Overview

Why It's Great

Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, Museum of Modern Art, all call Fifth Avenue home. This famous thoroughfare is not only a historical landmark but a quintessential component of modern day living in the United States. New York City has been the financial capital of the world for hundreds of years, and Fifth Avenue is at the center of it all. With office buildings overrun by investment firms, banks and investors, our Fifth Avenue cap-toe oxford makes you ready for the action.

How It's Made

This classic six-eyelet lace-up balmoral made of our quality calfskin leather and handcrafted on our most popular 65 Last, is the shoe that knows the value of a good investment. It also has a little New York flair with the perforated brogue styling along the cap seam.

How to Wear It

Best worn with a suit or slacks, and finished off with our coordinating Manistee Belt, the Fifth Avenue man understands the importance of quality footwear, and isn’t afraid to show that he means business. There are always going to be new and trendy modern shoe styles, but it’s tough to go wrong with a classic that never goes out of style.

Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

When caring for your calfskin, use Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion to remove surface residue and to keep leather soft and pliable. To achieve a fine luster, wipe shoes with a damp cloth and allow them to air dry at room temperature. Then, apply a coat of Allen Edmonds Premium Shoe Polish with a cloth or horsehair dauber and allow to air dry.

Our new Dark Chili and Oxblood burnished leathers can be cleaned using a damp cloth to remove dirt and any residue. Follow by using a soft cloth to apply our Allen Edmonds Saddle Soap which cleans all smooth leather shoes while restoring the leather's natural oils.

Fifth Avenue Cap-toe Oxfords is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 581.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fifth, Walnut... amazing! I received these as a gift and they are amazing! It's the most comfortable pair of dress shoes I've ever worn. Highly, highly recommended!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fifth Ave, Dark Chili I've previously purchased the Lake Forest loafers in size 11.5 EEE. Great fit. However, I purchased the Fifth Avenue's in Dark Chili and they are a bit too snug around my instep (the top of my foot), causing slight pain. Funny thing is, when I first tried them on, they were great. The second and third time is when the pain in my instep started. Should I send these back even though I've worn them a few times?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent dress shoe for the value Received a pair of the dark chili as a gift. Love that they fit exactly the same as my McAllisters and the color!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldn't Ask For a Better Quality Shoe Bought these a few months back and have loved wearing them from day one. Timeless styling and quality you can feel with each step. I can wear these with casual jeans or a business suit. Love supporting U.S. companies and their employees. Quality like this is the reason why and its value which supersedes the price. Well done Allen Edmonds!

Ask & Answer

Fifth Avenue leather finish

In online photos the Fifth Avenue in black seems to have a very polished finish while the Park Avenue in black seems to be more supple and show the leather grain. Is that a design difference between the two styles or is my perception of the online photos incorrectly drawing this distinction?
Asked by: resoler
I submit that both have thier own leather character; the 5th does have a bit more shine straight out of the box; than the Park does. However, the suppleness and character of the [light] leather grain in the "Park" give it an extremely distinguished appearance. I posit that you are correct in your observation.

Recoloring dark chili color

I spilled some hot water onto the dress shoe and it looks like there's some discoloration and markings onto the shoe. Much worse looking than that of scuffs and scratches. What can I do to get rid of the discoloration and scuffs on the shoe?
Asked by: Anonymous
If you've tried the standard AE polish and that doesn't work, and you can't remove the discoloration and feel like they are "ruined", this may sound weird but as a last resort, maybe rub hot water on the rest of the shoe to even out that discoloration and they will be all one color again :). Alternatively, bring them in to a cobbler for expert advice.

Does the Walnut color change over time with wear and care?

I've got a new pair of Fifths in Walnut and am wondering what will happen to the color over time. Right out of the box they are a beautiful light brown color, although a bit orange for my taste. Will they darken with wear and polish? I've read that using the conditioner cream on Walnut AEs will darken the color a bit, and I've experienced that myself with the Rush Street. If this Walnut ages to a darker tone these shoes will fit nicely between my merlot Parks and brown Rush Streets.
Asked by: AE_5Guy
Use Kiwi brown polish, and they will darken just right .

Are these stitched or glued?

Asked by: Wife
AE shoes are legitimately welted - no glued on, faux-welting like Johnston & Murphy or Bostonian.

What replacement laces should I buy if the standard ones are too short?

I bought a pair of the cap-toe oxfords and the fit of the 11 shoe is right, but the laces seem too short and i cannot knot them easily. I was thinking of getting some replacement laces, but what size would you suggest.
Asked by: JoshuaB
The Fifth Avenue is shipped with a pair of 30" Dawhyde laces. We recommend trying the 33" laces. Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
