July 20, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Shoe I've had these shoes for number of years, and wear them almost exclusively. The Cordovan is, by far, the best leather I've ever had on shoes. I recently started wearing a pair I ordered about a year ago, and my only disappointment is that they don't come in the same thick soles that they used to. Those shoes had a nice substantial feel to them that I really enjoyed. August 29, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by First Bad Experience with Allen Edmonds It pains me to write this review, but I want to help others avoid my mistake. I own seven pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes (all different styles), and have recrafted two of those pairs at least once. Some pairs I have purchased online, and others I have purchased through a store. In all cases my size has been a consistent 14 D. I ordered a pair of the Randolph Penny Loafers during a sale event. I travel for work and thought the loafer with the v-tread sole would be a great shoe for me. Unfortunately, the fit on this shoe was just wrong. I ordered the same size I have for all other Allen Edmonds shoes in my closet. The right and left shoes are both too big. They hurt my feet and because I ordered a custom sole I cannot return them. I expected something more from a brand that I have always trusted. My caution is that a potential buyer should not assume consistency across styles. I wear the same size shoe no matter the brand or style. Allen Edmonds messed this one up, so just be aware when buying your shoes online or buying a custom sole. July 13, 2016

In the Randolph details bullets one says that it is crafted on the 79 last, and right next to that is a "All about Lasts" link that takes me to a page without a description for the 79 last. Is that supposed to say 97?

Answer:
The Randolph last is currently not listed on the website. We apologize for the inconvenience. This is the description:

The 79 last has a tapered back portion which allows for lower, shorter vamp designs creating a low fit across the top of the foot.

I am looking for a black Penny that is NOT corrected grain. I always worry about the premature creasing that occurs with coated/corrected grain shoes.

Answer:
Allen Edmonds shoes are constructed on a wide variety of lasts (foot molds) and each will feature unique fit characteristics. The Park Avenue is constructed on the 65 Last which is elongated with a narrow fit. The Randolph is constructed on the 79 last which has a tapered back portion which allows for lower, shorter vamp designs creating a low fit across the top of the foot.

It is difficult to recommend a size through this channel and guarantee a proper fit because each last will fit differently based on the contours of your feet. It is vitally important to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores or retail partners to increase your chances of being fit correctly for each last and style. However, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoes in returnable condition.

If it is substantially different, how did you decide to use burgundy for loafers and the other colors for lace ups?

Answer:
The Burgundy colors we offer have all distinctly different finishes, our Product Development team determines which colors to use based on which finish would fit a particular style best as well as customer feedback. At this time, we have styles in Burgundy, Merlot, Oxblood, Burgundy Gentry, and Burgundy Cordovan.

Burgundy (Randolph):
A dark burgundy finish that contains highlights finished into the leather using the burnishing process. This is one of the darkest burgundy colors available.

Merlot (McAllister): this is also a burnished finish, but it is intended to have a lighter wine color to the leather. Depth to the finish is created through the burnishing process. While it’s lighter than Burgundy, it has more depth to the color.

Oxblood (Carlyle): Our newest burgundy shade and the lightest of the burgundy colors. It been described as a burnished cherry color.

Burgundy Gentry (Kenwood):
Gentry leather is a semi-polished calf. It has a smooth shiny finish from the tannery yet is fairly mono-tone… it contains very little in the way of highlights.

Burgundy Cordovan (Park Avenue):
Also called Black Cherry Shell Cordovan, it is a semi-glossy, smooth leather from the hide of a horse. Cordovan leather gets better and better looking with age. Over time, with proper care, the hide will obtain a very deep luster and patina.

We hope this information helps, please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

Answer:
There Randolph in calfskin and the one in Shell Cordovan are constructed on the same last so the fit will be the same and we recommend trying the same size. Keep in mind, however that the feel of the shoe will be a bit different since Cordovan is a thicker more durable leather, while the calfskin is much softer.

I own a patriot 11.5D and it took forever to finally stretch at the toe width to my right foot which is a bit bigger (the 12D was way too big). I was thinking to try the randolph in a 11.5D...do you think that will work? According to the size charts im an 11.5D. How do you think the randolph would fit based on my patriots?

I usually wear a 9 EEE in most shoes, but the Randolph 81/2 EEE was a much better fit, even with socks. You might consider going 11.5 with a wider width??

Answer:
The Patriot style is constructed on the 606 last which has a broad, flat toe providing a roomier forepart. The instep transition and cone rise is farther back than a typical Allen Edmonds last. The Randolph style, on the other hand, is constructed on the 79 last which has a tapered back portion which allows for lower, shorter vamp designs creating a low fit across the top of the foot. By selecting shoes manufactured on the last that most resembles the contours of your feet, you will achieve a superior fit, only enhancing the comfort of your shoes.each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape; as a result, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape.

The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.
