Overview

These loafers are the perfect traveling companion, so long as you don't stick a penny in the saddle (a no-no sure to draw the ire of both the fashion police and TSA). Not only will the slip-on loafer design help you get through airport security with minimal hassle, but the versatility inherent in the extended profile, single oak sole and raised stitching on the moccasin toe, means that this one shoe can cover all the events - work and play - that go along with an important business trip or just a busy home life. The Shell Cordovan styles feature Reddenbach single oak leather soles and dovetail toplifts for an even more sophisticated look. Whichever style you choose and no matter where you are, with the Randolph on your feet, you'll feel at home anywhere.

Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

When caring for your calfskin, use Allen Edmonds Conditioner Cleaner to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Premium Shoe Polish with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry.

Reviews
Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 104 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by A classic The best penny loafer I own. The shell cordovan is defiently worth the price since these shoes will last a lifetime. Looking to pick Up a pair in black as well. September 4, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Shoes Big fan of Allen Edmonds shoes and these didn't disappoint. Great quality for the money and a welcomed addition to my growing AE shoe collection. July 15, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Quality not what I expect from AE I've exclusively worn AE dress shoes for the past 20 years and have a pair of Park Avenue that are 14 years old and still look great. However the quality of shoes produced over the past 4-5 years has gone down, while the cost has continued to go up. If you are OK with a factory second, then the price to quality is on par. I originally ordered the Randolph in Bourbon and received an inconsistently matched pair of shoes; the right shoe was more yellow and streaking was very visible on the left shoe. After further evaluation of the Bourbon shade and comments made by others, I chose to try a darker color (Burgundy) for consistency in the finish and to still universally coordinate with my clothing. The second pair I received, the color was very well matched; however, the sole on the right shoe was cut differently than the left. Plus the top stitching was sloppy (a common comment made in other reviews). As a long standing and loyal customer, I thought I would give AE another chance. Well that only turned to frustration when I received a third pair with a rough, unfinished edge dressing on the right shoe and with stitching outside the channel on the sole. I've returned all three pair and decided to give another established and regarded shoe brand a try ( at a similar price point $300-$500). As a brand advocate for 20 years, that was not an easy decision. July 11, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 Quality AE are the best value in shoes that exists today. Period. Full stop. June 22, 2015

Answer:
Allen Edmonds shoes are constructed on a wide variety of lasts (foot molds) and each will feature unique fit characteristics. The Park Avenue is constructed on the 65 Last which is elongated with a narrow fit. The Randolph is constructed on the 79 last which has a tapered back portion which allows for lower, shorter vamp designs creating a low fit across the top of the foot.

It is difficult to recommend a size through this channel and guarantee a proper fit because each last will fit differently based on the contours of your feet. It is vitally important to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores or retail partners to increase your chances of being fit correctly for each last and style. However, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoes in returnable condition.

If it is substantially different, how did you decide to use burgundy for loafers and the other colors for lace ups?

Answer:
The Burgundy colors we offer have all distinctly different finishes, our Product Development team determines which colors to use based on which finish would fit a particular style best as well as customer feedback. At this time, we have styles in Burgundy, Merlot, Oxblood, Burgundy Gentry, and Burgundy Cordovan.

Burgundy (Randolph):
A dark burgundy finish that contains highlights finished into the leather using the burnishing process. This is one of the darkest burgundy colors available.

Merlot (McAllister): this is also a burnished finish, but it is intended to have a lighter wine color to the leather. Depth to the finish is created through the burnishing process. While it’s lighter than Burgundy, it has more depth to the color.

Oxblood (Carlyle): Our newest burgundy shade and the lightest of the burgundy colors. It been described as a burnished cherry color.

Burgundy Gentry (Kenwood):
Gentry leather is a semi-polished calf. It has a smooth shiny finish from the tannery yet is fairly mono-tone… it contains very little in the way of highlights.

Burgundy Cordovan (Park Avenue):
Also called Black Cherry Shell Cordovan, it is a semi-glossy, smooth leather from the hide of a horse. Cordovan leather gets better and better looking with age. Over time, with proper care, the hide will obtain a very deep luster and patina.

There Randolph in calfskin and the one in Shell Cordovan are constructed on the same last so the fit will be the same and we recommend trying the same size. Keep in mind, however that the feel of the shoe will be a bit different since Cordovan is a thicker more durable leather, while the calfskin is much softer.

I own a patriot 11.5D and it took forever to finally stretch at the toe width to my right foot which is a bit bigger (the 12D was way too big). I was thinking to try the randolph in a 11.5D...do you think that will work? According to the size charts im an 11.5D. How do you think the randolph would fit based on my patriots?

Answer:
The Patriot style is constructed on the 606 last which has a broad, flat toe providing a roomier forepart. The instep transition and cone rise is farther back than a typical Allen Edmonds last. The Randolph style, on the other hand, is constructed on the 79 last which has a tapered back portion which allows for lower, shorter vamp designs creating a low fit across the top of the foot. By selecting shoes manufactured on the last that most resembles the contours of your feet, you will achieve a superior fit, only enhancing the comfort of your shoes.each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape; as a result, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

The LaSalle style is manufactured on our 8-Last (108) which features an elongated forepart with a tapered and flatter toe. The Randolph is manufactured on our 9-Last (79) which has a tapered back portion that pushes the foot forward to fit low across the top of the foot rather than the instep. By selecting shoes manufactured on the same last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit. However, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape.
