Wilbert Comfort Shoe is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 507.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The BEST pair of shoes I've ever owned!! I own 6 pairs of Allen Edmonds shoes. They all fit extremely well but the Wilbert stands out as the very best. Super comfortable even when I was in Rome, walking for miles on those cobblestone streets. The fit is superb. My only wish is that they made the Wilbert in a black as well. David San Gabriel, CA

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have three pairs. I bought the light brown color a year ago. It's great for walking. Not appropriate for a suit, but I can wear it otherwise to work and for social occasions. I liked the pair so much, that when it went on sale this year I bought it in the other two colors--black and dark brown. I tend to prefer the leather uppers in English dress shoes and boots, but I like Allen Edmonds for their casual shoes in terms of both the rubber soles and the leather uppers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great! Love Them. 2 Pairs. I have 2 pair in 2 different colors for years! My only complaint is that if the heels or soles wear down, only A-E recrafting can repair them with original material: not local shoemakers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best All-around Shoe I have two pairs of the lighter color and one of the brown. So, that’s three Wilberts out of the nine pairs of Allen Edmonds I have. I photograph weddings for 10 to 12 hour stretches, and before I got these, my Planters Fasciitis was so bad that I could barely walk the next day. Now, I have no foot pain afterwards, just the usual fatigue from walking all day. Actually, I wear my other Allen Edmonds when photographing weddings and my feet do well in all of them. But, the Wilberts are especially suited for walking because of the soft soles. I also have narrow feet, and it’s nearly impossible to find a casual shoe that comes in narrow width like these do. Part of the reason I have three pair is they’re almost too good to be true and one never knows if they’ll be discontinued or if the narrow widths will be eliminated. These are probably the most versatile shoe ever made; they look great from casual to slightly formal pairings.

What belt and shoe polish do your recommend for the brown Wilbert (1951)?

I was in the Allen Edmund's store in Oak Brook IL, and the store attendant who was extremely helpful and I could not find a belt to match or even blend with the brown Wilbert (1951). Why would you not make belts from the same lot as the shoes? Please advise what belt you recommend? Thank you
    Asked by: JGC3
I did buy a belt that went with the shoes at one of the NYC stores, maybe they just didn't carry it at Oak Brook, or were out.

    dark brown chromexel?

is the dark brown the same horween chromexel leather as the brown Higgins Mill?
    Asked by: Anonymous
That's a really good question. My sense is that only the Higgins Mill Boot (7562) has the chromexcel leather. I think the Wilberts are made from Outland leather. What's the difference? Here's an old question and Customer Service response from approximately April 2014. Taken from the Q & A listing under Wilbert....... Question: "What is the difference between chromexel and outland leathers? I have had several pairs of Wilberts, but I do not know which kind of leather I got. What are the differences? I have found that after using leather lotion and buffing, I put a light tan polish on the shoes for a very nice looking finish." Answer: "While Chromexcel leather and Outland leather are very similar, they are sourced from different tanneries and so the tanning process and finish are different. Chromexcel leather is characterized by its rich pull-up quality and oily effect, whereas Outland leather tends to have a slight waxy finish. Beyond that, they are both very similar in appearance. Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions. Allen Edmonds Customer Service 4 years, 7 months ago"

Would you wear the Wilbert with summer grey or beige dress trousers.

I own a pair of Wilbert's and mostly wear them with jeans. I tend to be a little more casual than the average Allen Edmonds customer because for me, my everyday shoe would be my Oboz hikers, or Teva's (I'm retired). To me this is a dress up jean shoe. However, they are a terrific shoe, and in a couple of weeks I'm going to a wedding (outdoor one). I'll be wearing a blue blazer, button down with tie, and summer grey dress trousers, and also pair the blazer with a khaki color summer dress trouser as well. Will this shoe work with both? Also, what belt do you recommend to go with the Wilbert. BTW, these replaced a pair of Cody's that I had and loved for years.
    Asked by: David
I would wear them with khaki trousers but I don’t think I would wear them with the gray. For classic blue with gray pants you want black shoes. I would suggest my fav dressy AE s the 5th Avenue.
