Horsehair Shine Brush

Details

  • Solid wood handle
  • Natural heather-brown horsehair bristles
  • Naturally applies shoe cream and polish
  • Handcrafted in the USA

Overview

Gently applies shoe creams and polishes to your favorite pair of Allen Edmonds. Good for buffing your leather to a desired shine. Leave out to air dry and then wipe clean of any clumps or build up. We recommend using a new brush for each different colored polish to prevent cross-contamination between leathers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Allen Edmonds Horsehair Shoe Shine Brush These horsehair brushes are made with all natural wood and horsehair and work the best for all shoes and boots. If taken care of and kept protected while not in use should last a lifetime! Definitley recommended to anyone that owns shoes that need polishing, dusting, cleaning, and/or maintained!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice brush I bought the brush because the other one is "contaminated" with other brand of shoe polish. The kind you find everywhere in stores, named as a bird... It looks nice and I have a good feeling handling it.The brush feels very solid. I was afraid (don't ask me why) about some smell but no. I used it before applying the cream, and another time after shoe polish to shine the shoes. Nothing wrong with that brush. Now the price is a little bit high, but I guess it will last forever. So....

details of hair

Hi. What is the length of the bristles? And, are they made strictly of the tail hair or also the mane?
Asked by: JustTruth23
1 1/2 inch, both mane and tail

Is it common for these brush to "shed" for the first few uses?

I ordered two of these. Both of them tend to "shed" a few upon use. Is this normal for the first few uses?
Asked by: Anonymous
Same thing happened to me. I would expect this to be normal on the first few uses.

Different color handles?

I noticed the kit comes with two brushes with different color handles. Is it possible to buy two brushes (one with a light and one with a dark color handle?).
Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds. While color variations are common depending on the part of the wood the handle is cut from, the Horsehair Shine Brush can only be ordered in the natural wood color offered online. Brush use

I have used a brush once with natural polish but want to now use it with Chili. Will there be an issue with this? An threat to the leather or color of the shoe? Thanks
Asked by: ScottyBoy920
You should be able to go to a darker tint without any problem. but, once you do, you cannot return to use it on a lighter shade; that will definitely cause problems.

How do you clean these brushes?

I had used one with a natural colored polish but want to now use it with Chili colored. Thank you!
Asked by: ScottyBoy920
I use different brushes for different colors. I have one brush for black polish, one for brown, chili, and one for neutral. If you want to be assured your neutral brush remains neutral, don't use anything else. This may sound extreme, but it works great for me. I don't want to change the color tones of my shoes.

Bristles falling off

I know it may be normal for losing a few strands on every use. Is it normal to see 6-10 strands per shoe? It is like the brush is shedding.
Asked by: dudleydoright
Even very expensive brushes shed. Considering the price of the AE shoe brush, this is an excellent buy.

Travel kit vs. regular kit

Do these lit include the same brush? If so why is there so much discrepancy with the price? I did the math to sum up the cost of each parts, and the cost didn't add up.

Would it be appropriate to wash the shine brush bristles?

Asked by: Butch
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds. Our Horsehair Dauber and Shine Brushes can typically be left out to air dry and then wiped clean of any clumps or build up. Because each colored polish should be used with its own individual brush, washings with water are unnecessary. Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
