Overview

When Izaak Walton was penning The Compleat Angler over 350 years ago, he didn't only decide to write about fishing, but also to include a little bit of philosophy, poetry, politics and humor so that his work would have universal appeal. Some three centuries later, when we were designing the writer's namesake shoe, we too decided to include something for everyone. For the businessman looking for versatility and formality, the five-eyelet blucher design is as classic as it gets. For those that like more pronounced design elements, this model features an elaborate Algonquin-toe and a well-defined top plug created with intricate stitching. And for the man that is on his feet all day and needs to be confident that his shoe can withstand everything that is thrown at it, the Walton is not only built on the 3-Last to give you a roomier fit, but also has a double oak sole and a split reverse welt to ensure you'll have protection from the elements. Whether you choose the Walton for one of these reason or all three, you can be sure it will make almost any outfit you wear with it feel complete.

Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

When caring for your calfskin, use Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Premium Shoe Polish with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry.

Reviews
Walton Dress Shoes is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 145.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Please bring out the Walton in Oxblood, Brown, and Walnut This is a great shoe. I have it in black and the "regular" Chili. AE needs to bring out this shoe in more colors. Either that, or expand the leathers offered for the Bradley -- preferably both. As of late, AE's line has discontinued and thinned out the classics for trendy, seasonal, short-term offerings. Variety and Innovation are great, but not at the expense of the tried and true and perennial. I that hope the recent re-introduction of the original MacNeil and Leeds signal a change in philosophy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Some of the interior leather appears to have not been trimmed and it hangs outside top offshore. Hope AE can fix in a store as I don't want hassle Hope a retail AE store can fix the interior leather that over hangs exterior. Would have thought this would have been caught before they sent to me.

Ask & Answer

When will you bring Chili color back to Walton?

That was my first pair and the most favorite one. Had 2 pair of Walton Chili and Black and Park Ave. For the last 2 years trying to replace Chili Walton with no luck.
Asked by: Anonymous
Thanks for your inquiry. There are no immediate plans at this time to reintroduce the Walton in Chili. We recommend taking a look at the Delray style, it's similar and available in Dark Chili. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

Which shoe has more toe box room, walton, ashton or delray?

Which shoe has more toe box room? Ashton, walton or delray. Can we put in orthotics into the walton or delray?
Asked by: Anonymous
I own the Delray and Walton both in a D width. The Walton definitely has more room in the toe box. It is very comfortable. I do like the Delray but it is tighter in the toe box area. Can't comment on the Ashton or the orthotics questions.

Can the Walton insole be removed to allow for an Orthopaedic insert?

Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your inquiry. We do not recommend removing the insoles of our shoes as that will damage the shoes beyond repair.

I wear an 11E in the Park Avenue...but don't have a wide foot. How does the fit of the Walton compare to the PA? Thank you.

Asked by: Anonymous
I find the Walton to be roomier yet still hug my foot. I wear a 10 1/2 D and for days when I am on my feet at work for prolonged periods of time, I prefer the Walton to my Park Ave's.

Does AE have any plans to offer more colors in the Walton?

AE has recently added new colors for many of its classics shoes, such as the Park Avenue, Leeds, Ashton, and McNeil. Are there any plans to do likewise with the Walton? If not, can additional colors be obtained on a special-order basis?
Asked by: Anonymous
At this time there are no plans to offer the Walton in different colors other than what it’s currently available online. We recommend checking out the Ashton which is similar in style, and it’s offered in 4 different leathers. Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

Comparison of 73 vs. 108 last?

I am very comfortable in a la salle (108 last) with a 10.5 D. Do you think that this would translate faithfully to a 10.5 D in a Walton (73 last)?
Asked by: Anonymous
As an owner of Walton’s and both Clark Street and Delray my answer is the shoes fit very differently. First, I own all three pairs in the same size. Walton’s I believe are purposely wider at the toe and ball area. Clark Street and Delray are specifically designed on a longer and more streamlined last. Moreover, the leather in Delray is split or skived thinner than Clark Street, but about the same thickness as Walton. Also Clark Street’s fit tighter in the toe and ball area and are slightly uncomfortable where Delray’s fit just fine. Ashton’s feel closer to the feel of Walton’s.

which is better for a wider foot ... Leeds or Walton?

my foot splays out, making my left foot feel like i am hitting the front of the shoe. I'm measuring a 9.5 D, yet the D feels tight. The E leaves too much room in the ankle, so it feels like the shoe will come off. What should I do?
Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds. The Walton is manufactured on our 3-Last (73) while the Leeds is manufactured on our 1-Last (511). The 3-Last is wider across the ball of the foot with more room over the instep of the shoe. Meanwhile, the 1-Last (511) which is best fit for the average foot and has a rounded fuller fitting toe. By selecting shoes manufactured on the same last that most resembles the contours of one’s feet, customers will achieve a superior fit. Typically the same size and last can be ordered in all of our shoes. However, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape. The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition. Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions. Similar fit to Easton or Kennett

Hi I have the Easton and the Kennett in a 10B. They are an exact fit in the width, i.e., I couldn't wear a thick sock with them but a dress sock fits fine. Can I expect a similar fit--especially in the width--from the Walton? Thank you
Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds. The Easton is manufactured on our 0-Last (000), while the Kennett is manufactured on our 4-Last (234) and the Walton on our 3-Last (73). The 0-Last features a sleek silhouette due to a more pronounced cone and elongated forepart with a subtly clipped toe; our 4-Last is fairly similar to the 7-Last in that it is the best fit for the average foot, but has a slightly more squared toe; finally, the 3-Last is wider across the ball of the foot with more room over the instep of the shoe. By selecting shoes manufactured on the last that most resembles the contours of one’s fee, customers will achieve a superior fit. Typically the same size can be ordered in all of our shoes.
