Overview

This is the shoe for the man that knows power and responsibility are not mutually exclusive, but instead inextricably joined. The classic tapered-toe profile of this 7-Last shoe-which fits almost every foot well-is strengthened with an extended perforated wing-tip and upper as well as dramatic toe detailing, all of which convey the authority and control of a man who means business. The sturdy double oak leather sole on these bluchers will make others take notice as you walk into a room while allowing the shoe to smartly withstand the day-to-day rigors that undoubtedly come with the steadfast commitment of the day-to-day commute.

Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

Cordovan leather requires different care than calfskin due to its different properties. To remove any natural oils or residue in areas where the shoe flexes, and to maintain the leather's quality, simply brush the leather with a horsehair shine brush or wipe with a cotton flannel polishing cloth. Polish occasionally with Allen Edmonds Cordovan Care Cream to protect the leather and maintain its rich color.

This shoe style is manufactured with Genuine Horween® Shell Cordovan. Click here to watch a video about the special care that goes into making Shell Cordovan, and learn about the long relationship between Allen Edmonds and Horween.

Further details and videos are available on our Caring for Your Shoes page.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A comfortable classic This is my sixth pair of MacNeils. They are classic, comfortable and sturdy. I am hard on shoes, but the double-oak sole wears very well. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best shoes I have ever owned These shoes are the most comfortable I have ever owned. It only took about 5 days of wear and they feel like they were made just for me. I have owned many different brands, and I have been buying wingtips for over 40 years now, and I have never worn a better pair of shoes. Thank you for the hard work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shoes the make love to your feet It is hard to overhype these shoes. I have wore them for the last 20 years (three pairs). They are durable, classic, and, well, make your feet feel like a day at the spa.

Ask & Answer

Custom shoe sole

I just placed order online with order number PRDAE00937125. Yesterday, i configured the shoe with custom black rubber sole. It stays in the cart with $40 extra. Today i finish the checkout procedure. Then i check the email it doesnt state the custom rubber shoe sole. When i go back to the website the same shoe does not offer custom shoe sole anymore. I am not sure why is it remove from option and will i be getting the custom shoe sole with the extra money paid.

Is insole cork or leather+poron?
Asked by: WharfRat
All Allen Edmonds welted styles like the Macneil have a cork layer applied between the leather insole and outsole. This style does not feature an additional Poron insert. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

Conditioner/Cleaner

I no longer see the allen edmonds conditioner/cleaner on the website. Is it ok to use the conditioner/cleaner on shell shoes or is not advised? Why was the conditioner/cleaner removed? Is it no longer a supported product? Should I stop using it on all my shoes?
Asked by: Anonymous
Look for a Cordova leather conditioner.

Preparation for first wear

I just bought a pair of the cordovan MacNeil's and they look great. I've been reading online that some "prep" new cordovan shoes by waxing them before wearing them the first time and also create a vamp crease with a pen to set the creases in the leather. Do you recommend this type of prep to ready a cordovan shoe prior to a first wear?
Asked by: Anonymous
I love them and just wear them. I use a cordovan leather conditioner and that is the only special conditioning they receive. I have eight pairs of AE shoes; the MacNeils are still my favorites. I have no doubt that they will offer a lifetime of beautiful service.

Cordovan laces

Which laces do you recommend for the cordovan shoe?
Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your question. I would recommend the Black Dawhyde Replacement Laces- size 30" for this style.

What is the suggested shoe size for the MacNeil Rough collection? My left foot is 11D and my right foot is 11 D/E? Thanks

Asked by: zbdub510
Allen Edmonds shoes are constructed on a wide variety of lasts (foot molds) and each will feature unique fit characteristics. It is difficult to recommend a size through this channel and guarantee a proper fit because each last will fit differently based on the contours of your feet. To learn more about lasts, you can click this link: http://www.allenedmonds.com/shoes-101/lasts.html It is vitally important to visit an Allen Edmonds retail store or retail partner for a professional fitting to increase your chances of being fit correctly for each last and style. However, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoes in returnable condition.

Cordovan MacNeil in 2.0 variant?

I love the new MacNeil 2.0 - will there be a cordovan offering in this new model? Also - is the poron sole removable in the MacNeil 2.0?
Asked by: Chris_SF
At this time, there are no immediate plans to update the MacNeil Cordovan, however it's always a possibility. We appreciate your feedback. PORON is a foam layer placed between the leather topper (logo-stamped sock liner) and the footbed base; this layer is not removable. We only offer removable insoles on those styles designed to with the additional space to accommodate an orthotic. Those styles are typically made on the 511G or the 678 Lasts. Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

Is this style being discontinued in favor of the Macneil 2.0? Or is AE going to continue to offer both styles for the foreseeable future?
Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds. There are no plans at this time to discontinue the Macneil or the Macneil 2.0. The Macneil 2.0 was recently released to the line to offer customers the option of a different sole and additional comfort with a PORON® insole.
