Overview

Just like you won't find Ventura Highway on any map, you won't find another shoe on the market like this one. That's because we've taken our modern driver design and combined it with a traditional penny loafer for a slip-on that perfectly straddles the line between contemporary style and classic refinement. This is our first driver that features a variety of colors, which not only brings a bit of diversity to your wardrobe but also serves to highlight details like the handsewn beefroll and hand-stitching on the toe. Also new is the Dario rubber driving sole which is nubbed for comfort and control whether you are behind the wheel or on foot. A new take on a well-known footwear style, this shoe is destined to be a real American classic even if its namesake road only exists in an America song.

Product Care

Allen Edmonds Shoe Care

When caring for the suede-like leathers, we recommend using our Allen Edmonds Spray Waterproofer. Make sure the surface area is clean and dry. Spray evenly from a distance of 6 - 8 inches and allow to air dry before wear. Allen Edmonds Spray Waterproofer will not alter color, but it may darken the fabric initially while damp.

The leather styles can be cleaned using a damp cloth to remove dirt and any residue. Follow by using a soft cloth to apply Allen Edmonds Leather Lotion, which has been specifically formulated for this type of leather.

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 16 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by First time ordering online. I like the shoes but had to return the first pair for a wider size since the shoes run narrow. Instructions for returning shoes (free of charge) were clear. July 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great feel This shoe fits extremely well. I initially purchased a tan Interstate 90, but returned it for this shoe. Not because the I-90 wasn't good, but the tan color and material of this shoe is initially what I had in mind when I purchased the I-90. I do not understand the negative reviews other than I do have a more narrow (B to C) foot and they seem to fit me perfectly. I would much rather have the plain toe box (vamp) of the I-90 vs. the penny style of this shoe, but it's a keeper. I am awaiting a different size to arrive once it becomes available to compare for optimum fit! I love that AE has large sizes available and offer free shipping to compare sizes for fit, because I find that various styles fit differently according to shape, width, and length. I am between sizes 14 & 15; comfortable for driving and extended walking, dressy enough to wear with a sport jacket. I have yet to be disappointed purchasing shoes here. Great quality, prompt delivery, a bit pricey, and so far good customer service. I am happy with my purchase. June 30, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful shoe! Depending on the style and material, I can wear one of two sizes. This feels more comfortable than the Interstate 90, in that the material is more pliable. But the I-90 fit just as well in a smaller than (my) normal size. So it just depends. Both are great shoes, this is just better for me. I am awating another size in the Ventura Hwy to assure optimum fit! But the size I have would do just fine! June 25, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 The front of the shoe gets scuffed too easy Shoes are a little tight. The front gets scuffed real easy and I believe the leather may wear or tear quickly. June 15, 2015

Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.

We cannot provide an accurate answer because the wear and tear on soles is highly dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to the amount of walking one does, the terrain they walk on outside the office, weather conditions, as well as how well one cares or their shoes. The Ventura HWY is a driving shoe intended for light weekend wear. We suggest wearing our shoes every other day but ideally no more than 2 or 3 times per week. It’s important to rotate your shoes increase their longevity. Cedar shoe trees should be used to help the leather retain its shape while they absorb the moisture from inside the shoe in between wears.

Potentially a dumb question - I've got a pair of black leather Ventura Hwys. Should I worry about polish? Or should I just wipe and brush if/when they get dirty?

Thanks!

Answer:
Now this is a tough one based on the available info - I would say go with 9.5 in length (unless you find the 333 last ultra-long, in which case go down to a 9), and drop the width down to an E - the leather is much more forgiving, the arch shouldn't be an issue and the 2592 is much wider than the 333 in general. Really a shot in the dark though.

Answer:
The Ventura HWY is constructed on the Handsewn 2592 Last which features a fuller fitting toe and accommodates a full sock liner with a heel-to-toe padding. Handsewn styles are known to fit shorter than a dress style, however each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape.

The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, keep in mind that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip. Trying the shoes on a carpeted surface will help prevent scuffing on the sole and keep the shoe in returnable condition.

While the Ventura HWY is not manufactured using suede or nubuck, it does feature leather that has been buffed and distressed to achieve a unique velvet-like surface. As such, we recommend treating this type of leather with the same care as one would exercise for a suede or nubuck shoe.

We recommend using our Allen Edmonds Spray Waterproofer when caring for this style to add some water protection. Make sure the surface area is clean and dry. Spray evenly from a distance of 6 - 8 inches and allow to air dry before wear. Allen Edmonds Spray Waterproofer will not alter color, but it may darken the fabric initially while damp.

We recommend pairing your Ventura HWY style in Tan Leather with the South Fork Casual belt in Tan Leather; they are designed to coordinate and complement each other nicely.

No, the Ventura HWY style was not designed with an orthotic fit in mind and so it does not feature a removable insole. You can find the complete Allen Edmonds Orthotic Collection by clicking the following link: http://www.allenedmonds.com/aeonlin...

The Kenwood, the Westbrook and the Ventura HWY are all Handsewn styles. The Kenwood style is constructed on the 800-Last which is a classic Handsewn last with a semi-round toe and roomier instep. The Westbrook is constructed on our 555-Last which is a snug fit, due to a shorter forepart and rounded toe with a tighter instep. And the Ventura Hwy is constructed on our 2592 Last which features a round, fuller toe; this last also accommodates a full sock liner with a heel-to-toe padding. We suggest trying the Ventura HWY in the same size as Kenwood.

Keep in mind, each style can fit differently based on individual foot shape. The best way to get a proper fit is to visit a master fitter in one of our retail stores. If this is not possible, remember that products purchased on allenedmonds.com may be returned at any time, as long as the item is unused and accompanied by the packing slip.
