Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from DOES A GOOD JOB I used the Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion on both of my new pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes as a preventative measure against cracking. I used the Leather Lotion to restore softness to my worn pairs of Allen Edmonds and other shoes. Does the job.

I have a pair of TAN Strandmoks that are discolored (blackened in large areas). What product(s) shall I use to treat, clean & condition them?
While the Tan Leather it is not a suede or nubuck material, we recommend treating it with the same care as one would exercise for a suede or nubuck shoe. We recommend using the Suede Cleaning kit to clean them and the 'Spray Waterproofer' to protect from stains. It's typically not advised to condition this type of leather as it can darken the shoes. You can condition the inside lining of the shoe with leather lotion to keep it moisturized. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

How often should I use leather lotion?
Should I use this every time I polish my shoes? Is once a month too much?
You can use Leather Lotion as needed to moisturize the leather and prevent it from drying. You don't have to use it every time you polish the shoes, but even if you do it will not negatively affect the leather in any way. It ultimately depends on how often you wear the shoes, the conditions they've been exposed to, as well as local climate. Monthly application is perfectly acceptable. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

Lotion for calf?
I read faq but saw mixed answers. Some said this lotion is for causal shoes instead of dress shoes; but some said it is fine for dress shoes as well. So Can I use this lotion on burnished calf shoes like burnished dark chili Lasalle? Thank,
Yes, you can use Leather Lotion on burnished calf styles including Dark Chili. We apologize for the confusion with previous recommendations. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

New Leeds & MacNeil shoes
I recently bought new Leeds & McNeil shoes - both in black. I live in the dry climate of Colorado and prior pairs of the same shoes have multiple cracks on the shoe leather in addition to scratches and scuffs. I see the following AE products: leather cleaner conditioner, leather lotion, premium leather conditioner, saddle soap, and shoe cream. Which are appropriate for my Leeds and MacNeil shoes and for what situations?
Thank you for your inquiry. We recommend treating your shoes with Leather Lotion regularly to moisturize the leather and keep it soft and supple. Leather Lotion is a neutral product without dyes or pigments and can be applied before polishing the shoes or any time on its own. In drier climates you may need to apply more often or as needed. Saddle Soap and Conditioner Cleaners are used to clean the leather and typically not necessary unless the shoes are heavily soiled or have polish or wax build up. Shoe Cream has a high dye content that's used to help restore the color of the leather. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

Should 'Leather Lotion' be used on oil-tanned leather footwear?
In general, yes the Leather Lotion may be used on oil-tanned leathers. However, if the leather has a napped texture we don't recommend using it as it may darken the color. We recommend contacting customer service directly at 877-817-7615 with the specific style you're inquiring about for better assistance. If the style is a different brand of footwear we suggest contacting them to see what they advise. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

How does this work on Navy Cronmok?
Hi, the back my leather lotion states "also recommended for use on lighter colored footwear." Does this mean I should not use on the dark navy cronmoks? Will this ruin them and/or make them lighter? Also, is this recommended for the distressed leather that make up the cronmoks? Thanks.
You can use the Leather Lotion for the Navy Cronmok. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
