Our belts are measured from the inside edge of the buckle to the center hole. Because of this, we recommend selecting a belt one full size larger than your waist size. For example, if the waist size on your slacks or pant size is a 36" we recommend ordering a 38" belt.

Good belt with certain caveats
Three description clarifications:
1) The Belt is 1-3/8th inch (or 35mm) wide and not 1-5/8 (40mm) as written in the description.
2) Belt is true to the way Allen Edmonds sizes its belts but will run 1 inch shorter. See explaination in Q&A.
3)Material is Nubuck like for not only the Brown belt but also for the Black belt. The Black belt looks less shiny than in the picture in the description.
Overall a good belt at its sale price. And the leather seems fine. But because the actual belt was different than the description, one wonders if the leather is actually Horween or someone made an error writing the description.

Sizing Is Incorrect
All my AE belts are size 38 for my size 36 waist. I ordered this belt as a 38 as well. The belt is a good 2" shorter than all my other AE 38 belts. I'll have to exchange it for a size 40.

Fantastic Belt
I absolutely loved the quality of this belt. The genuine leather is unmatched by any that i have ever found in store. I will definitely be ordering one in brown when i get a pair of brown shoes. Superior craftsmanship at its finest!

I wear 36" Allen Edmond dress belt. Does this belt run true to size or do I need to order 38"?
It is true to size but with one caveat - it will be 1 inch shorter/tighter than other comparable belts. If you see the picture carefully you will see the bar (from where the leather strip starts) is in the middle of the buckle. So a size 36 in this belt would mean the leather strip from the start to the middle notch is still 36 inches but because the strip starts is the middle instead of the edge of the frame in most other belts, it will “behave” like a 35” sized belt.

Is this belt in brown actually suede?
The belt in brown looks like suede, but the other two colors don't appear to be suede. I am looking for a suede belt that looks like this, but I don't want to inadvertently buy a non-suede belt.
I would say the feel is more nubuck than suede. Also wanted to say that the black belt’s feel is the same - it is not shiny like in the picture but more nubuck like the brown one. For a truer picture, see the black circle belt’s picture on Amazon.
