Top quality
The quality was what I would expect from Allen Edmonds. My only complaint was the slow delivery.

The sizing is way off.
I got the 9-12 size for my 10.5 foot had had to take them off half way through the day. They were way to tight around the foot and the leg.

Too Thin
For my tastes, too thin. Nice looking, well made, they stay up.

Why no fabric softener?
Why is fabric softener not recommended when washing? We generally use fabric softener when washing colored clothes. Will it damage the socks?
Fabric softeners will coat the wool fibers limiting its natural ability to manage foot temperature and moisture, not only that but they can also encourage pilling on the fabric.

Do these socks stay up all day? Since I am used to over the calf, I am wondering if these will suffice. Thank you.
One of the things I like about these socks is that they don't fall. I've found that's probably normal for new socks but as the socks age, there's a risk that the elastic will weaken and the socks will fall. I've never had that happen with these socks, even after many washings.

We typically wash in warm water, cold water rinse, then "cotton" dry setting on our dryer. How mud shrinkage can I expect? I wear size 14 shoes and
would order XL socks.
I haven't noticed any shrinkage, even after many washings. If there is any shrinkage, it's well hidden because the socks stretch to accommodate the foot.
I agree with other reviewers and have consistently recommended buying the largest size that will fit your foot. The sock will have a better feel and look.

Where does the fabric used in these socks come from?
It says these socks are "Made in USA." Does that mean you take materials from overseas and have Americans stitch them? Or is the fabric also from the USA?
Thank you for your interest in Allen Edmonds.
Similar to our work with our leather suppliers, we have partnered with a sock manufacturer who sources wool materials both domestically and globally.
Like Allen Edmonds, this company supports producers in the United States by sourcing wool almost exclusively from American yarn spinners who purchase from American wool growers. They support domestic yarn spinners whenever possible and work with them to get the best quality natural and manmade fibers and yarn for all of our products.
Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

Should I choose medium or large if my shoe size is 9?
I'm stuck trying to figure out which size sock to get, M or L. I see your chart says if my shoe size is 9, I could wear a M or L. I'm afraid one would be too tight or the other too loose. What would you recommend?
If either will fit, I'd recommend large (L). The large size will give a sock that's easier to put on your foot and has more bulk. If the sock is smaller, the fabric stretches to fit the foot. It then has a thinner feel. I prefer the feel of the larger sock.
