Bush, Clinton and G.W. Bush. Guaranteed to make a dramatic impression, this cap-toe balmoral combines a classic silhouette with unsurpassed craftsmanship to convey the serious presence necessary for anyone who leads by example and ensures the Park Avenue will perfectly suit all the most important moments in your life.

Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

Cordovan leather requires different care than calfskin due to its different properties. To remove any natural oils or residue in areas where the shoe flexes, and to maintain the leather's quality, simply brush the leather with a horsehair shine brush or wipe with a cotton flannel polishing cloth. Polish occasionally with Allen Edmonds Cordovan Care Cream to protect the leather and maintain its rich color.

This shoe style is manufactured with Genuine Horween® Shell Cordovan. Click here to watch a video about the special care that goes into making Shell Cordovan, and learn about the long relationship between Allen Edmonds and Horween.

Reviews
Park Avenue Cordovan Cap -toe Oxfords is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 991.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality These shoes were purchased as part of my uniform. They're comfortable, professional looking and when taken care of, last as long as any shoe I've ever worn.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor fit, poor customer service I recently bought a pair of black Park Avenue Oxfords, being sized at the store on LaSalle on Chicago, but picking the pair up at the store on Michigan avenue. I tried on a pair in 8.5 E, which the attendant at the LaSalle store told me looked to be a good fit. And it felt fine in the store, though he told me my right foot was a little wider than my left, but it would break in. Wearing it for one day, I felt tremendous pain in the toe box on my right foot, due to constriction on the bone between the base of the big toe and the base of the little toe. I felt more minor pain in my left foot, which I can tolerate, due to narrowness around on the uppers from my high arches. But the pain on my right foot was severe while walking. I took the pair in to the store where the attendant sized me, on LaSalle. His answer was, "They're new," and he offered to put the problematic shoe on an expander to break it in. I agreed. Today, I picked up the shoe after having it expanded. I feel no difference. Walking around for about 20 minutes, I developed shooting pains as the constriction in the toe box forced my bones into an unnatural position. I went to another shoe store and was sized 8.5 EE on the Bannock device. I told them about the problem and was told that I was sold a pair of shoes that was too small, and that if I wore them, I could develop a bunion in the foot where I am having soreness. After only two wears, I want nothing to do with these shoes, and at a retail price of almost $400 they are an incredibly expensive mistake. At least they look sharp, and at least they feel okay when I am sitting down. Maybe I can walk around in tennis shoes and slip on the dress shoes when I want to look nice while sitting? Ha.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great show I ordered these shoes with the Dainite rubber soles and they are the most comfortable dress shoes I have ever owned! I also expect to get longer wear out of the soles compared to the standard leather soles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dark Chili was a good choice Normally when I think of the Park Avenue it's in black. But I'm so glad I went with the Dark Chili this time. The burnishing is quite well done and the hue seems to catch the eye more favorably than a regular brown shoe. I'm always getting compliments on the shoe, as I work in tech it's a natural fit for the office dress code. This was also my first time ordering online. I normally wear a 10.5 D and re-measured at a regular department store before ordering. However this shoe felt a little tight, and the laces for an Oxford seemed too far apart when I took them out of the box. So I took them to a local AE retail store and the woman there recommended I go with the 10.5 E. I am supremely grateful for that, the shoe fits perfectly and the crossbar lace is exactly to what an oxford should look be. The team at your Los Angeles store was phenomenal. Roxana is the person to ask for she's superb. They processed the whole exchange on the spot and got a replacement pair to me in less than a week. I've since bought a pair of the Cornwallis in Walnut at the 10.5 E and those fit perfectly too. So my recommendation is if you are looking to buy one of the "big boy" models, get checked at their AE retail spots because you want someone who knows what they are talking about.

Is "5845 Brown" the same color as "Dark Brown Burnished"?

A few years ago I was debating on whether to buy Park Avenues in black or dark brown burnished. In the end, I opted for the black because I wanted to go with a traditional color for job interviews. Now I wanted to buy another pair of Park Avenues, but this time in dark brown burnished color. However, it looks like AE removed it and instead replaced it with "5845 Brown". So was dark brown burnished renamed to 5845 Brown?
Asked by: TheLegend27
Yes, the Brown Park Avenue is the burnished dark brown calfskin. Some descriptions have been simplified. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

Walnut

Hi. My Walnut Park Avenue's cap toe is a lighter shade than the rest of the shoe. How can I get the cap toe to match the rest of the shoe? Using the premium walnut polish doesn't help to match the darker shades of the shoe. Should I use one of the shoe creams? If so, what shade should I use? Thank you for your time.
Asked by: Orlando Shoe Bro
We use a special combination of waxes and dyes to burnish our shoes and polish will not achieve the same effect. Darkening a toe may require a certain level or experience and we do not recommend experimenting unless you know the results. Keep in mind also that leather will naturally acquire a patina overtime with normal wear and care. If you have concerns about the pair of shoes you received, we recommend contacting our customer service team directly for assistance. They can be reached at 877.817.7615.

Dark Burnished Brown?

I bought the Park Avenue a few weeks ago in the dark burnished brown, and was planning to buy a second pair (so this could be my daily work shoe) after I breaking in the first pair. However, this color appear to have been replaced with just "brown." Is this still the same color (it has the same SKU, 5845) or should I be searching the clearance section hoping to snag my second pair while I can?
Asked by: amazingant
All colors of the Park Avenue are burnished during the hand finishing process, including the brown style #5845. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

How much extra space lengthwise is normal for this shoe?

I ordered this shoe recently and want to make sure the shoe is not too long. How much space should there be between the big toe and the end of the shoe for this style?
Asked by: Anonymous
The Park Avenue is designed with an elongated toe so you will have more room than most other shoes. However, you should judge whether or not a shoe fits by how the ball of your foot feels across the width of the shoe and not by where your toes end up. It is vitally important to visit an Allen Edmonds retail store or retail partner for a professional fitting to increase your chances of being fit correctly for each last and style. However, keep in mind that products purchased on AllenEdmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoes in returnable condition.

width size??

Hi, this is my first time I've looked for a dress shoes. I from Vietnam so I can't go to your store to get fitted directly. I need your help... My foot-print width (on paper) is 11.5cm and the total girth around my foot ball is 28cm. So what width size I should choose?? D, E or EE?? Thank you!!
Asked by: Quybeu
Thank you for your interest. We cannot recommend sizes through this channel and guarantee a proper fit. We suggest visiting a local store that can do a professional fitting on you on a Brannock device. What color belt to match navy blue Park Aves?

I am looking to purchase the Park Aves in Midnight Navy. But there isn't a Midnight Navy belt option. What color belts have you paired with the midnight navy shoes?
Asked by: Peter
We recommend a dark navy belt for these styles and we will offer a matching belt soon. In the meantime, we suggest a black dress belt like the Midland Ave. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
