Overview

The literal translation of Delray is "of the king", a fitting moniker given how our loyal Allen Edmonds customer has pledged his allegiance to this model, making it a top-seller year in and year out. Part of its appeal is based on the dramatic interplay between the tapered split toe and the plug overlay, two unique features rarely found on a quality dress shoe. This five-eyelet blucher is further set apart from our other formal styles because it is designed on the 8-Last to give it an elongated forepart that corresponds well with all manner of professional attire. Whether your daily outfit includes a suit or dress slacks, we assure you that the Delray will quickly become the crown jewel of your wardrobe.

A leather sole has a special feel and traditional look that can't be beat. But in certain inclement weather situations or for guys whose jobs involve lots of time on their feet, it can be good to have the traction and stability that only a rubber sole can add. So you don't have to choose between these two options, we decided to fuse them into the tap sole, a leather sole with V-tread rubber inserts on the forefoot and heel. Polished yet practical for the ultimate presence and performance, the tap sole will have you walking tall, and that's no song and dance.

Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

When caring for your calfskin, use Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Premium Shoe Polish with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wondering why the toe color is so much darker than the rest of the shoe. Your on line picture shows a consistent color heel to toe my toes are dark As indicated above color on toes very dark compared to rest of shoe. Looking at color on your web site shows a consistent color heel to toe

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shoe I like the look of the Delray. This is the second pair I have purchased to alternate with a pair of Park Avenues. I did buy them a little wider this time because this shoe feels narrow and when I recrafted my previous pair they felt even narrower. I would recommend getting one size wider if you plan on doing the same.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Quality Control Problem the one side leather of the shoe is too soft. It can't hold the contour. when I wear it, it doesn't fit my foot and looks loosely. but if I tense it, the leather will "make noise".

Why are my new shoes so squeaky?

Just bought a new pair of Delrays. however they are very squeaky. Why and what can be done?
Asked by: Anonymous
Lol, I had the exact same problem. The squeek will eventually diminish but if you don't want to wait, you can use baby powder on the part of the tongue that's covered by the leather (where the shoelaces are). This has worked for me. I have also read that you can try shoe polish in this area as well.

What other shoes do you make using the same last as the Delray?

Asked by: Anonymous
I have the LaSalle's that are made on the same last. They're awesome!! Look great and feel great! Your best bet for finding more shoes on this last though is to reference the last guide. You can find it here: http://www.allenedmonds.com/shoes-101/lasts.html

What is the difference between the Delray and the Walton?

Asked by: Anonymous
Both the Delray and the Walton are split-toe bluchers, but that's where their similarities end. They are made made on very different lasts. Also, the Delray has a single oak leather sole with a regular welt, whereas the Walton has a double oak leather sole with a split reverse welt (also called a "storm welt"). The result is that the Walton is a sturdy, "chunky" looking shoe, while the Delray is a long and elegant looking shoe. I own both styles and I like them both.

I notice the sole is not full leather. Can a full leather sole be selected for this shoe? What is advantage of the sole as shown? Thx

Asked by: Anonymous
A full leather sole can be quite slippery and lead to a fall when wet or even on a polished floor surface. The advantage of this type of sole is that it provides a great deal of grip for stability when walking on wet or polished surfaces.

Does this have a thick padded insole?

Since you quit making as many A widths. I am having a hard time finding AE shoes, which I love. I have a pair of AE Stockridge that have the thick padded insoles that are much to tight in the laces because of my high instep. Will the Delray be the same deal? Hurts to take hit on Ebay selling them used. What would be my best fit with AE, considering I have a 10.5A and a high instep. Leeds have worked great for the instep, but you no longer make them in A width. Thanks.
Asked by: Anonymous
The Delray style does not include the PORON cushioned insole like the Stockbridge style. However, keep in mind that each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape. The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, remember that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition. Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
